When Georgia "Peaches" Kent wakes up in a morgue, it's no wonder her first thought is that she's a vampire, but after a late night run in with a black cat named Bane, she's less and less sure she's a vampire and more on the side of Bane in thinking that she's a mystery.
Peaches is dead, she's sure of that. What she's not sure of is what she is. But that's alright because a cat has offered to help her discover what she is. Except Bane isn't a cat at all, but a very attractive Egyptian vampire.
Now they're on a mission to discover what Peaches is, which leads them into the heart of a vamp-goth club. But then Peaches goes and opens her big mouth, tension skyrockets, and marriage to the sexy Egyptian vamp is the only way out.
Or is it?
Join Peaches and Bane on this fun, fast paced adventure as they try to discover what she is, and hope they don't get killed in the process.

Fun, sexy and a little strange. I enjoyed this book but it does have some odd leaps and gaps. She wakes up in the morgue, not dead. Almost immediately she ends up in a world of vampires. I enjoyed the characters. They are a little different from the norm in these types of books. They made me laugh. However, they are not complete. Some normal human emotions and reactions seem to be missing.
I found this book on Amazon for free, and I've found that most of the free books are better then some I've paid a lot for, this is one of those great find, and I'm so pleased I took the time to read it.
I didn't know what to expect because I didn't read the description or other reviews I like to go in blindly when reading a new book, that way I can decide if I like it for myself, with out other readers thoughts chipping away in my head.
So I'm not a vampire? is such a funny humorous quick read, Peaches remind me of the way I think and I can't help but laugh at the way her brain works, even though it's a short book depending on how fast you read, I'd say It's a 2 hour read full of laughs and fun and I didn't want to it to end.
I couldn't wait to start the 2nd book and continue the fun, I Beta read for a few authors, and also review read to, I'm always looking for mistakes or spelling errors in books, but Rosi' s style and writing is great, the story is well put together, well edited, just really well executed, which makes reading so much better.
I'd like to of heard more about how her family and boyfriend reacted to get death, but I might be jumping ahead and it might be in the next books? I'm hoping it is, but I don't be too disappointed if not.
I'm off to read the next book and I hope to review that one too.
Series: Peaches and Bane #1 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance, contemporary Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: ungraded – book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Rosi Phillips (beta reader)
This is the first story in the Peaches and Bane series. They do need to be read in order.
A fun novella with lots of sass. I was laughing from page one, because I could imagine just that reaction to waking up in a morgue. (Oh cool, I must be a vampire, right?) The relationship between Georgia “Peaches” Kent and Bane… whatever his last name is…. is instantaneous and perfectly, comfortably right. His nickname for her, Habibi, which means “beloved one” is just so sweet. I love it.
Rosi, thank you for inviting me onto your BETA team. JJ Benedetti did well when he paired us up, and just when I most needed a laugh. Your humor is sarcastic, biting, and witty, a perfect mixture that had me snickering, snorting, and laughing out loud. I look forward to reading more as you create them.
Peaches wakes up assuming that she is in fact a real vampire. She's funnily corrected by a cat cum vampire who she later marries! This story was written with a lot of humor and some ADD sassiness that I was in stitches over. This author could put a smile on your face with her sex scenes too ;) By the end you STILL don't know what she is....that just leaves you begging to find out in her next book.
This is a horrible book this writer wasted my time with her horrible writing this book hop and skipped from one ludicrous scenario to another and then she had the gall to say she is writing bk 2 no just no, Don't even bother getting this book it is not even worth it for free. MAYBE IF SHE BAD SPEnt some time getting the story straight or her sequence of events this might have had a shot at a decent novel but this all over the pkace, like she just picked piece out of different novels she read and threw them together. There was nothing to like in this book and i would not recommend it to anyone horrible book . I really hope she did nof actually waste her time cobbling together another book .Mixed up details weird timeline none of it made senses thats it .
Horrible book from the jump so not worth the time or the confusion to try an d figure it out
To be honest the sole reason I bought it was for the cover. That dude is pretty handsome. And let's be honest, you don't get a very diverse array of pnr characters so I had to give this one a shot.
The GOOD:
Peaches is a fun narrator. She wakes up in a morgue, basically has no adjustment period, and hops straight into the paranormal activity. Peaches, as a narrator, goes off on tangents but you get a glimpse at her life. I like that she a curvy heroine coming in at a reluctant 16. Yet another something you don't get in pnr. Our hero Bane is cool too. Helpful, not too mysterious but just enough to keep you interested.
The BAD:
Peaches absolutely had no adjustment period. No wondering about the afterlife, out of the entire book, I think of twice when she thought about not ever talking to her family again and even then it was like she just said "oh well" and went on about her paranormal afterlife. I would have liked to see some time spent with her grappling with the reality that she would never see her family or friends again in a more human way. Or if she doesn't care, I need it to be a part of the story, like it's a result of her weird death and rebirth, etc. I just need it to be dealt with whether through world building, plot, or dialogue.
The UGLY: T.S.T.L. moments. Like was the author actively trying to get a visceral reaction by setting Peaches up to do really stupid stuff? Two incidents back to back really had my grinding my teeth. She seemed so smart and capable and then all of a sudden she was mouthing off to vampires, doing the complete opposite of what Bane told her... the typical TSTL stuff. This also ended on a cliff so there is that annoying piece.
A little creepy strange...but I THINK I liked the characters! The protagonist is trying to discover what sort of creature she really is after she wakes up in a morgue. Some of her attempts at "trying to be vampire" are quite funny. This is a series in which she attempts to discover her true nature, and I am pretty sure I will read the rest of the series--not overly compelled, but when I need a quick and creepy read with a little romance (of sorts....) thrown in--I'll read 'em!
This is not literary fiction of any sort, so just don't expect that :)
Oh my did I enjoy this. l kept waking my husband up because I couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud while lying in bed reading this. This is a quick read and took me about an hour to read.
Peaches wakes up naked in the morgue on a cold slab in the cooler. The only explanation she can think of is that she is a vampire. Peaches seems to not have a sensor between her brain and mouth. She meets Bane who is a vampire who breaks the news to Peach that she is in fact not a vampire but she is something, he just doesn't know what.
phenomenal.. The series is four books that should have just bin a one novel.. but what a grate short story/ mini series I love it from beginning to the end and all the way i saw "Rebel Wilson" as the main character(don't know why but i did, the character had her flavor), if there was ever done a movie from this book.. it be come a cult thing like Scott Pilgrim, Buffy or izombie ;) its a phenomenal series, and i red all the books in 3 evenings. I could easily see this writer up there with Molly Harper and Dakota Cassidy.. its that good :)
Peaches wakes up in the morgue and doesn't know what's happened to her. After she gets out, she ends up with the vampire Bane. There starts the hilarious inner monologue she doesn't seem to be able to control and what might drive Bane crazy in their new wild relationship. It does end on a cliffhanger, but readers will love this read and can see if they want to continue the adventure.
Very short and sweet. Peaches and Bane, New discovery, New life and plenty of trouble coming her way. She is just those forces that attract trouble in a comical kind of way and her thoughts always lands her in trouble.
Hysterical. And way better scene than what's in 50 shades of terrible writing. This is clever, sexy, hot (no, really) and funny as all hell. I've already read all three. Where's number 4?!?!?!
