3.5 stars: First book that I am reading by this author and I have to say that she has done quite well when it comes to touching upon rather difficult matters, from self-harm and sorrow to battling through one's own demons. The FMC has been portrayed quite well as she attempts to navigate her own depression after losing someone very dear to her. The amount of pain could easily be felt through the story and I could not help, but feel for the main heroine.

The MMCs here actually do take their time to get to know her prior to approaching her with their intensions. I would have preferred to see these three learning more about each other in the six months that she has been working at their tattoo shop rather than being fast forwarded to the beginning of their relationship. All three have obstacles to overcome and as the main heroine battles with her own trauma it becomes a bit too much at times. There is a slight distancing between the characters, but I thought that was necessary, so that they could eventually start fresh.
There were things I did not appreciate here and the MMCs did make some rather questionable decisions.

I did struggle a bit with the story and to an extent, the writing itself, but I was invested in the heroine's journey as in life we need to find the strength to pick ourselves up and allow a helping hand when needed. That takes courage and also admitting to yourself that there is an issue that you need to face. All in all, this was a good story that focuses on overcoming grief and hardships.

In Kahlani B. Steele’s Courageous: She Will Not Let Fear Stop Her, Clark has faced an overwhelming amount of sadness in her life. At a young age, she discovered that cutting provided her with a brief escape from her pain. It’s heartbreaking to think about how much she longed for someone to step in and show her that not everything in the world is dark and hopeless.

The Iconic Sons MC might be the haven she needs. When she unexpectedly wanders into a tattoo parlor seeking a job, she meets Vin and Gun, two motorcycle club members. This moment could mark a pivotal turning point in her life—a chance for healing and redemption. Yet, the question lingers: will she open her heart to the possibility of change, or will fear push her away, leading her back to self-harm? Life offers many opportunities, but how often do we find ourselves in a position where we could mean something special to not just one man, but two?

Kahlani B. Steele introduces readers to the enchanting character of Clark, whose journey unfolds alongside two pivotal figures: Vin and Gun. Together, they form a compelling romantic trio that will linger in your memory. As their stories intertwine, the deep connection between them reveals a profound love that will tug at your heartstrings, leaving you yearning for the experiences that Clark has yet to embrace.

With every turn of the page, you’ll find yourself rooting for her to take a chance on both Vin and Gun, despite the complexities that come with such an unconventional romance. When Clark finally chooses, readers are treated to a steamy and passionate escapade that ignites the pages with raw emotion and undeniable chemistry. Steele’s vivid prose delivers a tantalizing exploration of love, trust, and self-discovery, making each chapter an exhilarating ride that leaves you breathless and hungry for more. Prepare to be captivated by this unforgettable story that invites you to explore the depths of desire and the beauty of taking risks in love.

This is the second book in the Iconic Sons MC series. Even without reading the first, I was fully immersed in this installment and enchanted by the series. I am excitedly looking forward to exploring both the first and third books. If you’re searching for a series featuring passionate love scenes that sizzle with intensity and unexpected plot twists that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, then look no further. This captivating love story skillfully breaks conventional boundaries, offering a fresh and exhilarating perspective on romance. I wholeheartedly give Courageous by Kahlani B. Steele a five-star rating and can’t wait to add Steele to my list of new favorite authors, as her storytelling has truly impressed me. You’ll be hooked from the very first page!

Kahlani B. Steele's second instalment in the Iconic Sons MC series, "Courageous," is a gritty and emotionally charged tale that delves into the complex dynamics between a troubled young woman and two alpha males from a notorious motorcycle club.

The novel's protagonist, Clark, is a deeply scarred individual, both physically and emotionally, having endured the devastating loss of her loved ones. Trapped in a vicious cycle of grief and despair, she resorts to self-harm as a coping mechanism, finding a twisted solace in the sharp sting of a blade against her skin. A chance encounter with Vin and Gun, the ruggedly handsome owners of Blood Tattoos, sets her on a new path. As she begins working at their tattoo shop, Clark discovers a renewed sense of purpose and belonging that helps her resist the urge to harm herself.

