Thank you to the author for this ARC copy of Deals and Dream Spells. What an enchanting, funny, sweet book this was! Rachel is fast becoming one of my favourite authors with her writing that just draws you into any story! 💙 I loved Mariselle and Evryn's story - the banter, the pranks and the ridiculous pet names had me giggling - "my dainty destroyer of sanity"😂 there were deep themes in this book of love, reconciliation, overcoming trauma and familial abuse, believing in yourself and your worth 💜 I loved every moment of it and I can't wait for whoever's story we get to read next in this world!

This was honestly so sweet and so good!!! I think I liked this one better than the first and I loved the first one so much! I loved the characters and seeing them learn to see each other instead of the masks they wear. There was some language: d*mn several times. Also teasing of intimate activities and such. There was a big part of abuse in this, emotional, mental, and physical. But I really enjoyed it and the depth of the characters was great. Highly recommend!

This was a very cute follow-up to Tempests and Tea Leaves, though I couldn't get into it quite as much as book 1. It felt a lot slower, but it had its certain charms to keep me going. I enjoyed Evryn's nicknames for Mariselle, and the pranks they pulled on each other were humorous. I look forward more to book 3, though. It sounds way more up my alley.

In this second book of The Charmed Leaf Legacy series, I really wondered how Rachel Morgan could top Tempests & Tea Leaves and went in sceptical. In the first book, when we encounter Mariselle - the main female character in this book, she's - let's call it less than pleasant.

Then in Deals & Dream Spells in swoops a magical contract with her sworn enemy, Evryn, and we have the perfect setting for anything to happen. There is banter, there is snort-your-tea-through-your-nose nicknames and some very questionable poetry. This is a heart-capturing story about hate, love, acceptance and forgiveness all set within one of the most beautiful magic systems I've ever encountered. The Charmed Leaf Legacy series is fast becoming one of my top series ever read!

I have seen so may reviews saying that so far, this is the favorite of the series and I wholeheartedly agree. While Tempests and Tea Leaves was absolutely gorgeous, there is just something about this story, maybe it's Evryn, maybe it's Mariselle, maybe it's the fake engagement and forced proximity - I have no idea. What I do know is that absolutely everything in this book just worked so well together. I loved the opening scene, the pegasi racing, Evryn and Mariselle in a traditional Rowanwood-Brightcrest quarrel, the charmed cottage and the magical contract!!

I really enjoyed the animosity between our main characters in the beginning and all the mystery surrounding the reason why these two families are even sworn enemies in the first place. I loved the addition of dream magic, especially since it's so pivotal to the plot, to the history between the Rowanwoods and Brightcrests as well as instrumental in Mariselle's only dream - reopening Dreamland (which is another brilliantly unique addition to the story with its theme park-like dream scape attraction).

I found this book to be hilarious, Evryn is really a ridiculous character when he wants to be! But most of all, he is kind and takes care of his siblings and just overall, quite wonderful. I loved seeing that ridiculous charm slowly chip away at Mariselle's walls, I loved seeing her reveal her real self and her magic! I enjoyed Petunia as a side character and I absolutely loved that the matriachs of both families get a little spotlight too! The connection between the cottage and Rivenna's tea house is also pretty cool. I really enjoyed this one to the point that I didn't want to put it down for a minute!

This sequel to Tempests and Tea Leaves is just as good! It is fantastical and charming. The two main characters are hilarious together. You start rooting for them to get together from about page 5, simply because of the banter that they have.

In this book the enemies to lovers trope is much more pronounced than in Tempests and Tea Leaves. It felt like a Romeo and Juliet situation where the families are doing all that they can to keep Mariselle and Evryn apart. Especially Mariselle’s family. The added trope of fake fiancé creates silly moments of our hero and heroine agreeing with what is being said, but not being able to voice it for the furtheration of their secret plan, leading to mutual insight and eventual love.

