This is my first book by Elle E. Kay and I am a definite new fan, hooked by her sharp writing, constant action and satisfying romance that was enchanting and believable. Sadie is an ER nurse caught in the crossfire with a bio-weapon at stake. Her former neighbor is the Homeland Security agent in charge of safeguarding the nation from the bio-weapon and protecting the man who is developing the antidote. Craig and Sadie together make a formidable team to take on the saboteurs, but the head-spinning twists keep coming at them fast and furiously. From one place to another, Sadie and Craig seem to be chasing down leads while danger is chasing them and is right behind them at all times, sometimes catching up with them at unexpected times. This is a gripping story that is addictive and fun to read and try to piece the clues together. Infused with spiritual truth and romance simmering under the surface, this book grabbed hold of my imagination and would not let go. I was captivated by the courage of the characters who were the good guys and thought that all of the characters were realistic, original and dynamic. The plot flowed well from beginning to end in this edgy, page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat and fascinated with the twists. It is a well-crafted book that hit all of the high notes for me in suspense, drama and romance.

Midnight Offensive is the first book I have read written by Elle E. Kay and I look forward to reading some more books. This story was such a whirlwind, it took me a moment to unpack. If you like a good Christian suspense novel, this will hit the spot.

The character development was ok. I personally had a hard time connecting with them for the first half of the book. I think it was due to the fast pacing of the story. Once I got passed that, I enjoyed getting to know Sadie and Craig.

The storyline was fun. Right from the start a lot is going on in this story. Craig and Sadie are set up on a blind date, luckily, they are very close, so they have fun catching up on the date. The next day Sadie notices a suspicious guy hanging outside her building. From there everything spirals out of control. We have kidnapping, biological warfare, gunshots, evading kidnapping, and a double agent. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

The romance as brother’s best friend to more with some light second chance was a fun dynamic. The romance was low-spice, kiss only.

Elle E. Kay does a great job intertwining faith throughout the book.

Midnight Offensive by Elle E Kay was a wonderful romantic suspense story! The suspense was intense and kept me guessing who the villain was, right up until the surprising twist at the end! Elle lets us see events through the villains eyes, which adds another layer to the story. The MMC and MFC are both strong Christians and I love how faith is thread throughout the story! Don’t miss reading Elle’s personal testimony included at the end of the book! Great read that I definitely recommend!! I read an advanced ecopy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.

Loved, loved this book! Sadie and Craig were so good with each other. I loved that Craig made it clear that since he and Sadie were now adults, it no longer mattered that she was his best friend’s little sister. This book took a lot of twists and turns, and it kept me wanting to continue to read, no matter how late the hour. It was very well written and came to a great conclusion! I received a complimentary ARC from the author. All opinions are my own.

Midnight Offensive involves the hunt to stop terrorists with a deadly plan involving a stolen biological weapon. I enjoyed the falling for your brother's friend trope and the feelings that Craig and Sadie had for each other. This story is fast-paced with unexpected surprises in it.

Imagine being set up on a date by your roommate and her boyfriend, only to have your date be your childhood next door neighbor and crush. This date that you didn’t want to go on, but you went anyway, ended up being one of the best decisions you made, while opening you up to bliss and danger all at the same time. That’s what happened in Elle E. Kay’s Midnight Offensive, the first book in Ms. Kay’s Toxic Truth Series. Nurse Sadie couldn’t believe it when she was setup on a blind date with her, Brother’s Best Friend, former next door neighbor, and lifetime crush, Craig. Craig, is equally as surprised to be set up on a blind date with his Best Friend’s Little Sister, but extremely happy because, he too, has always had a soft spot in his heart for Sadie. When Sadie and her roommate, Madison, discover that the men in their lives work for the US Government, currently protecting it’s citizens from Bio Terrorism, Sadie’s life and those she cares about are in danger. As a Christian, Sadie Trusts God, but it’s easier said than done when the rubber meets the road, and you see those you love dearly in danger and you can’t do a single thing about it—especially when Sadie tries to take matters into her own hands instead and just about makes them worse. As Craig tries to untangle the issues that arise because of Sadie’s actions, Craig is also having a difficult time working the case the way he’s been trained to—trying not to focus on Sadie and Trusting God with it all. Midnight Offensive is more than just a suspenseful read, but also a powerful read about Trusting God regardless of the outcome.

