Journalist Zahir Sinclair went undercover seeking a story, infiltrating the opulent, shadowy world of Axel Banks. But a single misstep throws him directly into the arms—and the undeniable claim—of the enigmatic billionaire himself.

Forced into the role of Axel's fiancé as a shield against looming danger, Zahir finds himself trapped not just by circumstance, but by a magnetic pull he can't ignore. Behind Axel's calculating eyes and possessive touch lies a vulnerability Zahir can't resist exploring, even as a deadly rival closes in.

Can Zahir resist the intoxicating pull of the man who holds his fate—and his traitorous heart—captive, or will surrendering to Axel's dangerous allure cost him the truth, his mission, and potentially, his life?

Free was too expensive. Absurdly repetitive, all telling. Journalist dresses as a caterer, billionaire crime lord announces he’s his fiancé and kidnaps him to his giant mansion, they barely speak for 1 day, and then a plot element happens near the end and leaves on a cliffhanger.
MC uses the most nightmarishly embarrassingly bad “secret coded message” to his editor I have ever heard. He just flat out indicates the name of the billionaire and says a lot of other loaded things. He is not a smart man.

This is 90 pages.
“Fiancé” was used 33 times.
“Gilded cage” was used 18 times.
“Journalistic” was used 18 times.
“Dangerous game” was used 6 times.
“Vulnerability” was used 29 times.
Constant glimmers and flickers and glimpses of “something else”

Once again, all telling. We have the reminder that he’s trapped in a gilded cage and is playing the role of fiancé over and over and over again, but the story takes place over very little time and we don’t actually see him do almost anything. Occasionally we are informed he was very clever and good at acting like a fiancé at a meal, but the scene isn’t actually written out and shown.

1 star wouldn’t read again.

At least this allowed me to use the new DNF shelf for the first time.

I won't rate it, because I never got pass the 27 per cent mark.

Not even being free is worth one-clicking on this one.

Which is strange because the premise is good the first half of chapter one had promise.

I don't know what happened after that and I don't want to know.

Good luck to him and his "journalistic" abilities.

Little Secrets Become Huge Threats and Risks to Greed and Jealousy

How do you justify organized crime, let alone two crime bosses enabling their teams to finally get into the battle for overall control of the crime economy? When is it not of interest to a journalist to try to learn more about what is happening? But when everything becomes a battle for secrets to leverage for more power, how do you survive the inside situations to be able to report what really happened? Trust your boss and source for protection.

This book was not for me. There are a lot of descriptions in this book, it made me lose both focus and interest.

Good story

This was a good story with suspense and a cliffhanger at the end. Now I’ll need to get the next book. Lol