As in the first book Morgan writes about heavy topics. The most prominent is familial abuse. This abuse is even more starkly portrayed as it is shown alongside a family that supports and loves each other. It is heartbreaking to read of a family that actively strives to hurt and put down their daughter and her accomplishments. It is skillfully, and carefully done, however, and Morgan manages to break your heart while healing it with dreams, hope, and laughter.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about wimsical dreams, cozy romance, and mischievous and driven characters!

A Regency-Cozy Fantasy Cocktail You’ll Devour in One Sitting!
If Jane Austen ever traded her quill for a wand, the result would be Deals & Dream Spells—a dazzling blend of Regency romance charm, whimsical magical mischief, and the kind of banter that makes you want to highlight every other line. Rachel Morgan delivers the perfect rivals-to-lovers fantasy romp, equal parts swoony romance and laugh-out-loud sabotage, set against the delightful chaos of an enchanted contract that refuses to be ignored.
From the very first page, this book had me grinning like a fool and muttering, “Oh, this is going to be fun.” And it was—spectacularly so.

🌿 The Premise That Hooks You Instantly
Bloomhaven has a long memory, and apparently, so does its magic. When two of the town’s most notorious rivals—sharp-tongued, quick-witted, endlessly determined—accidentally bind themselves to a decades-old magical contract, they find themselves with an impossible task: restore the failed attraction known as Dreamland.
The catch? Dreamland’s failure had once torn their families apart. And the magic binding them together insists they play nice—or at least pretend to. Which, naturally, leads to a deliciously scandalous fake engagement.
Cue the banter. Cue the sabotage. Cue the slow-burn tension so intense you’ll want to fan yourself, even though the romance is perfectly clean. Morgan gives us a masterclass in chemistry without ever crossing the PG line, and I adored every simmering moment.

💫 Characters You’ll Root For (Even When They’re Ridiculous)
The magic of Deals & Dream Spells isn’t just in the setting—it’s in its characters. Our leads are perfectly matched in wit, stubbornness, and the ability to push each other’s buttons in increasingly inventive ways. Every scene between them is a verbal fencing match laced with undertones of maybe-I-don’t-hate-you-as-much-as-I-pretend.
Supporting characters sparkle too, from meddling family members to nosy townsfolk who would pay good money to watch the drama unfold. And let’s not forget the magical sabotage—half the fun is seeing just how far our “partners” will go to make each other’s lives just inconvenient enough without technically breaking their contract.

🏰 A Setting That Feels Like Coming Home (If Your Home Has Talking Teapots)
Dreamland is a character in itself. Part faded grandeur, part magical mayhem, it’s the perfect backdrop for this slow-burn romance. You can almost smell the fresh scones in the tea room, hear the creak of the carousel, and feel the sparkle of enchantment just waiting to be revived.
Morgan’s worldbuilding is immersive without ever feeling heavy. It’s the literary equivalent of walking into a quaint village that happens to have a mischievous magical undercurrent—warm, charming, and endlessly re-readable.

😂 Banter That Deserves Its Own Trophy
Let’s be clear: this book is funny. Not just “smirk quietly to yourself” funny, but “snort-laugh in public and have strangers look at you” funny. The banter is fast, sharp, and laced with the kind of wit that makes the rivals-to-lovers trope so addictive.
Every insult feels like a foreplay-adjacent compliment in disguise. Every reluctant act of teamwork feels like the start of something neither of them is ready to admit. And when the feelings start to slip through? Reader, you will be gone.

💌 The Romance – Slow Burn Perfection
While the story’s framework is magical restoration and sabotage, the heart of Deals & Dream Spells is the romance. Morgan keeps it clean but charged with enough longing, tension, and “accidental” touches to keep you glued to the page.
There’s something extra satisfying about watching two characters who were so certain they disliked each other start to realize that maybe—just maybe—they’ve been wrong all along. By the time the emotional walls start crumbling, you’ll be cheering, swooning, and maybe even clutching your chest a little.