I loved Midnight Offensive by Elle E. Kay! I loved the Bio Terrorism aspect of the plot. Having the Bio Terrorism aspect in Midnight Offensive reminded me of Diann Mills’ Airborne in some ways, and I loved that! I love the places that Ms. Kay took Midnight Offensive and it’s Characters in the plot. I loved meeting Sadie and Craig! I love how they had both been good friends before their relationship turned into something more. I’m glad their relationship sped up due to this fact. I love how Ms. Kay explored Trusting God with the Characters, showing the Reader the reality Christians have at times to Trust God with the Unknown. I love how Ms.Kay allowed Sadie to take matters into her own hands. When Sadie did that, it reminded me of a powerful lesson in the Bible of when Sarah took matters into her own hands as well, choosing in the process not to Trust God (check out Genesis 16 in your Bible). The suspense in Midnight Offensive was on point! I loved the different Government Agencies that were represented in the book and the spiffy gadgets and technology they brought to the case—and I wish I had some of those items! As much as I love reading Midnight Offensive, I love the lesson it taught me about Trusting God just as equally or more. If you are looking for an edge-of-your-seat read with an equally Powerful Message, then I highly recommend Midnight Offensive by Elle E. Kay! With Midnight Offensive being the first book in Elle E. Kay’s Toxic Truth Series, I am excited to see where Ms. Kay takes the series next!

Have you read Midnight Offensive? What did you think of the book?

I would like to thank Elle E. Kay for giving me a copy of Midnight Offensive to review and for giving me the information I needed for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Midnight Offensive by Elle E. Kay plunges readers straight into a high-stakes scenario where the countdown to a biological disaster looms over New Year’s Eve. Originally released as part of the Silent Night anthology in the Winter Shivers collection, this story wastes no time establishing the danger. It is a twisty thriller full of adventure and suspense, revolving around a stolen biological weapon and the race to protect the creator of the antidote, pitting Homeland Security against a terror network with millions of lives in the balance.

The romance is built on a foundation of history and coincidence, kicking off when ER nurse Sadie Kline is coerced into a blind date by her roommate, Madison. The date, intended to be with Madison's boyfriend's friend, turns out to be Craig - Sadie's childhood next-door neighbor and her brother’s best friend. Craig, now a former military man working for Homeland Security, is currently tasked with guarding the very person making the antidote to the virus. While the reunion is awkward, the dynamics between the two quickly shifts as their past connection is tested by the immediate threat of the bioterrorists.

The guys orchestrating the threats were ruthless and realistic, effectively raising the stakes of the narrative. While I figured out who was pulling the strings pretty quickly, the predictability of the villain didn't detract from the excitement; the story remained a heart-pounding adrenaline rush regardless. However, while the external conflict is gripping, the characterization of Sadie was a point of contention for me. Despite her profession as a nurse, which usually implies a level of disciplined crisis management, her behavior often leans into reckless territory.

I prefer heroines to exercise caution, so I found Sadie’s tendency to take risky situations into her own hands frustrating. She is the type of character that can get under your skin; rather than letting the professionals handle the terror network, her impulsive decisions often escalate the danger unnecessarily. Despite this friction, Midnight Offensive was impossible to put down. I found myself staying up through the night just to see how it ended. It delivers a tense, fast-paced read for fans of the genre who enjoy the "brother’s best friend" trope mixed with a race-against-the-clock thriller.

Midnight Offensive is the first novel I’ve read by Elle E. Kay, and it most certainly won’t be my last. When this novel kicks off, there is a lot to unpack, and there is an air of uneasiness that permeates as the stage is set, and this level of tension does not let up until the end.

