”Let me make this clear to you. There is nothing uncertain in how i want you. It’s almost maddeningly certain I’ve ever felt. I want you all the time. I want you everywhere”
The biggest problem in life that I have is that I assume things.....and I assumed that this was a duology ahahaha so the shock on my face as I read that ending would make a good meme.
“You see blundering. I see progress. There is beauty to behold in the in between.”
This book tbvh was not as good as book1 for me and I know this is an unpopular opinion because people liked book 2 more but for me book 1 was amazing and that's fine because book 2 was a solid sequel as well, I just felt that it was too long, the writing was really fun to read, I was in a slump but I still managed to read it and besides that I loved how well everything from book 1 was handled, how most of the opportunities that book 1 provided were explored and how its widening it's stance but again it was too long, at times the filler content just got on my nerves, I didn't hate it but I would want it to move on!! like actually move forward but thankfully there was just a patch and it did move forward and gave us that ending >:(

Silla and Rey Our main characters were so fun to read about!! I was rooting for them since book 1 to see them in this one was the highlight, I loved how much Silla developed as a character and how I felt her character to be more relatable now and how I found more connection and how more likeable she was, Rey's grumpy persona coupled up with him wanting to keep Silla safe was everything, their chemistry worked so well and all the scenes that they shared, their perspectives were the best part about this book. Saga and Rurik, were new characters that got pov's in this book and I do feel that it took me some time to adjust to them and like them like for rey and sillas chapters I would enjoy both the story and the characters arc but as for Saga and Rurik, I enjoyed the story from their perspective more than their character arcs. I do feel like their arcs have more to offer and that in the next book(s?) I will be more fond of them.

The romance, for me Saga and Ruriks romance was cute but I wasn't that invested but as for Silla and Rey, I was bouncing off the walls for them, they were everything, the grump x sunshine vibe was so prominent here and I loved how Silla and Rey's chemistry was so natural and the slow burn was actually so lethal because these two botches weren't fucking kissing!! I also liked how Rey didn't coddle her and how Silla didnt want to be coddled, I just like how they started communicating and understood each other and that is probably the reason why their romance storyline overshadowed the other one.
“You cannot risk your life like that. It’s worth something!”
Silla stepped closer. She was small, yet so fierce. He wanted to hold her, wanted to shake her, wanted to kiss her and strangle her all at once.
When she spoke, her voice was low and dangerous. “You’d best not suggest your life is not worth the risk, Galtung. I would do it all over again.”
The worldbuilding was done here and it felt so fun to read, it did get a little boring at time but for the most part I was having fun, the plot progressed a little slower but I didn't mind and omgg all that Jonas plotline had me furious because ugghh I hate him sm

Somehow this book was better than the first. That never happens. Adding Saga’s storyline was absolute genius and added a perfect balance to the book that also served to create tension as the two sisters worked to help one another, completely unaware of the other’s actions. As one POV reveals information, it creates a nerve-wracking realization in the other. I haven’t read a book so wonderfully constructed in a long time. And we continue to have hulking Viking warrior love interests, so I suppose they round out the 5th star ;)

This was so good! Like, really good. I enjoyed it so much. The first half was definitely a five star for me because I loved the pacing, and the romance between my favorite characters finally started romancing. There were many questions and events that kept me interested and hooked. However in the second half, while it was still good and I enjoyed it, the pacing slowed down and i kinda felt silla story line started to be repetitive.I understood why, but I was also like 'Come on, let's move past that so we can get to the other stuff’ The ending was so good and left me feeling 🧍♀️🧍♀️🧍♀️ Also not me and Clace thinking this was a duology, but the ending and cliffhanger proved us wrong 🧍♀️🤡

silla & rey I liked Silla more in this book than in the first one, to be honest. I felt that in this one, she made more of an effort to take charge of her life and to become something other than the weak girl she once was. Her speech in the last couple of chapters about not abandoning her people made me so proud! And Rey oh my god! This man is literally perfect! I loved his character and the it’s depth! the whole situation with his brother was so heartbreaking. 🫂
The romance between them was incredible and so hot! The slow burn was slow burning so bad because i almost cried for them to kiss like come one kiss her already i’ve been dying for this since book one!!!and when it finally happened, it was so intense! I loved how Rey didn’t want to babysit her or make her feel weak, and act like oh i’m gonna be savior and she always gonna depend on me. I loved how he encouraged her to fight, to believe that she could protect herself! I adored how she always told him, 'I’m going to take care of you,' and their scenes together literally warmed my heart. I love them so much! 🤍

