There’s plenty of laughter, magical creatures, battles, and more tension than you can shake a goblin at.

Evelyn Hart has once again proven her ability to blend rich worldbuilding, emotional depth, and high-stakes tension in her newly released novel Steeling Light. From the very beginning, the story grips you with its layered characters and intricate plotlines, weaving together themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the pursuit of truth in a world shadowed by secrets.
The pacing allows you to savor the slow build of tension and character growth, while still delivering action-packed moments that keep the pages flying. Hart’s writing shines brightest in the way she develops her characters’ inner struggles—balancing loyalty, love, and survival against nearly impossible odds. Each revelation and twist feels earned, pulling you deeper into the stakes of this world.
If I had to pinpoint why this wasn’t quite a full 5-star read for me, it would simply be a few moments where the pacing felt stretched a little longer than necessary. But by the final chapters, I was fully immersed—the payoff was both satisfying and memorable.
Overall, Steeling Light is a powerful continuation of Hart’s storytelling legacy—a book that will leave readers both satisfied and eager for what’s next. Evelyn Hart has crafted something both heart-wrenching and hopeful, and it deserves a spot on every fantasy lover’s shelf.

Loved it! I had no idea how much I needed Ainslee in my life! She’s been through it & came out on the other side. Her heritage is from both The House of Steel(paternal) & The House of Light(maternal). Lee gets sent on a journey by Maeve to find Vesta & her book. However when someone is made of shadows they can be very hard to find. So there are lots of side quests & trials that need to be gone through before she can get the answers she needs. She finds out that the power of Light is just as powerful as the power of Steel. Sometimes stronger. You need light to drive out the darkness. Steel wont help you in that battle. Lee learns that lesson & so does Rhion. Speaking of Rhion. When they were kids they were very good friends. He worshipped her even back then. That friendship soured, then the became enemy’s due to his father. This is definitely an enemy’s to lovers book. Throughout their lives they’ve been friends, enemy’s, allies, friends & finally lovers. I honestly didn’t think Rhion could do anything that would make me actually like him… I was wrong. He definitely redeemed himself in my eyes.

OMG I thought this was the last book in the series! Will there be another book or the same world different characters! I’m on the edge of my seat!!! I can’t express how amazing this series is. This author definitely does not hold back on the shock factor. High fantasy twists and turns and unexpected gasps throughout. You will smile, have tears and be emotionally raging! The world building is next level that keeps building and the characters are so well written that you feel like you literally know them deeply! I’m in love forever and it will forever be attached to me! I 100% recommend this series! -Kerin Ray

Steeling Light was such an incredible wrap-up to the Shadowed Debts series! I love when we get to revisit a favorite world but with the spotlight on characters who were more in the background before. Ainslee & Rhion’s story had me hooked, and Evelyn Hart did such a beautiful job with their journey. The way this book tied everything together while also setting us up for the next generation of Nyth characters was just chef’s kiss. I cannot wait to dive into Azric’s story!!