🔥 Spice Level: Cozy Glow (0/5 Heat, 5/5 Emotional Swoon)
If you’re looking for explicit spice, this isn’t it—but if you want an expertly executed emotional slow burn, it’s a feast. The tension and attraction are so well crafted that you don’t need a single steamy scene to feel utterly invested in the romance.

🎯 Why It Works So Well
Rachel Morgan nails the balance of heart, humor, and high stakes. You get:
A magical contract that forces cooperation between two sworn rivals – hello, tension!

An enemies-to-allies-to-lovers arc that feels natural and deeply satisfying.

A charming, lived-in magical world with details you can taste, hear, and smell.

Laugh-out-loud moments that make the book impossible to put down.

A romance that leaves you smiling long after you close the book.

📚 For Fans Of:
The Selection by Kiera Cass (for the romance-within-a-public-spectacle vibes)

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (for the banter and reluctant allies energy)

Pride and Prejudice (if Darcy and Elizabeth had a magical park to co-manage)

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson (for whimsical but grounded magic)

🛍️ Why You Should Get a Copy
Because this is the kind of book you’ll want to re-read when you need a comfort read, a laugh, or a reminder that love can sneak up on you in the most inconvenient—and magical—ways. Whether you’re a romance reader dipping your toes into fantasy or a fantasy lover looking for a cozy, swoony escape, Deals & Dream Spells delivers in every way.

💬 Final Verdict
Five glittering, tea-scented stars. Rachel Morgan has created a whimsical, romantic, and wickedly fun tale that belongs on your shelf (and probably in your comfort re-read rotation). Cozy fantasy fans, this one’s for you—clear your afternoon, brew your favorite tea, and prepare to be utterly charmed.

A beautifully written piece of art. The detail within these books are unreal - truly creative. The character development is phenomenal. You really grow to love them - from the hilarious pranks to the ridiculous pet names. But my heart broke for Mariselle, how she was treated by people she was suppose to call home. With this in mind, there were two quotes that stood out to me: “I find myself captivated by the genuine light she carries within her, carefully hidden though it may be from those who don’t care enough to look” and “Your true worth isn’t measured by your accomplishments. It exists simply in who you are.” I think a few lessons can be learned from this story.
You are transported into this dreamworld from the very first page and utterly devastated when you wake up from this beautiful dreamland on the last page. Once again a five star read for me ✨🎪🎠

This book suffered from being about characters that I felt weren’t properly built up in book one. The first book barely referenced these two, and so you didn’t have any interest. If anything, it felt like it hurt them because there had been a focus on a different sibling that seemed to allude to her book coming next. However, that being said, I did enjoy the story. Mari and Evryn had a fun dynamic, and their pranks kept things interesting. I do hope book three drops the “this previously horrible person is actually nice!” thing the series has going on.

What a lovely sequel to Tempests & Tea Leaves! Rachel knows how to create a dreamy (haha), magical world with characters that make you laugh and swoon. Yes!

I really enjoyed book one and didn't think I'd enjoy these main character as much as the last, but I did. Totally cheer worthy. Read it. It's good. Ready for more stories in the world.

P.s. tge author makes the character's "wound/lies they believe" very well done on the page.
And great dialogue/characterization.

4.5⭐️

First and foremost, I would like to thank the author for allowing me to read this book early.

ARC Review:

From the moment this was announced, I've been so excited to read it. I'm proud to say that it did not disappoint at all. I found myself giggling and squealing during this read.

I like the fact that there was no miscommunication between both main characters. They are perfect for each other in every sense. The cozy vibes in this series are immaculate. It really feels like a warm hug.

I ate up the moments when Lady Rivenna, Lord Jasvian, and Lady Iris were mentioned. I love the bond that the couple shared with a Rowanwood family. It is really comforting. We finally find out the cause of the feud, which, for me, wasn't very surprising. However, the character development was really lovely to see from all characters.

A fun romance with witty one-liners

This made me laugh out-loud. It’s a warm-hearted fun tale of the offspring of two warring families being forced by a magical binding (and some blackmail) into a fake engagement.