Rurik & saga saga story was so good i loved her!! Yes she was weak and naive but that is so understandable giving her situation and how she was locked in and all that!! I loved her eagerness to help her sister and omg her relationship with Anna and that happened made me cry!! That was so brutal ✋🏻💔 and i don’t know much about rurik!! He was so hot and his scenes with her were so hot ugh i loved it!! 🤍
Overall it was good and I enjoyed it and had good time yapping with clace 🤸🏻♀️ so totally 100% recommend 🤍

9th March 2024: This was a really good second book that got much more interesting. It’s written cleverly and developed the story from book 1 into something I couldn’t have expected. It’s no small mission to successfully make the second book better than the first so giving credit where it’s due is a must!
The story is written from different areas of the region at the same time so we know what’s happening with Jonas in Kopa, Saga (the sister) in Sunnavik, and Silla and Rey in Kalasgarde. This type of story telling was so helpful because it brought the story together really well and we got to see how certain things were linked. It also meant that the reader had insight into what was happening so we weren’t frustrated. This gave us room to properly enjoy the plot and focus on the mystery. I’m telling you this romantasy turned into a full on mystery for me and I felt like a detective!! 😂
Silla - can you say CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?? Silla seriously overcame a lot in this book. She was stronger and sharper than what we saw in Road of Bones. Her development was paced perfectly and we got taken along a journey with how she came to accept who she was and her magic. It wasn’t easy but her internal battles were written well. She’s 100% still sunshine but there’s a little less naivety.
Rey - 🥺😭❤️ we got Rey’s backstory and insight into his internal battles and let me tell you, it was PERFECT. It explained him so well and I like that he got some character development too. We see him in his home town of Kalasgarde and get introduced into some cool characters from his past.
Their relationship was 10/10! It’s was a perfect pace where they both went on their own healing journeys at the same time. It became a relationship you would root for! The explanation as to why Rey always felt connected to her was so sweet 🥹. I knew we’d get an answer and I loved the backstory. And their banter 🤌🏾👌🏾
Jonas - you bitter hoe. (Jonas in this book was a great villain. He was annoying and twisted but you kind of understood his reasons, even though he needs to GO. you don’t betray people like that!!!!!)
Saga - great introduction to Saga’s character. Her story was heartbreaking* 🥺 her story is just starting out and I’m excited! Kass is crazy but I kind of like him for her 🤣. I know it can be annoying having two separate love stories in one book but it didn’t feel too overwhelming or confusing. I think it’s because they happened in different places and this part of the story actually added to the plot in a substantial way. The twist concerning Kass at the end though? LORD.
This whole story turned into something more mysterious, complex and interesting and I’m so pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be your normal fantasy Viking romance. But it’s genuinely got some other tropes thrown in. I want to do a spoiler free review so I can’t say too much we start seeing more elements.
I do want to give a bit of a warning though - it’s that the different secrets and mysteries may get a little overwhelming if you were preparing for a standard romance fantasy…I can completely understand why some people may think the story got messy. Because it really does switch up on you hahaha.

yeah safe to say after this book i am obsessed with these characters, this world, and this plot 🫶🏻✨🦉
i was immediately sucked into this book and could barley pull myself away. the plot was addicting. literal crack!! 🐍 🐉 👸🏼

we also get more romance between other characters in this book and let me tell you top fucking tier!!!
𝚛𝚎𝚢 oh my grumpy viking fuck!! this man only gets better and better. the banter, the spice (finally 🙂↕️🧎🏻♀️) and the power this man possesses yes pls, inject him straight into my veins. i love all the lore we find out about him in this book, his character development, finally letting 𝚜𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚊 in my heart 💓 anytime he calls her ✨𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞✨ 🐥 🥺 and then we have 𝚜𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚊 my mf queen!! i loved seeing her find herself and her power in this book. i could yap about her for a minute i won’t lie. but something about a lost princess reclaiming her throne just hits every single time!

