Eager to start over and finally put her painful past behind her, Quinn Weldon moves to Texas to teach and be near her elderly grandparents. And it’s a good thing she did, because they need help--whether they wish to admit it or not. NFL pro Andre Biel turns up in her classroom to discuss his nephew’s grade, and she’s instantly drawn to him. Problem is, she swore off athletes a long time ago.
After a disastrous engagement, Andre Biel’s priorities are his family and getting into the NFL history books before it’s time to hang up his cleats. Intrigued by Quinn, Dre struggles to keep his feelings for her neutral after they’re repeatedly thrown together to help his nephew and her grandparents.
When tragedy strikes Quinn and her family, Dre comes to their rescue. But when he faces the fight of his life, will Quinn run to his side or allow the pain of her past to stop her from taking a chance on the man of her dreams?
I’m not your “normal” writer. I didn’t aspire from a young age to become a writer. My last day of high school, my English teacher said, “There is a book in each of you. Whether it’s a how-to, non-fiction, fiction—find that book.” I thought, right.
My hubby reads a lot, so I began to pick up the books he’d buy—mysteries and thrillers. But he traveled, so I only read while he was in town…too scared to sleep by myself. LOL. Years later, hubby and I planned a trip to an amusement park with the kids, and since I can’t ride roller coasters anymore, I went to B&N and picked up a book. A romance. I read all day and stayed up most of the night to finish the book. After that, I read every romance I could find.
I’d always kept my teacher’s words in the back of my mind, “There is a book in you,” and sat down one day to write a scene that kept playing in my mind. The floodgates on my imagination opened and before I knew what a critique partner was, I’d written four books (I use the word “written” very loosely, they needed a tremendous amount of work).
I never planned it, never dreamed about it, never expected to get such joy from it, but writing has become a vital part of my life.
Being the youngest of five children (my hubby the youngest of seven), much of my writing centers around family and relationships. I thank my parents for their example of how to live a life of love and happiness. And I thank my siblings, in-laws, nephews, nieces, and friends for their constant support and encouragement.
I live near Houston, Texas, with my real-life hero husband (the man is my inspiration each and every day) and our two children—who fill my heart to overflowing. I am blessed beyond belief and tickled to be able to write the stories of my heart.
Chasing Time by Tess St. John: A Heartfelt Journey of Love and Redemption
I adore Tess St. John's latest book, "Chasing Time," and I have to say, it's a heartfelt story that really pulls you in. The main character, Quinn Weldon, is looking for a fresh start in Texas. She’s got a painful past she wants to leave behind and plans to focus on her teaching job and helping her elderly grandparents. But then Andre Biel, (Dre) an NFL star, walks into her classroom, and things get interesting.
Quinn's pretty determined to steer clear of athletes because of a bad engagement she went through. But Dre isn’t just any athlete; he’s dedicated to his family and making NFL history. Despite her best efforts, Quinn finds herself drawn to him. They keep getting thrown together to help his nephew and her grandparents, and their connection grows.
Dre is a great character—he’s got this mix of fame and genuine care for his family that makes him really relatable. The chemistry between him and Quinn is undeniable, and their interactions are a mix of sweet tension and real tenderness.
Things take a serious turn when tragedy hits Quinn’s family, and Dre steps up to support her. The story gets pretty emotional as both Quinn and Dre face their pasts and deal with the challenges in their lives. St. John does a fantastic job of weaving themes of resilience and hope throughout the book, making it more than just a romance.
The climax is both heart-wrenching and uplifting. Dre faces a crucial moment in his career and personal life, and Quinn has to decide whether to support him or let her past fears hold her back. This part of the story kept me hooked right to the end.
"Chasing Time" is beautifully written and captures the essence of starting over and the power of love to transform lives. Tess St. John has delivered a touching, engaging story that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading. If you’re looking for a romantic read with depth and authenticity, I highly recommend this book.
Apart from being a well-written novel about family, love, and dealing with the curved balls that life throws at one, I also enjoyed the quotes at the end of each chapter, as many of them resonated with my heart. I loved the main characters and their attraction for one another as well as the supporting cast, each with their own issues. I found myself becoming invested in the two families and was so pleased that although there were devastating losses, they were brave enough to pick up the pieces and start over again. This novel enriched my life and made me look at my own circumstances in a new light. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Loved Chasing Sunsets so much I bought Chasing Time as soon as it came out. It did not disappoint. It has all the feels with wonderful characters and a storyline that left me not wanting to put the book down. Looking forward to the next in the series.
