Code, chaos, and a chemistry so strong it crashes the system!
Jasper Cole, the steely-eyed manager of the tech department, rules his domain with ironclad precision—crisp suits, meticulous schedules, and a heart locked tight after too many betrayals. Control is his shield, and he’s not about to let anyone breach it. Then comes Nico Reyes, the new intern with a chaotic streak and a grin that could melt code. Desperate to prove he’s more than a screw-up, Nico sees this gig as his shot to showcase his programming genius—but Jasper’s icy rules threaten to bench him before he can shine.
Cue the fireworks. Jasper’s curt orders slam into Nico’s sassy defiance, turning every meeting into a battlefield of snark and smoldering tension. Nico’s late-night hacks and desk-disaster vibes unravel Jasper’s perfect world, while Jasper’s stern glares challenge Nico to step up or ship out. But when a crunch-time project traps them in the office after hours, sparks ignite—lingering looks, charged arguments, and a kiss that crashes through Jasper’s defenses like a rogue algorithm.
Opposites don’t just attract—they combust. Jasper’s craving for order tangles with Nico’s love for the unpredictable, leading to steamy nights, laugh-out-loud banter, and a romance that defies every spreadsheet Jasper’s ever made. Between debugging code and discovering each other, they stumble into a romance as messy as it is magnetic.
In this standalone kickoff to an opposites-attract MM series, Jasper and Nico prove love thrives where you least expect it—messy, wild, and oh-so-addictive.
It's really hard for me to get into a book if I don't like the MCs. So this book was a struggle, I pushed through cause it was short. Nico was a complete A-hole, I hated him from the jump. The whole boss dating an employee and HR having no issues also blew my mind.

3.5 ⭐️ Im quite conflicted on this one. I don’t usually write longer reviews but I have a few things I need to say. I DID overall like the story and I WOULD read another book from this author with hopes some things could be fixed.
1. It’s a novella and knowing that, I didn’t expect too much depth. It’s very surface and a quick read. Decent steam and I did feel some connection with characters, not a ton and it took a good bit to get there. 1.5 side note… ages need to be given earlier in a book, I honestly felt like Nico was 22 with his ‘Yo this’, laid back messy attitude and a couple paragraphs where I thought he lived with his mom still.. btw what was that about? I was so confused but don’t wanna get into that debacle. 😣 Back to ages… yeah took to 30ish % to see he was 30. Ok… sure. 👍🏼 2. This screamed for a deep proofread from the get go. The grammatical errors, missing words, storylines not lining up (aka.. a sweater being removed as they walked to the bedroom, then leaning on the bed, his hands went under his sweater 😒) stuff like that with a few instances. Knew it was a newer author so I continued but it was frustrating a tad and stopped the flow. 3. The first 45% is slooowww. With WAY too much repeat of the same words, situations, and mind sets. Def need to come up with new phrases and ways to relay a feeling. A lot could have been cut out and being a novella thats kinda crazy. I was tired of hearing the ex’s name over and over and in the end we learned nothing about him and Jasper anyways. 4. Beginning was rushed. Now how can that be when I said it was slow.. cause Jasper acted like he’d known Nico for forever and was so deep in just one day. That one day that took a bazillion pages of thoughts. Nico was a bit also but how TF was Nico being compared to Jaspers ex so often 😩 when he’d just met him hours ago. 5. Second half way better and made up for the first half and I’m glad I refused to give up. Wasn’t a bad story overall. But I’m not a huge fan of people finally ‘seeing the light and their love’ due to an accident and trauma. Kinda felt like it cheapened it but author did ok with trying to explain it out. 6. Epilogue saved the day or book, at least for me. I was smiling in the end and overall happy for Jasper and Nico. Their lives managed to merge and author showed that nicely.
I have mixed feelings about this book, Nico was a bit of a jerk most of the time, I mean I understand some cockiness but there wasn't enough development for the cockiness to be justified. it just came off as arrogance. their whole dynamic just didn't seem to flow naturally. the story seemed... choppy.
also in what world would HR be completely okay with a boss/employee relationship?
With that bein said, I think this book had the potential to be an amazing story, it just needed a little polishing to me. I still enjoyed it. :) ( Mainly for Cole, Nico is a Jerk)

These two are adorable. Jasper is so controlled and Nico's chaos shakes it up. They're good for each other. I never knew pining could be so hot. It did go on for too long though. It started to feel a little repetitive. They're both so smart and that's sexy af. I love the chemistry that the author is able to capture between these two characters. And I love that Jasper gets to have a sort of found family in Nico's family. His life sounded lonely as hell before them.
Here's Phoenix Black promoting her mm romance in the Book Lovers for Trump fb group. You don't get to profit off of and fetishize queer people while voting to strip away their human rights.
(It turns out they use AI book covers. Intersectional trash.)
1.5 Stars. Pretty sure this was poorly written AI that was requested in pieces. Full of the most strange egregious errors and characters change personalities and back stories. Repetitive in even the best spots. Would have DNF'd this if it hadn't been a podcast book.
I’m coming back to update my review. The more and more time has gone on, I’m almost certain AI was used to write the book. AI is used for the cover, along with multiple others and the plots to the books are all surface level.