While “some things are worth the risk,” I didn’t always agree with Sadie’s rash decisions, which was a bit grating. There was also something about Craig and Sadie’s whirlwind romance that didn’t resonate with me, which made the romantic aspect not my favorite, but the suspense and the thrill of the chase more than made up for it and kept me engaged.

The faith aspect that is shared throughout the investigation is nice. It doesn’t feel like it’s a forced issue but feels natural, like these people live what they believe, which is always refreshing to see. There was a twist that I was seriously not expecting midway through, and I loved it! It definitely made this story all the more interesting and had me dialed in from that point until the very end. I was a tad disappointed that the conclusion felt a bit rushed but was excited to see a lead-up to the next novel in the series included, which I now can’t wait to read.

As far as clean Christian suspenses go, this one is definitely a winner as it is the perfect balance of romance and suspense with a wonderful flow, characters that are easy to rally behind, and a premise that is truly terrifying.

Bacterial warfare. Faith. A long-ago friendship maybe starting to blossom into something else. And...terrorism. What a read!

Elle E. Kay's heart-pounding Midnight Offensive: Toxic Truths captivates the reader immediately with suspense and mystery that isn't readily apparent. No, there are twists and turns everywhere as suddenly, Sadie Kline is set up on a blind date with the boy she loved wholeheartedly in her teens. But Craig Malone isn't a boy anymore. He's a former Navy SEAL who's row a Homeland Security agent who's assigned to protect a scientist who's developed the only cure for a bacterial warfare weapon.

And now, he's on a blind date with his best friend's little sister? (The same best friend who'd promised severe consequences if he went out with Sadie?)

For both of them, there is some attraction going on. But the wounds of the past aren't always easy to heal. And there's more than a potential budding romance going on. The terrorists who are after the bacteriological weapon have made threats against the scientist, his family, and Sadie's family. And every time Craig thinks that he has the targets safe, they seem to be in the crosshairs of the enemy...again.

Can Craig, Sadie, and the others keep the cure from falling into enemy hands? More, can they keep each other safe and secure? You honestly will not know until the ending. Get a copy of this marvelous thriller and read to find out!

Craig, a former SEAL, is now with Homeland Security and tasked with protecting the development of a vaccine against a deadly bioweapon. Sadie is an ER nurse and best friend of the girlfriend of the scientist developing the vaccine. When Craig and Sadie are set up on a blind date, they instantly recognize each other. Craig is her brother’s best friend and her high school crush. As they work together to stop the evildoers, will their past feelings for each other cause a conflict or bring them closer together? Who can they trust: who is their ally; who is the enemy?

This is a Christian romantic suspense. The suspense is extreme and keeps the reader involved. There are a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The Christian aspects are many and well done: prayer, faithfulness of God, desiring God’s will, letting God have control.

Favorite quotes: “If he kept the Lord Jesus in His proper place, the rest would work out as it was meant to.”
“Could it be like a refiner’s fire, where raw metal goes in and impurities are burned off: Maybe that’s the good. The trials burn off the rough edges and a person comes through better than they were before they went through the difficulties.”

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.

4,5 stars rounded to 5

Midnight Offensive by Elle E. Kay is a Christian Romantic Suspense story that is filled with action. The threat our main characters are facing is pretty sinister, the villains don’t hesitate to get their hands dirty and the suspense plot is the driving force of this story.

As a side plot we have a brother’s best friend romance and since Craig and Sadie reconnect after many years this could even be categorized as a second chance romance.

The faith elements of this story are strong and the main theme is probably letting God take control. Which is no easy feat considering the danger the characters find themselves in. I always enjoy and appreciate how Elle E. Kay uses prayer, scripture and Christian elements in her stories. There are always things I can take away as personal reminders from her books, which should in my opinion be the main goal of Christian fiction.

While there is nothing “wrong” with the book, I didn’t really feel invested. But this might be my “problem” and other readers might have a better connection to the characters, so I only removed half a star.