Vin and Gun are no ordinary men - they are deeply entrenched in the Iconic Sons MC, a brotherhood bound by a strict code of honour and loyalty. As Clark's protective instincts kick in, she finds herself drawn into their dangerous world, determined to shield them from the perils that come with the MC lifestyle. Yet Vin and Gun, fiercely proud and unyielding in their commitment to the club, refuse to let her interfere.

Despite the initial friction between them, the undeniable sexual tension simmering beneath the surface eventually ignites into a passionate and complicated relationship.

Though "Courageous" presents an intriguing concept of Clark overcoming her troubled past and inner turmoil, the novel ultimately fails to deliver on its promising potential due to structural issues and underdeveloped character arcs.

The jarring shift from the emotionally charged prologue depicting her traumatic backstory to the melancholic opening chapter focused on her grief feels abrupt and disjointed, leaving the reader disoriented by the lack of connective tissue bridging these two pivotal moments.

The author's perplexing decision to skip ahead six months into the heroine's tenure at the tattoo parlour robs the narrative of the opportunity to organically develop the core relationship dynamics. A more measured, gradual portrayal of her acclimation to the new workplace and tentative bonds formed with Vin and Gun during those initial months could have imbued the story with a richer emotional texture and a sturdier framework for the characters' journeys.

As is, the accelerated timeline undercuts the believability and impact of the heroine's transformation, while the supporting cast remains regrettably two-dimensional, deprived of the nuance and growth needed to forge a truly resonant tale of resilience and redemption.

In her second installment of the Iconic Sons MC series, Steele delivers a gritty, emotionally charged romance that rides the edge between darkness and desire. For Clark, grief is not a wave but a constant tide. Haunted by the suicides of her fiancé and loved ones, and struggling with self-harm as a form of control, she’s built a fragile wall between herself and the world. Then she stumbles into Blood Tattoos, a shop owned by two magnetic, maddeningly protective bikers, Vin and Gun, and everything begins to shift. What starts as a job becomes a lifeline.

Vin and Gun, raised in the rugged loyalty of the Iconic Sons Motorcycle Club, are hard-edged alphas with vulnerable cores. Steele doesn’t reduce them to tropes. Yes, they’re brawny, brooding, and tattooed, but they’re also men who recognize pain when they see it and choose, over and over again, to show up. When they discover Clark’s history of self-harm, the impact is visceral. Steele doesn’t shy away from the weight of that moment, or the hard conversations that follow. The men’s response is raw but never cruel; they don't flinch from Clark’s past; they lean in.

Still, the novel avoids easy redemption arcs. The MC world has rules, boundaries, and a history of violence that Clark doesn’t want to be part of. Her instincts to retreat and protect herself clash with the iron loyalty Vin and Gun have to their club. Steele uses this friction to explore deeper emotional territory: what does it mean to belong? To trust? To let yourself be seen? As the tension simmers into a full-fledged, three-way romance, Steele resists melodrama in favor of slow-burning chemistry and earned intimacy. The sex is scorching, but the heart of the story is emotional reclamation: of identity, of connection, of hope. There’s gang drama here, of course: rivalries, secrets, close calls. But Steele keeps the emotional stakes front and center. At times, the prose leans heavily on exposition, but even when the pacing stumbles, the story’s emotional core remains strong. Steele’s strength lies in the contrast she draws between the rawness of biker life and the tenderness of three wounded people trying to build something real. For readers who crave romance with grit, heat, and heart—who want bad boys with big feelings and women who refuse to be saved—this one delivers. Fans of "Motorcycle Man" by Kristen Ashley and steamy unconventional romances will find much to devour here.

Courage: She Will Not Let Her Fear Stop Her, is an open door, MMF, motorcycle club romance, written by Kahlani B. Steele. It’s the second book in series, each book following a different Thropple and the books are probably enjoyed better if read them in order. (Which I didn’t but was totally fine following the story).

