Sarah

For three years since my sister vanished on a Zexian tribute ship, I've kept all aliens at arm's length. That carefully controlled existence shatters when a chance encounter with a purple-skinned delivery driver triggers a rare biological connection that refuses to be ignored.

Vraaz knows civilian Zexians like him aren't meant to find human mates. But, neither of us can deny the electric connection forming—one that causes me physical pain when we're apart and an almost psychic awareness when together.

As our forbidden bond deepens, I discover it's changing me on a biological level, creating a connection that transcends species barriers. But when I'm assigned to cover the first Tribute ceremony since my sister's disappearance, we must confront our past scars if we want to have a future together.

This book resonated as tender, star-crossed, and deeply engaging —everything I didn’t know I needed in an interspecies slow-burn romance. Sarah and Vraaz’s connection unfolds gently, shaped by grief, healing, and a reverent kind of intimacy that centers presence over performance. Sarah’s arc—learning to release control, accept the unknown, and soften toward love—was beautifully mirrored in Vraaz’s quiet steadiness and immigrant backstory. Their relationship thrives in the in-between moments: the almost-touches, the silence, the choice to stay close without pressure.

What made this story stand out was how it treated intimacy not as urgency but as sacred ritual. The consent woven into their emotional and physical closeness was striking, and the emotional pacing made their bond feel earned rather than inevitable. For readers who crave slow-burn sci-fi romance with grief, gentleness, and growth at its core, this is a soulful and satisfying journey—with a spice level that builds beautifully once trust is fully established. I'm fully appreciated how they arrived at their HEA!.

Another Hit out of the park!! I so enjoyed this book with Sarah not liking having the aliens come to earth, and not trusting them. All it takes is a little touch when she drops her ID and Vraax picks it up and hands it to her and their fingers touch. I love how Luna has it that Fate picks the mates for each of these aliens and how it starts to work chemically with them. It brings couples together that would never look at each other in other circumstances. The way these two come together is such a joy to read, and even with all their differences they are so made for one another. Their story is so heartwarming. I recommend this story and the whole series. I cannot wait till I see what else this author has planned for us.

Great romance with drama, differences, healing and love

This is another great addition to the series and this one brings a fair bit of emotional baggage to the romance. Sarah dislikes the aliens, doesn't trust them, and blames them for the loss of her sister. Vraax knows he's not worthy of a mate but when he hands Sarah her dropped ID card, their connection comes to life. Despite the grief, cultural differences, differing beliefs and the drama, these two are perfect for each other and their journey was heartwarming. I really like how fate, and a chemical process, can give a couple that would never have really given each other a chance, end up with a wonderful and spicy HEA together. Good fun!

Sarah lost her sister Emma 3 years ago when the Tribute ship dissapeared in space. She has avoided all things Zexian since then. When a chance encounter with Vraaz has the beginnings of a civilian mating bond developing, all sorts of feelings emerge. Sarah and Vraaz carefully navigate their emotional wounds surrounding the Tribute ceremony and in the process heal themselves and each other while creating something precious.

Sarah has had a hard time since her sister volunteered to be a tribute bride to a Zexian Warrior 3 years ago and the whole ship went missing. She blames the Aliens for her loss. She has a run in with one of the aliens at a coffee shop when she drops her ID card. What happens next is unexpected and unwelcome.
The story of Sarah and Vraaz is written well and their characters are realistic and make you care what happens next. Absolutely worth the read, so grab it quickly and the rest of the series!.

I really liked this story of fated mates. Sarah has a conflict to resolve. She resents the Zexian people, blaming them for her sister's disappearance while she is disturbingly attracted to Vraaz, a Zexian male. Vraaz feels the connection to Sarah, but feels undeserving of her since he has a disability that makes him less worthy in the eyes of his culture. The resolution of these issues is handled well in the book and we get a HEA.

Vraax and Sarah's random meeting in line for coffee sparked an emotional journey fraught with grief, cultural differences, and personal beliefs. Not to mention piles of tension! 'May I' has never been so toe curling!.

A sweet romance with a tragic history that causes Sarah to have misgivings about being mates with Vraaz. There's enough cultural pushback on both sides that adds to the overall storyline. Loved the characters and the world building. An entertaining read.
