A Transcendent Journey to the Edge of War—Where Only Faith Can Sustain Hope.
For generations, Earth’s militant rulers have waged a relentless, low-grade war against a group of genetically modified humans, branding them as demons and a threat to civilization. Now, the conflict is spiraling out of control.
Gracely Fielder has spent her life on the fringes of this war, engaging in small skirmishes, never expecting to be at its center. But a chance encounter in deep space uncovers a shocking truth—one that thrusts her into a battle her people cannot win.
On Earth, her long-lost brother, Jered, has spent his life hiding his true identity from those who would destroy him. As war looms, his path leads him to an ancient force beyond time—one that defies the known laws of physics, reality, and faith itself.
As parallel universes shift, wormholes open, and a great collision looms, Jered faces an impossible choice: How can he save his sister’s people without destroying the only world he has ever known?
A Visionary and Mind-Bending Sci-Fi Epic
Blending speculative fiction, metaphysical discovery, and hard science fiction, Blue Thunder Across the Shattered Stars is a tale of war, survival, and the thin line between destruction and transcendence.

I remember my giddy anticipation when, as a young person, I explored the works of Bradbury, Herbert, Orwell, Vonnegut, etc., yet I inexplicably turned away from science fiction as I grew older. This book, with its clever storytelling and cinematic descriptions, has brought me back full circle to the genre. Overman’s dynamic cast of characters, human and otherwise, are intricately woven into a web of catastrophic events and compelling stories, all linking to a singular celestial phenomenon. From the details of the turbulent relationship between Homo sapiens and Martians to the seamless integration of daily life in a futuristic universe with that of our current global reality, Blue Thunder Across the Shattered Stars is a story filled with loss, charm, humor, and, most importantly, hope.

Warning: Readers might wish to keep a box of tissue handy. Overman’s masterful depictions of family relationships and life’s realities evoke genuine emotional reactions, and I was caught off guard by tears several times!

SciFi with Heart

This was one of the best books I’ve read this year so far! As a fan of Andy Weir, I loved the character development and the level of research that went into this novel.

The characters were multi-faceted and unique. The plot was intriguing and unpredictable. Like I said, I loved the science aspect, and the ending… chef’s kiss. I’m eager to reread it to see if I missed any foreshadowing and Easter eggs. Definitely one I’ll read again.

I haven’t read the previous two novels, so I appreciated that this was a standalone (although now I’ve added both Blue Sunrise and Blue SunSet on my TBR).

BLUE THUNDER ACROSS THE SHATTERED STARS: A Transcendent Journey to the Edge of War-Where Only Faith Can Sustain Hope
by Gregg R. Overman

I wanted to like this book, the blurb was appealing. Unfortunately, I wasn't ever able to immerse myself into the story. I tried several times, from several different locations in the book. I'm not saying it's the book's or the author's fault, it just didn't grab me.

I received a complimentary copy of #BlueThunderAcrossTheShatteredStars from #netgalley #sogoinvestments #GreggROverman I was not obligated to post a review.

Gregg reckons that this is his best writing yet and he may be right although it is a close run contest between this and Blue Sunrise/sunset.
This one takes place many, many years after the humans on Mars moved to Harmony and shows the paranoia that now exists on Earth. I think it mirrors some attitudes here at the moment.
It is a well written book and was easy to read, I struggled to put it down.
you do need to have read Blue Sunrise & Blue Sunset first or you may not understand some of the references to original Martians etc.
But it is well worth reading.

Best read ever!!

These books.explored a culture and community unlike ones found only in the best imaginations. The Martians, the Tree people and even the Koombar are well developed characters. The story is exciting and still unbelievable believable. The writer keep the.plot moving along with just the right amount of descriptive without being boring and provided needed info as to the characters and the plot. Highly enjoyed!!

Love it.

Really excellent book. I love the connections to the earlier books while maintaining it's separate identity. I can imagine this as an example of additional loosely connected tales.

I loved Gregg's first 2 "Blue" books. This is different but equally enjoyable. Great characters & some more amazing physics. Slow start then builds up to an amazing ending. Lots of surprises. Recommended.

This was the best book in the series so far! I really liked the new characters and the writing about their daily lives on the planet Harmony and travels across space. There were some ingenious developments in the story about how adapted humans might interact with both alien life and humanity in general back in the Solar System and beyond.

I am not sure whether Overman considers that this book has brought the tale to an end, but it certainly felt like a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, for me at least.