Midnight Offensive
Toxic Truths #1
By Elle E. Kay

When a deadly bioweapon is stolen, Craig Malone is tasked with providing security to the doctor working against the clock to develop an antidote. What Craig didn't anticipate was reconnecting with his best friend's little sister, Sadie Kline. Sadie is now an ER nurse and a possible target of the thief.

As time runs down, Craig and Sadie find danger closer than they could have imagined. Is there time to discover who is pulling the strings before terrorists unleash the deadly toxin on the unsuspecting populace? Their opponent will stop at nothing to win.

This was my first book by Elle E. Kay, and I found the characters engaging. I have to shake my head at Sadie, who seemed intent on making ill-advised decisions when danger was so close, and she was obviously a target. The twists added to the tension and the whodunit feel throughout. Overall, I'd say this was a good read, and I'm interested in what comes next in the series.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

New to me Author Elle E. Kay will quickly be at the top of must read new releases. Midnight Offensive is book one in the Toxic Truths series. This book captured my attention immediately and I didn’t want it to let me go.

Sadie is set up on a blind date. When the date turns out to be Craig, her childhood friend it stars off as awkward. However things take a turn when there’s a stolen biological weapon. Sadie, who is an ER nurse suddenly finds herself in the crosshairs when the suspect and her cross paths. Craig is a Homeland Security Agent who actually is in charge of keeping a person safe who is working to perfect the antidote for the virus.

This book kept me on my toes. The descriptions, the action and suspense kept me reading later than I should have been. The author put in a lot of twists and turns that I wasn’t prepared for. It was a race against time and Craig wants to keep Sadie safe at all costs.

Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

This book has it all! I literally couldn't put it down! It was edge of your seat romantic suspense. The main characters, Sadie and Craig are rushing to stop a biological weapon and there were times I was holding my breath - I had to remind myself that this was fiction! LOL
Sadie is an ER nurse and gets wrapped up in this case when a guy comes into her ER that seems sketchy. She brushes it off until she goes out with her brother's best friend, Craig, leads to something way more complicated and the action begins! Craig is a Homeland Security agent and is tracking a stolen biological weapon but soon finds out that Sadie might be the key to finding out the identity of the suspect.
Secrets, danger and lives are on the line. I had no idea how this was going to turn out but I couldn't stop reading until I found out! The author did a fantastic job of keeping the action flowing, along with great character development!

What can I say. Edge of your seat Christian suspense novel with a touch of romance. Is anyone safe? Who can keep a secret? I read it in a couple of days.

The plot has so many twists and turns it kept you guessing as to who you could trust, and what the final outcome for everyone would be.
As usual Elle’s faith and trust in an Almighty God shines through. The characters are challenged as to who they see as in control and causes them to examine their relationship with God. I always enjoy seeing how she introduces different scriptures to illustrate the need to put God in the centre of every day living no matter what the challenges are, she makes the Bible come alive thank you.

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Nurse Sadie Kline and her roommate are drawn into intrigue when a thug starts watching them. Sadie’s friend Craig Malone who is an agent for Homeland Security in charge of protecting a Scientist working on an antidote for a stolen destructive virus is also protecting them since the scientist is Sadie’s roommate’s boyfriend. It seems the bad guys are always one step ahead of them and time is running out. Intriguing book which keeps you turning pages to find out what will happen next. I also appreciated the faith shown by the characters.

Absolutely loved Book 1 in this new series! The intense suspense had me from the very start. Craig Malone, a Homeland Security agent, is badgered by a close friend to go on a blind date. Sadie Kline, an ER nurse, isn't looking for a romance but gives in to her roommate for one night. Surprise! Craig and Sadie have a history that causes sparks to fly! But that's the least of their worries when a biological terrorist sets his plot in motion, things spiral out of control. The plot has more twists and turns than you can imagine and is tightly woven. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for Book 2!

