Some people are broken. Others are rotten to the core.

Emily thought she had the perfect life — a loving husband, beautiful children, and a stable home. But when human remains are discovered beneath their family house and the illusion shatters, soon Emily finds herself trapped in a nightmare where the truth seems more dangerous than the lies.

As the police investigation deepens, Emily’s carefully constructed world begins to crumble. Secrets from her marriage start to surface and when detectives start digging into their past, Emily is forced to confront unsettling memories she had long buried.
But Ryan wasn’t the only one keeping secrets. And as Emily struggles to separate truth from deception, she begins to realize that some answers are better left in the dark…

Perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden and Alice Feeney, this unsettling psychological thriller will leave you breathless — and questioning how well you know the person sleeping next to you.

I've never read a book with some many inconsistencies. Character name changes, there are 2 boys, 3 children - a girl and two boys, 2 children a girl and a boy. Now, 4 children with different names. Complete personality changes from a vulnerable abused woman pimped by her husband to a cunning manipulator. I couldn't keep up with the constant change of direction with storyline. Shes a bigger woman- to a shell a week after birth? Then the next day heavy????? It's was like reading 3 different books. Pass.

This story had a good premise, however, the errors in the text kept annoying me so much that I didn't enjoy it. There were times that the text changed names of the characters and pulled names out of the blue. I had the mystery solved way before it ended so it really wasn't a surprize ending and the story seemed to go on much longer than it needed to. Not a good book for me.

Hilariously terrible

Who are all these people giving five star reviews? I read hundreds of books a year (not a brag, I just don't do anything else) and this is easily one of the worst books I've ever read. I finished it because I was so entertained by how bad it was. It was like one of the movies on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

There was ZERO editing and consistency in this book. Sometimes she had two kids, sometimes three. Sometimes her daughter was named Anne-Marie, sometimes Sue-ann, sometimes Molly. Her first two kids were born a year or so before her third kid, who popped in and out of existence for a while, and then suddenly were old enough to get up and walk out on her? They would have been like seven and eight at this point, maybe? They went to stay with an aunt who was made up on the spot, I guess? Her son was named Robert, but they called him Ryan junior? A friend was suddenly missing since 1986, which was before any of these characters were even born?

Literally nothing about this book made sense. It was like one of those dreams where you wake up and you're like, "wow, that was insane, I must have eaten a lot of cheese or something." But it was published. And I read it. So the one star was for me.

There is absolutely no way anyone edited this or read through it before it was released because the errors were crazy. I thought I was going insane while reading this because the names were changing throughout and the spelling/grammatical errors were shocking.

The main character development was honestly awful. To start off as shy and abused and turn into a monster with no in between is lazy thriller work. I couldn’t believe I was eventually rooting for Ryan because he was no saint. The twists and the “thriller” part of this book was mostly just gruesome scenes and involved children so that was hard to get into. It’s a no for me & a do not recommend. The beginning started out so promising! Hooked me right in.

Now You See Me by Dianne England was a great twisted thriller. I was hooked from the beginning. The book is well written and has a great plot. This is the first book I have read from the author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Now you see me started off slow. I had wondered what I picked up and then bam I couldn't put it down. I devoured this story. A twist here and there. A great thriller.

Very poorly written book. Author kept calling the characters random names, names that weren't even in the book? No idea who edited this but they should be fired.

just wow

This was just wow. I didn’t see that coming. Even though her husband was a control freak and made her into a prostitute, she still had the power all along
