In the wild, there's nowhere to run... and nowhere to hide.

And the shadows of obsession, there’s no such thing as escape.

Cassidy

I came to Pine Ridge for peace—a reset.

After years of grinding through a high-powered life, the idea of a quiet, all-inclusive mountain retreat sounded like exactly what I needed.

But Noah Cross is not the serenity I was promised. He’s always there. On the trail. By the cabin. In the shadows.

At first, I thought it was harmless… maybe even flattering. But then came the gifts. The questions he shouldn’t know the answers to. The feeling that he’s not just watching me—he’s waiting for something.

Now, I’m in a cabin I didn’t choose, in woods I can’t escape, with a man I can’t seem to stop thinking about.

It’s twisted. It’s terrifying.

And it might already be too late.

Noah

She doesn’t see it yet. But she will.

Cassidy Warren was meant to find me. Meant to walk into my woods. Meant to be mine. I’ve been patient. Careful. Waiting a year to put my plan in place, I made sure everything was perfect—the timing, the place, the silence between her thoughts.

And now she’s here.

She thinks this is just a retreat. A fleeting moment of rest from her busy life. But she’s wrong.

This is where she becomes mine. She can fight it. She can scream. She can even try to run.

But in the wild, no one hears you beg.

And Cassidy?

She doesn’t need to beg.

She just needs to stay.

Hunting Cassidy had the potential to be epic, unfortunately fell a little short for my tastes.

Whilst I enjoyed this one for the most part, I was left with a few questions that I felt if answered could have really shot this up in to 5 star territory for me.

The book overall was well paced, though there’s parts of Noah’s past that required far more insight than we were given, and though I didn’t dislike Cassidy’s character— I didn’t love her either and felt she was kind of ‘wishy-washy’ for the most part and for a woman as successful as she was outlined to be, this drew me away from the story a little.

Now, Noah on the other hand… interesting as all heck, and I could not get enough of he’s completely deranged and unhinged ways.
Noah’s character was everything I’d expect from an obsessed stalker, and his reactions were EVERYTHING!

All in all, a great read— though I do think this was mainly because Noah’s character carried most of the story on his back for the most part.

Obsession in the Wilderness

“I’ve just been waiting for the perfect woman to share this with. To give the world to. And she’s the one. She just doesn’t know it yet.”

Hunting Cassidy is a dark stalker romance that leans into obsession, isolation, and the uneasy pull between terror and desire.

Noah is unhinged in the best/worst way—deranged, possessive, meticulous. He’s been watching, waiting, and when Cassidy finally walks into his woods, he makes it very clear: “this place is my kingdom, and she’s my queen, whether she knows it or not.”

The writing is sharp, the tension steady, and I had plenty of wtf moments along the way (plus a few “girl… are you serious?” eye rolls at Cassidy). Noah carried most of the story for me—equal parts terrifying and compelling, and completely deranged. Exactly what I wanted in an obsessed MMC.

Some parts felt a bit cringey, and Cassidy’s character didn’t always live up to the strong, successful image, she appeared to be quite weak in nature and easily giving into the situation. But the atmosphere, the pacing, and Noah’s unrelenting obsession kept me hooked start to finish.

If you’re into stalker romances with a wilderness twist, this one definitely delivers.

I would have like for this book to be a bit longer. I feel like there was a good build up and then a switch is flipped and she suddenly too compliant and willing, and then it ends.
I really liked Noah, I would have liked to know more about him.. he’s the perfect blend of crazy I like in books lol

Are you into possessive, obsessed, masked men who are stalkers??? If so, this is a great book for you to indulge in!!! Hunting Cassidy is part of the Stalkers in the Woods Series. Cassidy is a top lawyer in the big city needing a break from work and all the stress (including the ex that cheated on her). Noah is a sexy mountain man who plans to make Cassidy his after a year of stalking her. Cassidy is not ready to give up big city living to join Noah on the mountain....or is she??? This book is a hot, spicy, page-turner!! I loved the ending!! Also, don't forget to grab the bonus chapter at the end of the book!!! I think I need to find myself a Noah in the mountains!!! He is delicious in this book!!!

Excuse Me, I'm Off to the Woods!

At roughly 250ish pages, this one is a fast read, but what it lacks in pages, it makes up for with a few little twists I didn't see coming!

🌲 Masked Man
☠️ Stalker
🌲 Spice
☠️ Isolation
🌲 I Did It For You

I will certainly be returning for the rest of the series.

Our Heroine is a city lawyer who needs a break after a nasty breakup. Her best friend arranges all of it in a cabin in nowhere. There she meets Noah, who is an employee, but is he?

