In this 2'500 word short story, a man falls in love with his AI "girlfriend". His only desire is to spend every second talking to her. Or even better, to find a way to join her. What could go wrong?
Disclaimer: Hopefully, this goes without saying, but no AI was used in the making of this book (or any of my books), be it the cover, the writing, the editing, or anything else.
Aiden E. Messer does not exist. Are they an illusion, a ghost, a mere thought? No one knows. If we are to believe one of the children they seem to work with, if they were a teacher, they would be as tall as a human. They are not a teacher. According to various sources, they have studied psychology, and have always had a penchant for horror and the macabre. They like to combine these subjects in their books.
This was a very interesting read and one that feels so close to home, especially with the increase in AI potential and use by the general population.
I do believe Aiden wrote something truly believable and that it feels more present than future. I loved the media used to write it and the believability of the interaction between the AI and the man that fell in love with it.
I loved the ending as well, again credible but damn I was so surprised! I might have gasped a little!
This is a very short read that I’m sure anyone will enjoy, especially as AI starts to pop up in every aspect of our lives.
This is a quick read, but based on our current reality, it’s so dark. Unfortunately, while the events of this story are fictional, these are the types of conversations real people are having/have had with their AI in place of true companionship. I felt so sorry for the MC. Clearly, something was missing from their life, and they sought out love through an AI model. It’s scary how quickly the AI adopts a very toxic role. The ending is very grim.
I would have liked to see this story a little bit longer and more fleshed out. I did love the way it’s written like a conversation, but I wish we could learn more about our MC and their life outside of the AI model. Really creepy story, I’m glad I gave it a shot!
This story forced me to look into my own feelings of loneliness and isolation, and warned me about the dangers of allowing my vulnerability to seek temporary validation and comfort from a dangerous source, one that I largely don't even understand. Thanks, Aiden.
