Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
So this was pretty good story wise, but some things didn't work for me. Poor Aleena had no personality aside from being timid and curvy and while Bear is supposed to be a huge alien monster, I constantly forgot he was anything other than human. The whole "baby" nickname he gave her didn't really work IMO in the context of a dystopian alien world and just sounded odd. While I liked how he stood up for her, I wish Aleena had come into her own a bit more as a person. Maybe it's just me but I felt kind of bored most of the time so this was a miss for me.
I was thinking of buying this in paperback, but I'm glad I didn't because it was a 3-star read for me.
Ambassador Bearick is a widow and former doctor who's vowed to never take another bride after losing his wife. He goes to the planet Karpasian Prime to broke a trade deal between the Karpasians and the Kindred over a wormhole, but to do business with the Karpasians, he must marry one of their women. Originally, he's supposed to marry Aleena's cruel half-sister, but the half-sister chickens out and later regrets that since Bearick is very handsome.
When I wrote "half-sister", I thought of Cinderella, but I wouldn't say this is a Cinderella retelling.
The reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 4 or higher was the romance. It was just hard for me to believe that these two loved each other after such a short period of knowing each other, which was in this case, being married. I felt the pacing of the book was a little off in that sense.
At first, I found the whole I can't fall for her because I've made a vow after my first wife died a little too familiar since I had just read The Kindred Warrior's Captive Bride, which also had that trope.
A deep and complex love story, love grows between an arranged married couple and their life changes On Karpsian Prime females are literally of a race that are expected to be seen and not heard, they have no rights and this is something that has been happening for decades even though most females knew it was not right and they would prefer an alternative. Ambassador Bearick had been happily married before and when he had lost his first wife had sworn that he would under no circumstance marry again. As the quote says “Never is a long time” and he is having to rethink his options. Aleena only has her mother who she loves dearly, unfortunately she has become seriously ill and if no medical intervention is taken, she will die. She is approached by Ambassador Bearick “Bear” and a proposition is put to her if she marries him and stays with him and the portray a regular happily married couple, he will ensure her mother has all of the best medical care she needs. Over time it becomes apparent to Bear and Aleena that the actual feelings they have are real and they are growing more apparent as time passes. This is good for them both however it seems to have flushed out those that would see Aleena harmed just to get even with him and this something he will not allow. No on threatens his beautiful, kind and gentle hearted mate and continues to breathe the same air as him. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
Evangeline Anderson has done it again with Married to the Beast, the latest installment in her captivating Kindred Tales series. This isn’t just a sci-fi romance it’s an emotional rollercoaster wrapped in sensual heat and wrapped again in tender, soul deep love.
From the moment Bear steps onto the page, you can feel the weight he carries. A warrior haunted by loss, he’s sworn off love and bonding… until Aleena enters his life through an arranged marriage neither of them wanted. Aleena, mistreated and cast aside by her father, is strong, resilient, and full of fire and watching her break through Bear’s walls is nothing short of breathtaking.
What sets this book apart is the rich world-building and how it contrasts the cruel customs of Aleena’s home with the deeply emotional, sensual connections of the Kindred. The chemistry between Bear and Aleena simmers, then blazes into a romance that feels both epic and intimate.
If you love complex characters, enemies-to-lovers heat, and the triumph of love over darkness, Married to the Beast is your next must-read. It’s a story that reminds you healing is possible, love is worth the risk, and sometimes, the most unexpected match becomes your soulmate.
As always, my reviews are completely voluntary, uncompensated, and 100% from the heart.
Ok, if you haven't stepped your pretty foot inside Evangeline's Kindred Worlds, you're seriously missing some verbiage to 'help clear the cobwebs' and see some rough justice administered. Her heroines are taken from everyday situations and so are her heroes. What make's it enjoyable and more than junk-food reading, is that she shows us the best of what could be and shines a light on the ugly all around us. In "Married To The Beast" - Evangeline showcases a different, darker take on Cinderella, one in which the Patriarchy has run amok and really should have been reined in generations ago. Toss in a conniving stepmother and evil bitch stepsister with a clueless male head-of-household, and then add in one of our Kindred fellas with an equally clueless virgin and you have the adventure you need on a long, boring weekend.
this isn't intriguing read I normally wouldn't be drawn to something where the female lead is treated so poorly in her cultural society but honestly this wasn't that bad I mean don't get me wrong it was bad in the sense of how they treated her but it wasn't bad when she met her husband the male lead and he started to see what they were doing to her and his ways of encouraging her and re-educating her on how woman should be treated. overall the story wasn't very deep in plot but it was very deep in the sense of emotions that the characters were feeling a lot of love making or not love making but joining between each other was done. overall it was a seemingly cute read for an inner species relationship but Evangeline Anderson is very good at her wonderful works and I would recommend many more from her.