She starts receiving strange packages and basically being stalked and Noah, well he is the definition of a stalker. I cannot condone what he does in the book.

But aparentelly Cassidy does!

I honestly do not know what to think of this book yet haha. It was too much and not much at the same time hahahaha.

But read it and form your own opinion!.

Definitely delivered on the stalker part of the novel and he was very romantic. Could he have gone about it differently, sure, but he had good intentions. Noah and Cassidy are a couple that will remain in the forefront of my mind.

3 stars for Noah and Noah alone.

The first few chapters had me fooled, I thought this was going to be a fun cute stalker romance. How wrong I was. The MMC Noah is unhinged to the point of being infuriated because Cassidy, the FMC, doesn't want his stalkerish attention and telling him that. His ensuing thoughts and actions are insane.

Noah is the perfect unhinged stalker. He knows what he wants and goed for it, it doesn't matter what Cassidy wants. Cassidy however is a bit of a letdown. She's a lawyer, but dumb as a rock. Being attracted to a red flag isn't weird, but not calling the police when a body part finds it's way to your porch is. There was a lot of body betrayal but apart from that she's very hesitant and tries to find ways to go home. However, somewhere is the last chapters she does a 180 and suddenly wants to stay with him.

What I really didn't like about this story is that Noah has done this before with another woman. It's mentioned multiple times but it's not used for the plot AT ALL. It's unnecessary and makes his obsession with Cassidy feel like it's not that special.

All in all, Cassidy is dumb, Without Noah this would've been a disaster.

I really was on the verge of giving this book a much higher review.
UNTIL I reached the 80% mark of the book.

Suddenly the buts started appearing, followed by the ands. Starting sentences unnecessarily.
While often detracting from what could have just been a clear, concise, straightforward statement.

That being said.

This novel is intended for mature readers age 18, and over.
It contains open door explicit content.
It is a very dark romance.

The themes involved in this book are not for the faint hearted.
These can easily be triggering for readers, and I encourage everyone to know your triggers.

The content, and situations involved in this book may include but, are not limited to:

Stalking; Kidnapping; Assault to characters other then MFC; Murder on Page; Primal/Prey scenarios; Bondage, DubCon, Possessiveness; Forced isolation; Controlling, and Manipulative Behaviours.

Please see Author’s page, book description and author’s notes for further information pertaining to potential triggers.

Noah is independently wealthy, comes from money, and owns the Pine Ridge retreat in the mountains. He is not morally grey. He is a pitch black sadistic love interest. Who is obsessed with Cassidy. Who also has touch her, threaten her, or our happiness, and you will die, literally compulsions.

Cassidy is a partner at a law firm practicing corporate, and environmental law.
Think of cases Erin Brockovich would battle for.
She has been in a long term, and very unsatisfying relationship for an unspecified number of years with Stuart.

Stuart is also a partner at the same law firm.

I did really like this novel. It was captivating, and has a well thought through storyline.
The characters have believable backstories, and behaviours.
The mental struggles, and teeter tottering Cassidy faced were well composed.
As well as articulated in a fairly consistent, mature, and concise manner.
For the majority of the book.

I will again state my disappointment because, there are no ands or buts about things.
Especially when making a statement or that is the implied intention given to the reader.

I would recommend this book series to anyone who understands this is not a book for everyone.
This does not showcase the ideal, romantic, and hallmark style love story.

Noah figures out how to prove his love in his own twisted unconventional ways.
This does end in a HEA, and is a standalone novel.
That contains characters and an interconnected storylines which continue into further publications in this series.
This is book #1, and for anyone contemplating this book in the future.
I highly recommend starting this series from the beginning. You will understand the characters, their histories, personalities, and motivations better, if you do.

Book #2 Hunting Harbor currently is expected to be released the 1st of June 2025.

