A ruthless tycoon, Valda Payne’s rapid accumulation of wealth affords her a life without consequences or compassion. Her power and past have given her a tainted view of the world and, although she is aware of what her money can buy, a deal struck in darkness exposes what it cannot. Unexpectedly drawn into a realm where things are not as they seem, a negotiation for happiness slowly becomes a quest for sanity and survival.
I am an author, father, husband and brother to all who carry the fire. I hail from London in the UK and have so far written three full-length novels called 'Lilif' 'THE SWEAT', 'SHADOWS UNDER A DIPPING SUN' and three other books consisting of one short story and two compendiums, all available from Amazon. My love for writing stems from seeing my mother read countless books in childhood. I can recall her screaming with both laughter and fright over the written works of Stephen King, Dean R Koontz, James Herbert and many more. Her books oddly led me to film as opposed to reading and developed in me a persistent imagination and love for creating characters and stories. By age twelve, I had watched the films Rosemary's Baby, Misery, Salem's Lot, and Pet Sematary only to be told - 'If you think the films are good, the books are ten times better'. I discovered how true those words were as I matured, and I've never looked back. I want to make people laugh, cry, care and cherish my writing. There is a book in us; we all have a story to tell.
For the Love of Greed and a Baby... This story has three protagonists, but they have no idea they are against a horde of opposers. One is next to dirt-poor but carries great values; one came from a simple life only to be submerged into money and power. The last was born of The Day of Treats, to become a power-hungry mogul, bent on one, true goal. Valda, Alex, and Patrick are on an unknown mission and everyone will not survive. The good guys never do, right?
Valda, is difficult to view as a heroine. She thyrst's (yes, I did use that spelling!) for money, power and a baby. All her clout couldn't give her the one thing she wanted more than anything else in the world. She and Alex, her boyfriend, sought out the best of fertility specialists, but it just didn't happen. Then she received a letter from someone by the name of Lilif. Lilif offered Valda the world: a baby, at a cost....
Patrick was a Jamaican who only wanted to make enough money to send home to his family and live a quiet life. A good man with a big heart, turned driver for Valda and Alex, who later became an associate to Valda and Alex- almost a friend. Because he was on the outisde, he was able to see things, the couple were blind to. But there are some things even the closest of friends can't prevent, especially from them...

If you know who Lilif is, you will probably have this book somewhat figured out too early. But if you are blissfully ignorant, you'll enjoy this book. The creep factor is supernatural.
What if money/sucess could really buy everything? And what would you do to get your dream realized? Do you know?
I love the way Mr. Falconer expands on each of the main characters. He doesn't give it to you all in the beginning. He chooses a pertinent time in the book to explain their back story. I also liked how a few times, things were happening at the same time and he cuts back and forth between with short sequences for each character.
I'm not really sure why I felt the need to take a star away. I think it's parts of the following. The beginning was different. It didn't grab me right away, though it didn't take long to pull me in. I also think that part of a storyline was missing. Something that involves Lilif and her boyfriend Alex from before the book starts. To allow us to see their relationship. I think it would have helped with the story. And I also think I was expecting at least another page or 2 or 5 more at the end.
This book was extremely different from anything I have ever read. The concept of the book intrigued me greatly, and seeing the characters slowly lose their sanity and grip on reality kept me hooked. The writing style flows nicely and the metaphors that Falconer uses makes the story come alive. The focus on the back stories of the people in the novel allows the readers to connect with the characters.
I found myself becoming very attached to the characters, especially Patrick. His interactions with Sheila made him such a lovable character, which made his death even more tragic. The reader feels great sympathy for Alex and Valda, even though they were flawed characters. Although the plot was very interesting and rounded out, I felt that the strength of the characters' arcs is what really made the story great.
I was so grateful to have been sent a copy by the author, and I suggest that everyone read this!
Lilif is a thoroughly enjoyable story which will keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended to those who enjoy reading supernatural horror. Valda Payne, successful business woman, makes a deal with a mysterious woman called Lilif, in her desperation to have a child. It all seems too good to be true until she realises how much she must sacrifice. The old adage comes to mind: be careful what you wish for...
