Raised on the edge of The Wilds, Enguer Rand understood well the feral savagery of nature. His father was a legendary Ranger whose quiet, bitter teaching prepared Enguer with the skills to survive in such an unforgiving environment and, more importantly, accept its harsh realities. And when his father died, The Wilds welcomed Enguer with warm memories and purpose for a life unaccustomed to urban comforts and social graces.
But fate had other plans, and just when Enguer thought he would slip silently into the wilderness and the obscurity it offered, an old friend of his father’s showed up unexpectedly on his doorstep. A High Priest of Sunna with fearsome tales of homes raided in the night, citizens abducted from their beds and farmers attacked viciously by ferocious beasts before melting back into the shadows. Patrols sent into the gloom of The Wilds in pursuit of the invaders never returned, and the fate of those taken alive was the subject of horrifying speculation. The terrified populace of Courth was on the edge of panic.
Following a twisted path of uncertainty, Enguer would soon find himself face to face with the awful truth behind the beasts of Courth and the life-changing events that would catapult him onto an even larger stage of malicious intrigue and deceit. In this new world, he would have to make a choice— to kill the beasts or become one.

Born in Homestead, Florida, Ravek Hunter grew up in the United States and Belgium. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Florida International University and went on to become a sporting goods executive. He currently serves as a consultant in the same industry and occasionally assists his wife of twenty years at her floral design company. The proud father of two boys, Ravek counts reading, exercising, and family travel among his leisure hobbies.
Over the past four decades, Ravek’s passion has been researching ancient civilizations with a focus on the origin stories behind their mythology. His writing style attempts to immerse the reader into the story by bringing to life historically accurate, rich details of the culture and time-period that frame the narrative.