Oh do I LOVE a Rachel read! Her penmanship is so beguiling, I fall under HER spell each time! And this spell she cast, well shoot, it was magical in the true sense of the word!

The Rowanwoods and Brightcrests have, at best, a feud going on, at worst, a rivalry, that's why Evryn Rowanwood is engaging in a race on his Pegasus with Mariselle Brightcrest instead of engaging with young ladies at the Season's Ball. Evryn hides behind layers of nonchalance, his suave exterior in no way allows anyone to see the turmoil within. During an altercation, they stumble, yes, literally stumble through the door of a cottage no one had been able to enter for decades and suddenly find they are bound together by an ancient contract. A dream, or more correctly, a scheme shapes up in Mariselle's head, where she feels IF she can make this work, if she can turn it into a reality, her parents will value her, love her. One thing Mariselle is, is determined but she needs Evryn to complete this task. I loved how lighthearted and comical their exchange was, even though it was steeped in blackmail. Which is why I initially disliked Mariselle intensely, thinking her pompous, conniving, self righteous, self serving. But, over the next few pages, that turned into a fierce protectiveness of Mariselle, one where I wanted to scream at her family! The injustice! The uncaring manner in which they address her, patronise her, yes, I did a 360 in no time at all. I really loved how the author tugged at my heartstrings with her stirring, graphic portrayal of every word, it felt as though she'd pierced a hole in my chest and squeezed my heart physically with a vice. As cold as Mariselle's family is, Evryn's is the complete antithesis, they're warm and caring and loving and other than the stoic Jasvian, comically delightful, given Mariselle a glimpse of true family affection. By the end of Mariselle's tea at the Rowanwood house, I truthfully wanted to climb into the book and hug Mariselle, to show her people do care, siblings and family do love one another genuinely. Vividly raw emotions exposed yet concealed, a sign of exceptional penmanship.

While both Mariselle and Evryn feel insignificant to their respective families, Mariselle REALLY is! Evryn has a family who genuinely love him, his feelings of inadequacy are his own, not enforced by his family, as Mariselle's family do, verbally, unrelentingly to her. Yet, though they've entered into a.... partnership, both do want approval and recognition from their families. Both nurture a secret, besides the lie they've concocted, she, a desperation for acceptance and approval from her family, he, a journalistic endeavour he cannot allow to be made public. They both harbour massive insecurities which they suppress and when Evryn attends a celebratory dinner at the Brightcrest manor, supposedly in Mariselle's honour, he saw first hand why Mariselle was, well, as she was. Boy, I cheered so loudly at Evryn's remarks in her defense, my cat leapt off my lap!

This author has a way of making every character stand out, the supporting cast receiving just as much attention as the protagonists, they're easy to identify, and to find them exceptionally likeable. Ryden, Fin and Crispin, Evryn's friends are supportive, jovial. Their friendship is more of an institution of kinship, they all have each others back. And, even though Mariselle's family are a disaster, and disgusting, and despicable, she can count on her cousin Rowena for moral support. I'd almost forgotten how much I loved the characters from the previous book, Iris, sweet and kind; Rivenna, the matriarch, a no nonsense persona, but a kind heart, with a deep rooted hatred for the Brightcrest family. She surprised me most of all in her denial of a bond between her grandson and Mariselle, yes, ok, it WAS a falsehood but still, her reaction was unusual. The hints she dropped as to the why, well shoot, Ms Morgan had me REALLY intrigued to find out the cause! And grandma Nirella? Hells bells is SHE awesome!!!! But both Grandma's are adamant this "marriage" will never take place.... The cause for their animosity unknown until almost the very end, which was explosive!