If you've ever dreamed of escaping the urban grind for a quiet mountain retreat, this book might just cure you of that fantasy. What waits in the wilderness is not the rest and relaxation Cassidy was expecting. Noah has waited a whole year to get Cassidy exactly where he wants her —quietly watching, meticulously planning, and now he finally has Cassidy right where he wants her. What follows is less of a romantic courtship and more of an unsettling psychological campaign to convince Cassidy to stay... forever. Subtlety isn’t exactly Noah’s strong suit. Every move is calculated. Every gift, every word, every eerie comfort tailored to her preferences, learned from a year of stalking her every move. He calls it love. Others might call it something closer to obsession. Yet, here’s where things get weirdly compelling because Cassidy—isolated and slowly unraveling—starts to feel something back. Not just fear. Not just revulsion. Something darker. Something that looks dangerously like acceptance. Her attempts to escape are half-hearted, as if some part of her wants to remain in Noah’s web. Even that chase through the forest felt less like a sprint for freedom and more like foreplay. Perhaps the one element that threw me was learning that Cassidy was not Noah’s “first try” at this whole twisted love experiment. That detail threatened to unravel the illusion of Cassidy being unique. However, Noah’s unwavering focus is almost admirable—if only it weren’t so terrifying. For all his madness, Noah is mesmerizing. He is the eye of the storm—calm, unflinching, utterly convinced this is their destiny. The contrast between his gentleness with Cassidy and his utter ruthlessness toward anyone else is deeply chilling. You can’t look away. He eclipses Cassidy entirely, often making Cassidy feel like a shadow in her own tale. If I could split my rating, the first 75% would earn a gleaming five stars for its unrelenting tension and deeply unnerving atmosphere. The ending, though, falters and lacks the reckoning the story deserves and feels like a betrayal of Cassidy’s potential. I had really hoped Casidy would give Noah much more of a run for his money. Still, the book lingers. Sinister, seductive, and profoundly unsettling— just don’t read it before your next solo hiking trip – unless, of course your idea of “getting away from it all” includes being stalked, captured and crowned someone’s reluctant “mountain queen.”

If you need a quick dark read this is one to grab!!

You can expect an OTT possessive/obsessed MMC who crosses the lines of what is socially acceptable. Noah is intense and once he sets his sight on Cassidy he becomes hyper-fixated on her and his need to claim her as his forever. After inheriting his late father's fortune/companies Noah decides he would rather continue his outdoorsy life at his retreat, where he can now finally confront Cassidy and make her his forever. Yes, he is sweet and creepy at times which just adds an extra layer of complexity to his character. I mean poor Cassidy even has a hard time understanding why she's so drawn to him after some wild moments they share.

Speaking of Cassidy we learn she's a lawyer who split up with her cheating ex who also works with her, so of course she needs a break from her hectic/chaotic life at the moment. After a coworker/friend has given her a week long wilderness retreat vacation she's decides why not and goes off the grid where she meets an intense tour guide Noah and finds out how far she's willing to go into his crazy possessive relationship he has deemed as his forever love. Cassidy definitely wavers a time or two but for some reason, she knows she seeks his touch and attention even if it's traditionally wrong. So be ready for a twisted love affair with these two.

If you love the possessive/obsessive unhinged mmc, fierce fmc, surprise gift,
wild twisted love story, and spicy unhinged moments this is a must read. It's a fast paced quick read you can get done in one sitting that has those dark themes any dark romance readers love. Be ready for this OTT crazy unhinged world this author brings to life that will pull you in till the last page.

Overall: 4/☆☆☆☆☆

My first thought is thank you for putting the name of the fmc in the title, because I’m not gonna do with names. This plot was a pretty typical dark romance plot. Some stalking at the start, I have to say the best part of stalking is getting gifted the severed parts of cheating exes. Stockholm syndrome or captive x captor trope is a trope im seriously addicted to now and I honestly think Noah did an amazing job. Yes his measures for her to get there were desperate and wrong, and was a non-con scene and a few dubcons but most of the time he was very sweet and respectful. He takes her out to see the stars and goes on hikes and picnics with her. I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting the graphic murder scenes and cleaning up the mess, so watch out for that. Couple plot twists, if you can call it a twist, were really just little problems to keep the plot going. My problem with Cassidy is while I love that it didn’t take her too long to warm up to him at first, but after that major hiccup, I expected there to be more fighting and rejection, the way she just let it go wasn’t natural at all, but then again getting kidnapped and falling in love with your kidnapper isn’t exactly normal either. Either way I did enjoy this, I like how it wasn’t dragged out and Noah is the perfect obsessed captor, a 4/5.

Cassidy needs a break from her stressful job as a lawyer - at the same firm where her cheating ex is a partner and refuses to leave her alone. She attends a wilderness retreat suggested by a friend and encounters Noah, a handsome hiking guide that seems overly interested. Suddenly, Cassidy realizes Noah knows way more about her than he should. Now she's being hunted through the mountains by a man who's obsessed with her. Can she escape, or will she be seduced by the alpha male mountain man?

I had so much fun reading this. The writing was a style new to me, but I really enjoyed the casual, easy flow of the story. This is a relatively quick read, but Cassidy's struggle against her attraction and growing affection for Noah draws you in.

I recommend this if you enjoy stalkers that know what they want, take what they want, and the object of their obsession that doesn't just take it easy on them.

