My Father's Daughter

Rate this book
What do you do when everything you’ve ever known suddenly seems fragile?

Our past and our families certainly mold us into who we become, and though Michelle experienced the trials of living with alcoholic parents in a tenuous marriage, she was secure in the bonds that formed her…

Until she heard a secret.

This shouldn’t shake my whole world, she told herself.

But it does.

Over the years, she sensed herself fraying, but she hid it well. No one could see the unraveling.

When we unearth long-buried secrets that leave us flailing around for those connections we thought tightly bound, we must reframe our past and find a way to put on a new garment, stitched by The Creator Himself.

An outstanding memoir!

My Father’s Daughter, written by a former colleague at SCS, is excellent! It’s hard to fathom the emotions one would feel when confronted with the truth that the only father you’ve ever known was not your biological father, but Michelle so clearly and transparently describes the turmoil that she went through that I can imagine that I would have very similar feelings. But what I appreciate most is how she always returns to the truth that our sovereign Lord was not surprised by this turn of events, and that it was He, as stated in Psalm 139:13, who so perfectly knit her together in her mother’s womb.

Michelle is an amazing writer, a godly woman, and one of the best lunch duty partners I ever had. 🙂 I highly recommend this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

I read this book today. I knew most of the stories told in the book already. I knew the beautiful childhood descriptions and most of the people in the book. I knew Shell could write, really write! What I could not anticipate was just how wonderful a story teller she is. She wove wonderful stories with insightful truths and it has touched me to my core. I feel like I got to know her and understand her more than I ever did before. I feel like others who read this book will feel the same. You will be delighted by her descriptions, saddened at times and want to know more about her life and her wise insights. Thank you Shell. This book is a true gem.