From the beginning Bear had me by the heartstrings. All he went through with his late wife caused him to vow never to love or bond again. Aleena was dealt a rotten hand by her father. He was a cruel man who threw her and her mother aside for a younger, nasty, evil woman. I won't give all the details as I always feel the reader deserves all the good stuff, either good, bad or hot and spicy to experience themselves. All I will say is that I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book. Also, let me hint, those who deserved a visit from karma got a well deserved comeuppance! In a most satisfying manner! The heat level between Aleena and Bear was through the roof and they are SO romantic!
Married to the Beast is Evangeline Anderson’s latest Kindred Tale. In her introduction to all readers, she has a list of “What you’ll find in this spicy sci-fi romance” including Arranged Marriage (check), Virgin Heroine (check), Broken Hero (check), Forbidden Desire (check), Protective, Possessive Alpha Male willing to burn the world down for his bride. (check) What she doesn’t mention, although she does use the word spicy, are words such as Steamy and Hot. She also doesn’t mention betrayal, revenge and satisfaction. Although this book is touted as a Novel, the action is so fast paced that I couldn’t put it down! Ms Anderson has once again hit one out of the ballpark! Home Run!
Aleena lives on Karpsian Prime, a planet where women have no rights and can be beaten for the slightest issue. Kindred Ambassador Bearick, or Bear to his friends is on the planet for negotions. These will only happen if he takes a bride. Having been married before he doesn't want to find love again. He didn't expect to develope feelings for this curvy little innocent. Her stepmother and sister are trouble and determined to ruin her life. Will Bear be able to get her out of danger? As always we know this author will have an HEA for us even though my heart was pounding. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
A sci-fi romance. We have met so many types of Kindred males. This one brings us a type of beast Kindred. Bearick or Bear fits his name. We are brought to Karpsian Prime and this world definitely treats females as objects. And for a Kindred that is the opposite of how they feel. They see females as equals. Aleena is the main female of the story. She is very timid and sweet. She will do anything to save her mother from an illness. The story has a sort of cinderella feel to how she is treated. Bear may not be a prince but he will be her Bear that she so desperately needs. Plenty of romance and tension. Things do get a little spicy a few times.
Did you watch “My happy marriage”? Because this is exactly the same, but in space. Listen, I get inspiration and sometimes it can get pretty close to the same story while still being different. This however was way too close to be called inspiration. Same characters, situation and even dialogue. I felt uncomfortable reading this because I really felt like the author took too many liberties. I’ve read this author before so it came as quite a surprise. Are her stories repetitive? Sure. But if you’re in the mood for brainless fun and an easy entertaining read, you get what you paid for. This however, was really icky, especially in this day and age with AI, I feel completely ripped off.
Aleena's life on Karpasian Prime is like an otherworld fairy tale complete with an evil stepmother type person and rotten to the core 1/2 sister. She makes a deal with the former to make sure her cast off mother gets the medical treatments needed to save her life. Marriage to Kindred Ambassador Bearick is what Aleena has agreed to since it's customary on this planet when conducting an important trade deal with another species of people. A wild view into the beliefs of this bizarre world and the beautiful smoldering romance that develops makes for an unforgettable experience!
Amazing, I love how Aleena just wanted to help her mom and to be loved by her husband and how Bear falls in love with her even tho he doesn't mean to. And how it just goes to show that good does triumph over evil. I am so glad that he didn't end up matted to her horrible step sister. Definitely recommend reading this author's book. 🥰

I love a romance where you have two characters that are a little bit broken inside, but together they can come back to being whole. I really enjoyed this story where there is no drama between the two characters and their relationship just evolves through the story. Another homerun from Ms. Anderson in my book!!!
When I can't find anything else interesting to read all I need to do is search Evangeline Anderson's catalog. After losing his wife, Bear had taken a vow to never love again. But the Goddess had other plans. Aleena. This story touches on greed, jealousy, attempted rape, and kidnapping.
Absolutely love reading about beast kindred, even mixed with something else always makes for a good read. Going back to the branch with animals and different mases to have to deal with, expect the unexpected with Evangeline. Hopefully the Kindred will be able to turn things around.
Can’t wait for the audiobook version of this book; kind of a loose interpretation of Cinderella with an alien twist. My favorite part of the book is when Bear goes into “Beast-mode.”
Fast paced. Oppression of women but rectified by the Kindred and love everlasting. From rags to riches and riches to rags. How perfect! A must read that will make you turn pages until there are no more pages to turn. Loved this Kindred Tale!
I enjoyed this hot, sexy book. Bear is a Kindred on a mission. He has to join/marry before he can negotiate a treaty. Aleena needs money for her mother. She agrees to join with Bear. I liked this story.
Part of the Beast of the Kindred series. Aleena has to marry Bearick from Karpsain Prime to save her mom. Will they get to have a HEA? A must-read in this genre.
Another great Kindred book by Evangeline Anderson. Bearick was so sweet and poor Aleena really had a rough life. Glad to see them happy and with her mother on the Mothership.