The ... situation...between Mariselle and Evryn almost caused a riot within the families and society, completely unprecedented, completely fabricated, but oh so funny! Trying to maintain the illusion of a devoted, madly in love couple, their display of affection in public had me giggling like a two year old, those endearments Evryn addressed Mariselle with, just made my smile wider and wider, I think, this might be my favourite "my sweet venomous pixie of love" or perhaps it's "my luminous sunbeam" or could it be "my enchanted puffling".... heck, they're ALL hilarious! By the time I got to the scenes between them in the Tea House, I erupted in raucous laughter! This is fake betrothal at it's absolutely best! But flip!!!!! The author FLIPPED it good and proper! The last few chapters UNRAVELLED me! I was beyond distressed, my tummy writhing in agony! And these are precisely the twists Ms Morgan pierces me with, coming totally out of the blue! In a read with so much emotional angst, THIS knocked me right off my feet! And the next minute I was in tears from the intensity of the emotions spilling from the pages, what a rollercoaster ride! One where the smile on my face stretched from ear to eye as the ride glided to a stop, all the mysteries laid wide open, spectacularly....

A read so whimsically gorgeous, so delightfully cosy, I can't get enough of Ms Morgan's awesome imaginative excellence! The eloquence of the dialogue, the magniloquence of the banter, is a strength this very talented author possesses, I swear I draw a huge parallel between Ms Morgan and the great Shakespeare. Both authors have equal adroitness to pull it off a comic but intensely anguished tale superbly. Every word placed strategically, maximising the charm of her storytelling, heck, I could not keep the grin off my face. Although I totally concur with Rozavyn, using words like "exquisite, magnificent" lose their true meaning if used ad naseum but this read WAS exquisite, it WAS magnificent! The slow burn romance WAS exquisite, subtly built up and decidedly bewitching, so much so, I was wearing my heart on my sleeve, simply divine! These words...oh sigh..."I need you, I love you. The world would be a darker place without your bold laugh and your determined spirit" This book is divine, this series is divine, this series has a resounding message of growth, love, determination and of resilience, wrapped in the most beautiful package! You just HAVE to read this!

“Your true worth isn’t measured by your accomplishments. It exists simply in who you are.” 💫

I am officially enchanted by Rachel Morgan’s storytelling. After falling in love with the first book in this series, I knew I would love the next book too — and YES, Deals and Dream Spells totally bewitched me. This sequel brought all the charm, chaos, and slow-burn tension I could ever ask for, set once again in the whimsical Regency-inspired fae realm I now adore so much.

This time, we follow characters we only caught a glimpse of in book 1 — and oh, did they shine. I’ll admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Mariselle when she first appeared...but this book changed my perspective entirely. We get to see the layers behind her confident facade: her loneliness, the pressure from her family, the ache to be accepted for who she really is. I found myself sympathizing with her more and more.

And then there’s Evryn! He was a joy in every scene — witty and just the right amount of chaotic. These two were so alike haha. His banter with Mariselle had me grinning constantly. And that rivals to lovers dynamic? PERFECTION. The tension! The sarcasm! The yearning!! And let me just say — the slow burn is real. The way they gradually shift from snark to softness was beautifully written.

The whole plot was immaculate, every point thought out really well. The generational family feud was written out so well, and at some points I found myself holding my breath as to what would happen now!

But one of my favourite things about this story has to be the magical Dreamland! This was so interesting and the way the author described it made it so easy to visualise. I confess I actually felt like I was there! Mariselle's ability to make dreams come to life was truly bewitching, and I enjoyed every moment.

Rachel Morgan nails the kind of dialogue and emotional build-up that makes you feel like you’re right there. And the way she blends her magical world with such grounded, emotional character arcs is what truly makes this series stand out.

Also? Seeing the return of the main characters from Book 1 was the best surprise — like reuniting with old friends. The crossover moments were perfect and gave this story even more heart!

I honestly couldn’t put this one down, and I am so excited to see what Rachel Morgan brings us in the next installment. If you’re into magical worlds, lovable and memorable characters, BANTER, and slow-burns with a whole lot of heart, you need to start reading this series.