This book follows a woman named Clark who is has a trouble upbringing, is mourning the loss her fiancé, struggling with her mental health, and uses cutting as a means to cope with panic attacks. Until one day when she meets 2 men who happen to be members of the Iconic Sons Motorcycle club, and who also own a tattoo parlor, where they offer her a job.

Their names are Gunnier and Vin and they like to share everything, so much so that they want to share her. This is where I believe the books gets a little convoluted, and not because of the sharing, I personally love a good thropple book. A lot is going on in this book and it feels like there are 5 story lines happening at once, it didn’t feel succinct, and I felt like a lot could have been left out. Here’s a list of all the different topics:

1.) Clark is in a deep depression suffering from the loss her if fiancé and self harming to cope.
2.) Clark isn’t ready for any relationship, much less a relationship with two men.
3) Vin and Gun are over protect of Clark, not wanting her to be involved with their MC, not wanting her to put herself at risk, and not wanting he to to harm her herself, which causes conflict in their relationship.
4.) Clark is strong, resilient, but needs therapy which leads to a whole redemption arc for herself
5.) Follow up stories from the previous book.
6.) Clark finds a new family with this MC
7.) Someone’s trying to harm Gunner.

These topics are jumped through in the book, in a way that doesn’t feel cohesive. many of these topics feel like they either need to be focused on more, or not included at all. Which is disappointing because there are some good topics and the book has some good characters, but it doesn’t hit right. I didn’t dislike the book exactly. There were parts where I was really drawn in, and parts where I wanted to out it down. I just feel like I would have liked the book more if it had been written in a different style (maybe duel POV), or with a better timeline of events.

Courageous tells the story of Clark, a woman whose life is shaped by loss, trauma, and the search for healing. From the pain of abandonment as a child to the heartbreak of losing Archer, the love who could not stay, she battles self-doubt, grief, and the lure of self-destruction. Her journey leads her into the orbit of Gun and Vin, two powerful, enigmatic bikers whose tattoo shop becomes not just her workplace but a crossroads for transformation. The book blends raw depictions of mental health struggles with moments of romance, danger, and resilience, painting a portrait of a woman trying to rebuild when it feels like the world has already broken her.

What I liked most about the writing is how unflinchingly it stares at darkness. Steele does not flinch from describing Clark’s scars, both physical and emotional, and I felt that weight. At times, it made me uneasy; other times, it made me ache for her. The prose is straightforward but carries an emotional punch, with certain passages almost too sharp to keep reading. I liked how the author layered the MC world with tenderness, showing that even rough men in leather can surprise you with kindness or depth.

The chemistry is palpable, and the tension between Clark, Vin, and Gun had me flipping pages with a mix of dread and thrill. Some of the power dynamics made me squirm. Commands, threats, and possessiveness are part of the MC romance formula. I couldn’t deny the intensity. It made me feel like I was on the back of a bike, hanging on tight, unsure if I’d fall but unable to let go. And I admire that Steele didn’t tie everything up neatly. Healing in this book isn’t quick or clean. It’s jagged, like the lines of a tattoo.

Reading Courageous reminded me of the emotional rawness of Tarryn Fisher’s novels mixed with the gritty, high-stakes intensity of Kristen Ashley’s MC romances, only Steele leans harder into the pain and healing side of the journey. Courageous is raw, gritty, and at times heartbreaking, but it’s also laced with hope and sparks of joy. I would recommend it to readers seeking more than surface-level romance, particularly those who can handle tough themes like grief, trauma, and self-harm, while still craving the heat and loyalty of MC love stories.

Kahlani B. Steele's Courageous is a powerful and important read that tackles some of life's most fundamental questions using a straightforward and accessible language. The narrative, which often revolves around themes such as faith, courage, and family relationships, feels both relevant and grounded. This is a book that doesn't just entertain; it genuinely addresses important topics and prompts the reader to reflect on their own roles and relationships.

Strengths: Intimate and Important Message
One of the book's greatest merits is how effectively Steele manages to handle heavy themes in a way that is easy to grasp. The story flows smoothly, making the pages turn almost by themselves. The dilemmas and challenges the characters face feel genuinely human, ensuring that the book’s core message resonates strongly. I found Courageous to be a good and inspiring reading experience.

