This novel tells the story of a guy who reveals his psychic ability in a shocking display, causing his friends to freak out. They each go on their own journey of "enlightenment," and it turns out people and events are uncannily interconnected, there are signposts along the way if you know what to look for, and some journeys are prettier than others.
A fun and frivolous serendipitous romp through the rabbit hole of life. No heavy life lessons here, just a clever twining of relationships in a modern world. The characters are cheeky, the mood is light, the spirit animal remains unscathed. This book is a fun way to spend relaxing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. No who-done-it to solve, no heavy plot lines to consider, no real substance at all. Just entertainment.
Here is an excerpt from my review: "The story is humorous and very fast-paced. I finished the book in one day! Apparently, it was originally written as a screenplay 10 years ago, and I can totally see it as a short film as written. It would probably also make a silly comedy movie if the story was fleshed out more."
At 109 pages, Crystal Balls is a quick read. Overall, I would not say that I enjoyed this book; however, there were positives that kept me reading until the very end. First, the main author of the novella, Bill Rogers, is a journalist. This was easy to tell when I first began reading. The story is well written and I enjoyed the way he weaved his words into the storyline.