4.5/5 stars - an spellbinding sequel! 🌙

engaging characters but ending left too much unresolved

Rating: 4✨

Deals & Dream Spells, the second book in The Charmed Leaf Legacy series by Rachel Morgan, is very good, but doesn’t quite have the depth of character development and completion of plot that the marvelous introductory story has.

Here in Deals & Dream Spells, Morgan has feuding magical families, two main characters each dealing with various types of personal problems, and one overall story of a dream park waiting to be revived.

However, the issues of these characters are very different, and emotionally unbalanced. While Evryn Rowanwood is hiding his “scandalous pen name” and sarcastic society novels from his loving family, his enemy/partner in bond/fake engagement, Mariselle Brightcrest has far more serious issues to contend with.

Her family is frankly abusive, from terrifying parents to horrible, cruel sister, exactly how awful they are is a fact Mariselle has been avoiding for years. Even her grandmother hasn’t wanted to confront the truth about them and their treatment of Mariselle.
So to protect herself, she’s gone along with her sister and mother in their cruelty and abuse of others, to her detriment.

Especially when she and Evryn have to convince his family of their “love” and engagement. No one wants her in this situation and their family, especially considering Mariselle’s shameful treatment of Iris Starspun in the first book.

The development of Evryn and Mariselle’s relationship is very emotional, often funny and well written. It’s easy to imagine them finding themselves together in the end.

But the story doesn’t really go into depth when addressing their individual issues and pulling together a coherent narrative end to each person’s problem. Evryn’s drops out of the story, and Mariselle’s years of abuse and damage is left to one unsatisfying scene, which really doesn’t resolve much of anything.

It’s a Happy for the Moment ending unlike the first book.

Very puzzling because there is much to admire and really love here.

There’s a third book releasing soon and I’ll be there to see waits on the agenda for this family and the magical regency world.

Deals & Dream Spells is the second book in the Charmed Leaf Legacy series. Jasvian's brother Evryn gets stuck in a magical contract with Mariselle, a Brightcrest, who for a long time have been rivals of the Rowanwoods. With this contract means bringing a once magical Dreamland back to life. Mariselle with her own personal interest blackmails Evyrn into keeping the true meaning behind their new contract marks. Telling everyone it is from a rare soulbond and that they are to be wed.

It was fun watching the two of them interact with eachother over the course of the book. They were both so similar but at the same time due to the old family history, couldnt see past that. Some of my favorite parts were when they interacted with his family, whether it was at their house or at the Charmed Leaf. Both sides had a hard time excepting the situation.

There is more than meets the eye with Mariselle. On the outside she is this cruel uncaring person but once you really get to know her, you discover that is entirely untrue. My heart just breaks for her. All she has ever wanted was to be accepted by her family. Everything she does is to earn their love and respect. Her family truly does not deserve her.

Evryn feels over shadowed by his older brother, Jasvian. He goes to other outlets to help express himself and find meaning. He truly cares for his family and will do anything for them. I love how he interacts with his youngest siblings. Always watching out for them.

I loved being able to step back into this magical & mystical world that Rachel Morgan has created. She had me hooked from the first book. From the characters to all the magical and unique places, it is definitely a place one would love to visit. I cant wait to see whose story we get next. I'm hoping we get some conclusion at some point on how Dreamland is doing once it is fully back up and running.

*I received an ARC for my honest opinion.

I really loved this - just as much as the first one. I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to Tempests & Tea Leaves, but I shouldn’t have doubted. The world Rachel Morgan has created is one that meshes so well with the stories she has told thus far. Tempests & Tea Leaves tackles the subject of a person carving their place in a society determined to write them off, while Deals & Dream Spells tackles the dual subjects of generational feuds and reconciliations - and the reality that no matter what you do, sometimes there is no way to earn the love of people who were never going to give it in the first place.