Mixed Feelings: A Longing for the First Book
While I appreciated the new story and its characters, I couldn't completely shake the feeling of missing the characters I had gotten to know in the previous installment of the series. Although the new "crew" is delightful and engaging, there were moments when I wished the old voices had taken up more space. However, this is more of a personal reflection—a testament to how much I enjoyed Steele's previous character gallery—rather than a criticism of Courageous itself.

Conclusion
Courageous by Kahlani B. Steele is a book that deserves to be read. It successfully combines a compelling plot with an important ethical message. It leaves the reader with a hopeful feeling and a strong longing to continue following this wonderful group into the next book. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates Steele's writing style and stories about family, responsibility, and personal growth.

Books that center on mental illness generally and ultimate self harm in particular are not easy to read. That certainly holds true for this book. But it’s definitely worth getting past the difficult parts if you’re able (if self harm, ultimate self harm, mental illness, etc are triggers for you, skip this one because your mental health matters more than fiction). Rather than break the book down into categories, I’m going to talk about my thoughts and feelings about it.
The author is very brave for tackling these subjects. And I think does well writing about them. I thought that the portrayal of Bipolar Disorder was well done, but the real focus was on the act of ultimate self harm and how surviving a loved one’s self-unaliving can cause serious repercussions including but not limited to guilt and a surge of mental illness of one’s own. Because the FMC, Clark, begins self harming after the Unaliving of two of her most loved people.
This is heavy stuff.
I think the author handled it in a realistic and respectful manner.
The only thing that I found to be of lesser quality in this book was the portrayal of the two MMCs, Vin and [a name starting with a G that can also be a trigger]. Vin and G are initially portrayed as polar opposites, which makes them seem more like cardboard cutouts than fleshed-out characters. It was mannerisms over substance. It did get some better as the love triangle went on, but I never felt that the men were as developed characters as Clark. I think if they had been, this would have been a 5+ star book.

In Steele’s second installment of the Iconic Sons MC series, a young woman battling inner demons finds herself at a crossroads when an unexpected job opportunity introduces her to two men who just might change everything. Clark has known grief from a young age. After losing loved ones to suicide and developing a self-harming habit as a means of coping, she has spent much of her life trying to stay invisible. But her quiet retreat from the world is disrupted when she wanders into Blood Tattoos, a gritty shop run by Vin and Gun, members of the Iconic Sons Motorcycle Club. What begins as a job slowly grows into something deeper, and Clark must decide whether to face her fears or remain trapped in her familiar cycle.

Steele infuses the story with both heat and heart. Vin and Gun aren’t just alpha figures; they’re layered, emotionally intuitive men who connect with Clark in ways that are both tender and intense. Their lovemaking is steamy, but it’s Clark’s emotional journey that gives the novel its weight. Themes of trauma, agency, and unconventional love unfold with care, and Steele's portrayal of a polyamorous bond avoids sensationalism in favor of emotional authenticity. This is a romance that doesn’t play it safe. Rather, it takes readers to the edge of pain and passion with striking boldness. A daring, provocative read with heat, heart, and honesty.

Courageous is the second book in the Iconic Sons MC. Clark's story will hit you in the feels and keep you engaged in the story. She is a woman who has experienced so much tragedy but still has the capacity to love deeply and to care for those that she cares for, even at her own detriment. The fact that mental illness is a central theme and it is handled in a realistic manner with phenomenal care and compassion as loved ones do not always get it right, no matter how much they want to help.

Vin and Gun are more than MC brothers and from their first meeting, you know that sparks are going to fly. The book is a total page-turner with a lot of intense drama, steamy romance, suspense, chaos mayhem, twists, betrayals, family loyalty, and so much more. It does not hurt that the characters become your BFFs. You want to see good things happen for them and with the MC.