I dnf’d this book at 50%, unfortunately it just wasn’t hitting right for me. The author had some interesting ideas when it comes to dark romance & I’m sure that’s why many will enjoy this. I found the pace of the story to be way too fast in the beginning, there wasn’t much build up. I wanted more back story from Noah and why he chose to stalk Cassidy. I think more games need to be played psychologically for me to take a real interest in these characters. Not only that but their relationship didn’t feel special or like Noah’s stalking was so warranted because he’d done it to other woman before her. That was a bit of a downer for me personally, knowing she wasn’t his first obsession. Obviously this doesn’t take away from the author’s writing or style, it’s just my own preferences, therefore I’ve rated this book 3 stars. I look forward to seeing how the author’s work progress with time.

Whoo if that was book 1 what are the others in the series going to bring. I loved Tithe insight from both characters. Haven has a funny sense of humor at random times, which I appreciate. In all honesty my favorite line is “I wouldn’t lie to you. To other people, yes. But never to you.” He pulls back enough to look me in the eyes, his eyes dark in the shadows of his mask. “You’re not her simply based on the fact that I love you.” It’s the part I feel that she and you see the real him for all he is, it just might be the best moment in the book. When I read that I felt it with all my heart, you know how you get those moments? Haven, knows what she is doing. I can not wait to see what else she can do. This is for sure a 5 star 3 spice for me. Loved the extra epilogue too, so sweet and cute.

Hunting Cassidy was my first stalker romance and it was a ride. I thought the beginning went by really slow and at times it was a bit confusing. Noah was SUPER intense right off the bat and was a bit much for my test especially for Cassidy struggling to “wrap” her mind around Noah. Things do start to make sense after sometime; Noah stays intense lol Chapter 4 🤯. Spice be spicy. I do feel that there was a point in the book were there was a flip that did have much to back it up and then it was just dark romance from there. Maybe because this was my first stalker romance but it all just seemed like forced love instead of genuine love even for your stalker. Overall, I think it was a good book.

I received this book as an arc, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it.
This book follows Cassidy, who went to Pine Ridge for some escape from the normal rat race of her lawyer job. She was hoping to find some peace and quiet.
There is also Noah, who happens to own Pine Ridge but he is always there watching Cassidy, helping her, just being overbearing. Well maybe possessive and obsessive would be more like him.
First check the trigger warnings, they are there for a reason. I also did not expect to laugh but I did laugh quite a bit. Haven's sense of descriptive imagination had me giggling. Cassidy wasn’t overly annoying & didn’t make things harder for the sake of drama, which I appreciated. Cassidy battled her attraction to Noah throughout the whole book. It was a constant battle between what her brain should have thought but what her heart actually wanted, until she finally said screw it I’m listening to one over the other.
My favorite scene is when "something" comes flying by her face. It is intense and you might want to hate the MMC, Noah, because he is a stalker but alas, I could not at all. Overall, this book was brilliant and I loved it. Cannot wait to read more of Haven’s books!

Noah is so unhinged. I can't stop thinking about it. Cassidy is on a trip in the wilderness, trying to destress from her busy, stressful everyday life. She meets Noah here, but unknown to her, Noah has known who she is and sort of manipulated the whole trip. He's been stalking her and has every intention of never letting her return back to her normal life. Maybe if he had asked her out and went about it the right way, he'd have had a better chance, but, I guess Cassidy's attraction to him can overcome anything. This was a quick read and was well written. I loved Cassidy and think her character is smart and witty. Noah... was the icing on the cake though. His character is dark and endearing at the same time? Overall, a decent story.

This book was an absolute blast! Noah radiates all the intense, protective energy that makes for a gripping and—let’s be honest—swoon-worthy read. His devotion to Cassidy is undeniable, though maybe a little too much at times… but who doesn’t secretly want to be pursued through the woods by their own Noah?

There were so many laugh-out-loud moments, and I found myself giggling more often than I expected. While some scenes had me questioning whether I *should* be swooning as hard as I was, I couldn’t help but enjoy the ride.

A fun, fast-paced story that delivers on tension, devotion, and just the right amount of unintentional comedy. Would recommend!.

So, we’ve got our FMC who’s on a rebound from her ex who cheated on her. She’s a lawyer and just needs a vacation from life. On a suggestion from a friend, she books an adult retreat.

Our MMC (one of the hiking guides) is elated, of course.

What we have is our MMC displaying stalker tendencies (cameras in the woods/cabins, he’s reading her journal entries, hacking her emails, etc).

How deep does he go?

At the end of each chapter is a journal entry from the FMC, which is kind of neat. You can read those and Noah’s comments that he leaves.

Some parts are a bit cringy, and there are grammatical errors, but whatever. I’ll try the second in the series.