Mariselle’s journey is beautifully rendered, as she must tackle the reality of what and who her parents are in the face of what she desperately wants them to be. Wrapped within that heartbreaking narrative is an enemies to lovers romance that is so sweet and endearing. Everyn and Mariselle have great chemistry together, and you can really see this family feud start to break down between them with every shared vulnerability between them. Mariselle, who was fundamentally unlikeable in the first book, is given depth and characterization that makes the reader really root for her. She did stuff that sucks in the first book, but the new context this book provides brings new layers to Mariselle’s actions. It’s excellently done, and makes her feel like a very well developed character. Everyn perhaps struggles a bit in terms of not having the same level of depth in development, but I think overall he still feels fleshed out. His struggles as the spare to Jasvian’s heir hint at depths I would have liked to have seen more fleshed out.

Overall, I really loved this one, and I WILL be excited to read book three when it arrives. This is quickly becoming a favorite series for me.

Flawless Feuds and Found Love!

“You have proven to be entirely unlike what I had always presumed to know about you.”

AHHH! I absolutely devoured book one in this series, so I honestly didn’t think book two could top it. I was so wrong. The feuding, the banter, the engagement of convenience, the dreamsharing… flawless. (Note, that you do not need to read book 1 to enjoy book 2).

Mariselle…she’s vibrant, determined, optimistic, and headstrong. She’s trying to hold together a world that keeps tearing her down. What’s a girl to do? She’s convinced that if she can just prove her strength, prove what’s possible, she’ll finally earn the love she’s been denied. I wanted to reach into the pages and give her a hug. Her family? I was SCREAMING. They were the worst.

One of my favorite lines was about her – “She hadn’t built walls to keep others out, but to keep herself intact within the very place that should have nurtured her.”

Evryn…he’s sensitive, clever, and exactly what Mariselle needs. But first he has to get past the decades-old feud and all his assumptions about her. Once he starts to truly see her… GAH. They’re on parallel paths of self-discovery, and it’s so satisfying to watch it unfold.

If you’re craving an enemies to lovers romance, look no further. Pick this one up IMMEDIATELY.

It had me hooked from the first interaction:
“It seems I’ve bested you again, Rowanwood…”

I loved Deals and Dream spells. It's my favorite of the Charmed Leaf Legacy series so far.

I love Evryn his charm and humor his passion and depth and creativity are incredible. I loved how he defended Mariselle to her family. He's Amazing, definitely one of my new favorite MMCs.

I also really liked Mariselle as a character and getting to know who she truly is. Her intelligence and passion, her strength is incredible. Her family is just truly awful, the way they treated her is just terrible. I loved Mariselle's cousin Petunia, she was my favorite side Character, She's hilarious.

I liked seeing a bit more of Evryn's siblings, especially Aurelise, and how attentive Evryn is to his younger siblings it is so endearing. I loved seeing Jasvian support Evryn and stand with him.

I loved the banter and the magical sabotage between Evryn and Mariselle and His ridiculous nicknames, It was highly entertaining, I loved every second of it. I loved it when they finally got together and finally got to kiss. After everything they went through it was certainly well earned and hard fought. Evryn's proposal was so sweet and vulnerable. I loved that he calls her darling, it's my favorite nickname in books.

Overall I just loved this book so much and can't wait for the next book which will be about Evryn's youngest sister Aurelise and the Prince.

Deals and Dream Spells is the second novel in The Charmed Leaf Legacy series and focuses on another couple. This time, the starring role is given to Lady Mariselle Brightcrest and Lord Evryn Rowanwood who are from two rival families owing to a dispute from prior generations. Despite coming from enemy families, the two have a light camaraderie owing to their mutual interest. It is during one of the meetings that they encounter a place both families were once involved with: Dreamland. What happens next is a whirlwind of an adventure.

The wordplay and banter had me struggling to keep a straight face without randomly cackling with glee. I love the way Morgan has a way with words and how she cleverly uses them to drive the interaction(s) between the characters. There was a level of depth that had me squirming a bit uncomfortably at times because of how introspective (and very relatable) Mariselle and Evryn’s relationship with their family got. Nonetheless, their relationship is playful and though antagonistic at times, there is a level of understanding that the two of them share.