I enjoyed reading this MC story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed their writing style as well as their attention to details that made the story feel read. I enjoyed how I was pulled into the story from the start. i found this book to be well written and had an emotional side to it as well. Clark is a strong character that has had alot happen to her. She meets Vin and Gun and she thinks maybe things will change for her. When they come face to face with her secret what will happen? Clark is my favorite of the story. She made the story easy and entertaining to read. I wanted to know more and what would happen to her. I also enjoyed watching the growth of the plot throughout which just added to the story. I found this book to be fast paced, engaged and hard to put down. I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book

Clark has had more than her share of tragedy leaving her with mental health issues. Her coping mechanisms are put to the test when Gun and Vin- Iconic Sons MC brothers- focus their energy on her. I love the honesty of their emotions, the passion that flames, and how protective they are with each other. Clark’s instincts and fear of loss puts her in danger and creates tension with Gun and Vin.

Kahlani captures all the feelings of a burgeoning relationship and it’s a deeply satisfying experience. I love her characters: the push and pull, MC brotherhood clashes and camaraderie, and the heartfelt moments between the women. Gun and Vin are patient with Clark as she finds herself and their communication improves as she learns better coping strategies. Mental health is an important issue and Kahlani treats it with sensitivity and courage!!.

Book 2 in the Iconic Sons MC series is Courageous and it's absolutely fantastic! It's very emotional and raw and will completely pull you in almost immediately. It's a great story about compassion, overcoming and healing but it's so much more. These characters are so great and though thier journey touches on topics that may be sensitive to some readers this author handles them beautifully. Vin and Gun are completely perfect for Clark and the way they cared for her is heartwarming. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it. Please keep in mind to check the trigger warnings. This author covers a lot of very sensitive subjects so be certain to make yourself aware.

Honestly, I am not a fan of MMW books. This book amazed me. It is an MMW book but there is so more to it.

The main characters: Clark, Gun and Vin are such interesting characters. It took me a while to remember thet the female lead was Clark. Never heard of this for a female and would LOVE to have known why this name was chosen for her. Once the name was drummed into my head, no problem, but still wondered.

Now I have to wait for the next book :( I have found the characters in Book 1 and Book 2 to be amazing. silently hoping the next book comes out early.

A very emotionally driven story! Though the book deals with mental health issues, it is addressed in a professional manner, which is an important distinction. While I personally didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one, it was still good and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to read it. The characters are as amazing as those in Resilience, even echoing some in similarities. There just wasn't enough of a difference to warrant all five stars from me.

Very good story line it’s great to see that even a 1% club can still be portrayed as being decent to those they come in contact with. The women are loved and protected fiercely. Clark was so caught up in her pain of loosing both Damien and Archer then being abandoned by both parents and still she is a good and loving daughter then lover. They all seem to be forming up into threesomes I’m curious to see what Achilles does.

Clark is a very courageous young woman who has seen and been part of a lot of heartbreaking events. From early childhood to things that happened recently her life has not been the easiest. Two men of the MC both want to love and take care of her, but she is just not ready for them. There are a lot of misunderstandings but in the end, their love is the only thing that matters.

This is the second book of The Iconic Sons Mc, and this book is about Gun, Vin & their fascination with Clark once they meet her and they decide to give her a job as their assistant at their shop. Clark has been through so much she has lost quite a few people very close to her in tragic ways and Clark is in dark place and space, but the guys meet her, and they are instantly drawn to her, and they want Clark for them because they are so close and love to share.

Another great steamy smokin' hot! I loved how some of the info from the first book of the series was woven in as a refresher yet if you haven't read the first book yet it doesn't distract from the story and could stand alone. PS. I want my very own Dom, Jax, Vin and Gun!!! I can't wait for book 3!

Clark’s story is emotional and raw—she’s been through a lot, and watching her slowly heal while finding unexpected love was powerful. The mix of trauma, strength, and second chances felt really real.

It’s definitely not a light read (lots of heavy themes), but it’s heartfelt and full of hope. If you like emotional romance with grit and depth, this one’s worth picking up.

Loved this book!! Exciting story full of so many emotional twists. Likeable characters. Sadness, despair, many suspenseful scenes. This book took my emotions in a roller coaster ride. Loved the connection the main characters shared. Their chemistry was intense. Definitely recommend!!
