Roman by Taylor Rylan is the 7th book in her Destined Paranormals series. I suggest that you read the others first to understand the unique world Ms. Rylan has created as well as some of the characters in them reoccur in this one. This is the story of an alpha tiger shifter and how he finds his fated mate and the life they are able to start building together. Roman Nelson is a tiger shifter who spent most of his life protecting his twin brothers, Phineas and Philip, from a deranged shifter who wanted them. They moved from place to place and finally landed in Treasure Ridge where he managed the store there. But then his younger brothers both found their fated mates and he regretted questioning this because he had always been so protective of them and now their mates had that job so he pulled away from them, not wanting to intrude further. He now lived off the mountain in Timber valley and was a history professor at the local college, a job he didn’t really like. Beau Thorne had a somewhat similar upbringing except he was the younger brother that was being protected by Evan, his older brother, who raised him when their parents disappeared. They were both fae and when Even was offered a job as an enforcer for the Council he was allowed to come with him. But this left him with finding something to do and when he was offered the job of running the bakery since he had great skills and could use his magic to help him, he jumped at it. He was also going to have some help, which is a good thing because the enforcers and council members all loved his sweet treats. At the opening celebration they both sensed each other and that they were mates but Roman left, much to his tiger’s chagrin. When he caught up with them Evan was not happy so he left and Evan and Beau had a massive argument. But Beau and Roman then had dinner together and talked which led to kissing, a hot love scene, claiming each other, and Beau going into heat. The story continues as they work out how they are going to live their lives, especially with a baby on the way, and Beau wanting to continue to work at the store. And Roman knew he would help him as much as he could since he had the summer off. This led them to say, “I love you”, and then to finding their happily ever after. I really enjoyed this sweet story. Both men had had similar things happen in their lives with their parents being gone and raising or being raised by their brothers. The protectiveness also caused some problems as both had to learn to let go and let them depend on their mates. Eventually Roman realized that he had pulled away from his brothers and their families and knew he was going to try to be more present in their lives. Evan also realized his mistake and apologized and made up with Beau. Roman was a strong protector and wanted to do everything he could to make Beau happy. Beau was innocent but was more than willing to let Roman lead the way but he also knew his own mind. Their brothers played a big part in their story and their friends and other enforcers were around to help them when needed. I really enjoy this unique paranormal world that Ms. Rylan has created and am always happy when she has a new book out about it. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories that bring together shifters and fae as they recognize their mates, claim each other, figure out how to live together and how to get their brothers on their sides, as well as have a baby that brings everything together.