I know it took me some time to sit down and write this review but the feels that came with this novel is so well worth it.

Thank you so much to Rachel Morgan for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.

A fae fantasy filled with fun, emotion, over the top and hilarious endearments, banter, and mischief that I enjoyed and loved right to the last page. This isn't a genre I would typically choose, but Rachel just has a way with words and world building that makes you love the characters and their world.
Mariselle and Evryn were perfect for each other through their interactions and playful one-upping-each-other banter and gifts. I loved their family rivalry (but could easily slap Mariselle's family and not be mad about it!). I adore the Rowanwoods and all their members, especially when they're all in the same room. Those moments had me laughing along with their witty banter, and I loved how included Mariselle was with them after the initial wariness.
I enjoyed the storyline, and I'm glad there were hurdles to get over throughout the whole book, it made it that much more interesting to read.
I did feel like I missed something about the whole 'contract' coming into existence, I would've loved to have read how it all came to be, but it was just a little extra to complete the story for me.
I can't wait to find out which Rowanwood family member gets their story told next!

This is the second book in the Charmed Leaf Legacy series.
Following the wonderfully magical world building of the first book, we are introduced to two families, torn apart by a secret.
A rivalry that will have you chomping at the bit, in an accidental contract binding, our two rivals have to work together to rebuild the long forgotten magical attraction, Dreamland.
Mariselle Brightcrest and Evryn Rowanwood is this seasons reluctant pairing, going from sworn enemies to partners, they have to work together to restore Dreamland.
Evryn's ridiculous pet names had me laughing so many times, until the one, the one that send all of us falling off a cliff, soaring on the back of a shared pegasus. As Evryn falls for Mariselle, we the reader get to know this complex character better and in the end, we willing board the ship.
If you are a fan of swoonworthy banter, ridiculous pet names, pranks that will have you wishing you could join in, and an enemies to lovers that will rival all others, this magical world is for you.

I loved this book. From start to finish, it was a magical, romantic ride that had me smiling, swooning, and actually shedding some tears.

At the heart of the story is a brilliant fake-dating, or more accurately a fake soulbond trope that is executed so well. There’s tension, chemistry, and I love the over the top poetry take on the banter.

Like Tempests and Tea Leaves this book also has surprising(?) emotional depth. It’s not just about magical mishaps and swoony moments. It’s about finding the courage to stand up for yourself and choose your own path, even when it means going against what your family or friends expect of you.

The story flows effortlessly, the banter is hilariously over-the-top in the best way, and can we talk about the one pegasus trope? Because it absolutely rivals the iconic “only one bed.”

Pure fun. I love these books. I read the three books that are already published in this series almost non-stop. (Next coming in 2026). Stories are stand-alone but more enjoyable read in order.

The magic in the books is entertaining but the star is the relationships and the struggles we all face.

Book 1 - a half-human learns how to exist in a magical fae world. She finds solace and help at the local tea shop and with the proprietress and her uptight son.

Book 2 - sworn enemies pretend to be engaged. Hilarity ensues with hatred overlaid with acting sweet.

Book 3 - shy girl accidentally corresponds magically with a mystery guy. Things are cute, funny, and gently spicy.

Books have excellent pacing, great editing, witty dialogue, non-stop entertainment, and some observations about human nature along the way.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of this book. This is book 2 in the series. However, I have not yet read the 1st book. I absolutely loved this story. Think of Bridgeton meets Pride & Predjudice with a bit of a Romeo & Juliet element thrown in. It was cozy, it was super magical & oh so romantic. The banter had me laughing out loud, I cried and I swooned and I fell in love with this world. I cannot wait for the rest of the series & also for these books to be released in hard cover for my shelf trophies. The covers are absolutely swoon worthy. Please support this local South African author, her books are amazing. There is no spice, but it definitely did not need it as the characters & plot completely made up for it. Go grab this series now, it's available on Amazon.