Quote: “You won’t leave me, Cassidy, because if you leave, you’re walking out on the one man in the world who doesn’t care about consequences so long as you’re safe.”

Dual POV, HEA
Masked MMC, Forced BJ, cutting out a BC implant, isolation, some primal. He builds her their “Forever Cabin”

Noah and Cassidy.....well, The author said at the end of chapters there are Cassidy's journal pages, read them or not. For me, they confused me more than anything. They said one thing but the book was reading something opposite, so I didn't know where her head was really at. I assumed the journal cuz why would you lie to yourself? But then nearer the end things came together with her, thankfully. Noah I felt I needed more on him as a character, there isn't too much. Your typical obsessed stalker who is possessive of the MFC, and throw in a bit unhinged and you're good--he nailed it . I liked how this ended up coming together, I just wish there was a little more background on the characters than there was. It was not a bad read even with typos, I was able to figure it all out.

Wow, just wow! I'm still fairly new to Dark Romance books, because I've always been a fantasy lover but I'm so sold!

Noah is such an interesting character to me because his past is still a mystery, and his mind is unhinged in a silent but deadly way. The way he plans and reacts shows he is incredibly smart and statistical.

Cassidy's character is more easy to understand, which was nice. Hating her life deep down, and only being able to realize it through Noah was a wonderful touch.

I've never felt more invested and connected to a book before but this one had me reading until 3 AM (I wish that was a joke..)

Haven writes so beautifully, and my heart is squeezing in excitement to read all of her works. I think I have found one of my favorite authors of all time.

I am one who likes her stalker romances but I just could not get into this one. There didn’t feel like there was a reasoning behind why he was obsessed with her (of course in normal world there would be no understandable reason lol). Maybe we find out more past where I stopped but it’s not like it was giving us any real teasers to want to learn more. And with the FMC, I couldn’t connect or understand her either. I can’t put my finger on it, there was just no connection going on.
I do think with some more background of both characters earlier in the book, maybe could get into this story and connect with the MCs. I’m not one for a wordy book but we needed MORE.

What a ride this book took me on. When they say stalker possessive mmc Noah gives whole new meaning. The dedication and patience this man had was unmatched lol. Enjoyed the story very much it def kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to Happen. Fmc Cassidy was def different and ended up being in a way perfectly meant for him. Loved the way Noah was always so casual about the things he had done when he would talk about them I loved that. The spice was very very good I gave it 4🌶️ most def would recommend.

Noah is a completely unhinged stalker with sociopathic tendencies and what seems like a penchant for violence. Cassidy is a dumb as rocks lawyer (how does that even happen??) who starts out not wanting a stalker/attention.

The book felt like someone pressed fast forward, and there was no pause button. Truly difficult to try and read, and the characters' inner thoughts/ monologues seemed like an endless flow of words. the tense changes in the middle of a paragraph drove me nuts as well.

I really liked this!! She's a new to me author & this is Noah & Cassidy's story. He's been obsessed & stalking her for a long time, but she didn't realize. He did some things to make sure they ended up on a retreat together. They end up going off grid for a while & she doesn't realize what's happening really. But, he has plans & he also has a friend that's just as bad as he is. (the friend isn't involved with Cassidy) The spice was fantastic & this was a short & quick read. Recommend this novella & author!

ARC review for Hunting Cassidy, first standalone in the Stalkers in the Woods interconnected series. Seeking a retreat in Pine Ridge, Cassidy heads for the wilderness, but someone may have had a hand on the wheel steering where she would end up. Noah is everything you want to read in a dark stalker, he may be obsessed with, but he’s also protective of her at the same time. Cassidy and Noah are insanely intense! I couldn’t put this book down, highly recommend.

Cassidy needed a break. So she went on what she thought was a mountain retreat in a secluded cabin. It is there that she meets Noah. He owns this part of the mountain and acts as her tour guide and also your friendly st@lker. Cassidy definitely knows he's a bit over the top and quirky but still she finds herself drawn to him. If you love an over-the-top possessive male character, you will fall in love with Noah and even his st@lking tendencies. I love reading dark romance especially when the MMC has Noah's traits. This is definitely a great book.

Hunting Cassidy is a spice filled, high tension, stalker/killer romance; which is exactly what I was needing when I picked this up. I found this little gem in a stuff your kindle event, and was dragged in by the title and tropes listed. With such tropes as:

- Morally black MMC
- Stalker
- Killer
- Forced proximity
- Masked MMC

How exactly could I pass that up?! If you are a fan of Haunting Adeline, then you'd likely enjoy this as well. It has similar concepts but is unique in it's setting and story telling. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read and would defintely recommend!
