I’ve been reading this author’s short stories online for years, so I was thrilled to see the release of his first formal novella. It was no surprise that this story has an excellent premise and is filled to the brim with grotesque, action-packed scenes. My biggest critique is the length; the novella nature of this story serves as its greatest detriment, as we are not afforded a lot of time to explore the intricacies of the plot or finer nuances of any of the characters. There was so much more here I wanted to learn about, but there wasn’t enough time within the pages to really dive in. I’m looking forward to when Lu is able to really spread his wings with a full length novel and/or series. There’s a lot of untapped potential and creativity here that I can’t wait to get into in the future.

A large black pyramid is discovered in the ocean. It had never been there before. A group of men are supposed to guard it. Now something is after them. It is large and fast. What is it? Where did it come from? Awesome creature feature full of action.
