And More by Andy Rooney

Rate this book
This collection of essays is almost 30 years old, but the late AndyRooney is still right on about the state of the world both as it is and as it was. Rooney always had the courage to say something about whatever was on his mind and this book of essays is just that--his thoughts and humor. I love it...He will be missed...his writings and his wisdom.

Hear the 60 minute clock ticking? Right to the heart of every simple topic. Brilliant heartfelt short writings.

I agree with Andy Rooney.
This collection of essays is almost 30 years old, but Andy is still right on about the state of the world both as it is and as it was. With the exception of Hot Weather (he hates it, I thrive in it), Andy and I are kindred spirits. I guess that makes me a 'curmudgeon,' as I have often heard Rooney referred to. If the wisdom, intelligence, and the courage to say something about it that this book imparts make a curmudgeon, then we should all aspire to the moniker.

This is my last book of 2009 and it is a good one. This is a compilation of Rooney's newspaper columns covering 3+ years. If you have seen him on 60 Minutes, you will not be surprised at the wide range of subjects he covers - most of them lightheartedly.

This is another book that I would recommend that everyone read - whether or not you agree with Rooney, he makes a person think about one's own prejudices and deeply ingrained thinking. Let him challenge you.

This book gets five stars as it was about common everyday things that we think about and say "why didn't I think of that?" But a lot of s never thought about those everyday things quite the same way as Andy did. The book I just finished by him was published in 1982

The newer book of his published in 2007 that I reviewed recently called Out of my Mind was too much politics and not enough everyday things, though it was still a good book.

In the book, I just finished today there was mention of President Reagan (the sitting president in 1982 ) but not too much which made me appreciate it much more as I am not a fan of politics.

If asked I would gladly recommend this book to whoever likes a good book that has one thinking differently about common everyday things

I always enjoyed listening to Andy Rooney's TV commentaries on 60 Minutes, and this book is full of his wisdom and humor -- I highly recommend it. It's an easy read & can be picked up at any time for a few minutes. Really miss him on 60 Minutes.

An enjoyable compilation of Andy Rooney’s writings from about the early 1980s. Familiar topics and treatment for anyone who remembers his short takes on “60 Minutes.” The mundane is of course still interesting the way he looks at it. And some is still very timely. But it’s also interesting to note how many things don’t exist or have changed in the intervening 45 years.

I read this book years ago and really enjoyed it enough to keep on my shelf. I enjoyed reading it again. Although references to the price of stamps or gas dates this book, human nature has not changed much.

Read it in the past, reread most of it. At the time he was the original. People have jumped on the musing bandwagon and some have done it better. Interesting to see most of the issues are still issues and history repeats

So what's not to like about the bushy eyed curmudgeon, Andy Rooney. This book was written in 1979, so much of his ideas or subjects are just nostalgic now. But each little story and each observation carried his voice and the tick, tick, ticking of the last of 60 Minutes.

This is the Andy Rooney we all know and love. Some of his later books came across as a little bit sexist and ignorant, but this one was charming and funny and thoroughly enjoyable. I'm going to print out Rules of Life (pg. 181) and keep it where I can see it often.

Did you ever notice how, in the old days some stuff was better? And some other stuff wasn't? In the olden days I had to read Andy Rooney for a laugh, uphill, 5 miles, in the snow.

Not as good as his first book, but who could resist? Still great for its time.