Wow! Once you start this first book in the Toxic Truths series, you will not set it aside until you reach the unexpected conclusion. The main characters are very relatable - old friends that find each other in a whole new way. There is plenty of danger, intrigue and suspense as they attempt to find the bioweapon that was stolen, all the time praying that the antidote will be ready when needed. The lesson of trusting God and following His leading proved to be difficult, especially when they were very sure they had the right plan. Don’t miss this first book that I received through Faith Writes Publishing and BookFunnel.

I had actually read this previously. Bad guy, who stole a dangerous virus, is a hospital patient seen by nurse Sadie. She helps create an image with a forensic artist. Her ability to identify him puts her at risk. Craig is guarding Matthew who is working to develop an antidote for that virus.
Initial meeting between Craig and Sadie is awkward because a previous date had not gone well. As Craig and Sadie work together, they gradually realize that something more could develop between them.
Can they get the antivirus developed? Can they keep Sadie alive? Can they get to the bad guy in time?

What a fast paced suspense story that kept my attention from the first pages. Craig Malone, a Homeland Security agent and ER nurse Sadie Kline have a history from their past where she had a crush on him but he was her brother's best friend so of limits. A blind date brings them back together again but a threat against the country with a devastating stolen virus will keep them working together to stop the attack.

Craig was a former Navy seal and he will have to use all of his skills as the threat becomes personal towards Sadie and her roommate Madison. Madison is dating a virologist developing an antidote to a stolen biological weapon. and the criminals will try to hurt her to get him. As they get closer to finding the doctor who stole the biological weapon they become suspicious that someone in the Homeland Security agency may be helping him.

Will they be able to stop the attack they suspect will happen during the New Year's Eve celebrations? Will Sadie and Craig decide to take a chance to be together?

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

This is officially my favourite book from this author! This is truly a great book. Very fast paced, action packed. The faith element was a great blend of believers and non-believers in the story. As well as the growth of both main character's as they learn to press into their relationship with God more each day.

This is a standalone book, with a conclusion. No cliffhangers. The romance honours marriage (no blushing required) but don't think that means there's no chemistry!

Sadie is an ER nurse, but she is sweet and caring and her family feels she doesn't have the stamina for it. But, she is proving them wrong. Her roommate sets her up on a blind date with a friend of her boyfriend. Sadie is not interested, but she goes anyway. It ends up being Craig, her brother's best friend. She had a crush on him in high school, but he wouldn't even look at her. As Craig starts to investigate a biological weapons threat, Sadie gets dragged into it. Lots of action and twists and turns as they race to prevent a terror attack.

This is a fast paced thriller from start to finish!
With a stolen case of a biologic weapon at large, Craig Malone is running out time to find it. Sadie is caught in the crosshairs of a deadly situation.

With time running out and friends and family being abducted. Will they be able to work together? He has always been the love of her life, but he left after high school. Will this be the time for a second chance amid all the chaos?

I highly recommend this book!

This was an intriguing, fast paced, Christian suspense book with some clean romance that kept my interest from beginning to end. I liked getting to know the main characters Sadie, Madison, Craig and Matt; as they race against the clock to stop a deadly bioweapon from falling into dangerous hands. Kidnapping, bombs, fires, shooting and more!

I enjoyed reading this book from a new to me author and especially liked the Christian faith elements throughout. I can’t wait to read more!

Really Great Christian Series

This book is the first book in the series and is a great beginning to the series. I so enjoyed Craig and Sadie’s story. These two have crushed on each other for years but have not been in the same area for awhile. Now that he's back everything changes. But first they have to prevent a chemical weapons attack. Their story is full of suspense, danger, and love. It was a joy to see God work in their lives.

This book reached out and grabbed me and held me hostage until I had read the very last page. I struggled with all my might to break the hold it had on me and get back to my daily routine, but my struggles were in vain. Every time I managed to pull away, it dragged me back to my recliner for one more page...one more chapter... one more hour. And now that I have finished it, I am left just wanting more! When does the next book come out?
