Using dozens of charts and tables (including a Runic Calendar and Clock), and presenting each letter of the runic alphabet in detail with its origins and magical uses, a top expert now helps seekers tap into their energy. From making your own runes (and a bag to protect them) to reading the ancient alphabet, from casting the runes to interpreting the spread, all the basics are laid out in an easy-to-follow, clear, and superbly illustrated fashion, perfect for beginners.

Beware of historical or metaphysical books without bibliographies or suggested future reading. Not only is there no indication of where Ms. Farnell has gotten her information, there isn't even anything about what practice or path she follows. The back cover only says, "A foremost authority." Also there is poor information like; "and some say that the name "Halloween" derives from a form of the word "Hagal" or Hagalaz."" Halloween originally being Old Hallow's Eve and Hagalaz meaning hail this is a stretch unless more entomology was given to bridge the two.

I would not recommend this book to anyone trying to learn more about runes and their uses.

I like this book, but I have no runes right now to use them. I like that they talk about the dieties that go with each number and corresponding rune.

Well written, informative nonfiction on Runes, what they are, their purpose and creating your own. I borrowed this book from the local library for research purposes.