the addition to 𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚊 & 𝚔𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚛 𝚛𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚔 povs was one of my favorite parts of the book. first off i need 𝚛𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚔 biblically. second, the tension between these two was off the charts ˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝓌𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 🩵🪽 and third 𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚊, my sweet girl her story is so tragic. i loved seeing her character development in this book and need more of her
i also loved all the people we meet in kalasgarde 🖤 so many good characters in this book ughh. except jonas, he is STILL such a little bitch why i outta 👊🏻🤬
i will say though i missed the the bloodaxe crew so much in this so you already know im running to roots of darkness immediately!!! 🪓 ☠️ HEKLA MOMMY ON MY WAY

the addition to 𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚊 & 𝚔𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚛 𝚛𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚔 povs was one of my favorite parts of the book. first off i need 𝚛𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚔 biblically. second, the tension between these two was off the charts ˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝓌𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 🩵🪽 and third 𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚊, my sweet girl her story is so tragic. i loved seeing her character development in this book and need more of her

HOLD UP BC book 1 was cute, fun, whatever, a good start to the series…. THIS BOOK??? Simply blew me away!!!!!!! It’s 600 pages but I gobbled it up like it was 100 pages. So bingeable. The pacing was insane I was on the edge of my seat the entire damn time!!!!! Character development was SO GOOD & plot to romance ratio was really perfect🤌🏼

The sequel to The Road of Bones was equal parts enjoyable and disappointing for me and for that I give it 3 stars.
This books started off so strong. I thought it was going to be a 5 star because the world opens up further with another POV. Here there was room for political intrigue and court dynamics which was a fun compliment to the travel / in hiding scenes from other POVs. Also the addition of Rurik was a consistent delight. <3
The main thing that detracted from my experience was unfortunately the romance. You follow two romantic subplots in this installment. One of which went from the most delicious slow burn I’ve read in a long time to a cringe cheeseball fest. It read pretty formulaic for me and all the dialogue felt like lines pulled from other Romantasy books. Once the ick was caught it could not be undone. That being said, I have a well documented aversion to certain flavors of romance… I DO think others will really enjoy this.
The predictability… just like in book 1 there are things so painfully obvious that you’re just waiting the entire book for them to be inevitably revealed. It makes the book (paired with some juvenile dialogue) feel less mature than it is. This is particularly frustrating because the world Winters crafted is so interesting!! but the eye roll worthy moments took me out of the story. Again though,,, there are some pleasant surprises too.
There’s still really distinct characters voices in this story which I loved. But the nickname use and repetition of certain phrases that formed these distinct personas NEEDED to be cut down. “Axe Eyes” “Almost Smile” “Winterwing” “Sunshine”… my eye gave a violent twitch every time.
Oh my god I almost forgot… I did in fact cried tears of joy at a horse subplot.

Did I finish this book, or did it finish me? Cue the book hangover…
Finally! A 5⭐️read. I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve read one worthy enough. But are we really shocked? After falling in love with The Road of Bones, there were zero doubts in my mind that the follow up wouldn’t be anything other than perfection. The characters are so fleshed out and real. Cant help but love them (or LOATHE them!). The world building is done so well. I can picture everything so clearly while reading. Pieces are falling into place for a much, much bigger world. Oh, and-THE ROMANCE! The romance is definitely romancing 👏🏻.
For me, TRoB had a slower start. Not KoC! Started off with a bang, and never let go. Never a dull moment. In book 2, we gain another pov.(can’t wait to see where this character goes in the next installment!!)
I have so many thoughts and feelings on this installment. So much I want to say, but will hold back until this gets into readers hands upon release. I will say you guys are not ready! What to expect-twists&turns, banter🤌🏻(romantic and platonic), some more secrets, heart swooning moments, and moments that will put you on the edge of your seat!!
This one does have heavier themes than TRoB, so going in with the right head space will be key. Check the TWs for this one. It does pack a punch to the feels. But all themes were handled with care and done well imo.

Kingdom of Claw was even better and the emotional rollercoaster I did not see coming! It even gets a little darker than book 1.
Balancing Silla's POV with Saga's was done brilliantly, it mirrored their journeys added so much emotion and angst aside from the romance. Despite their tragic backstory, the bond and love between them is so beautiful it hurts.
Saga's POV in particular breaks my heart.
It remains multi-pov and there's one particular POV I had to roll my eyes when I got to it.
The romance(s) were a delight and what I was rooting for in book 1 finally happened! Not to mention the new slow burn romance storyline that was added for a new character was an absolute delight!!
The magic was fleshed out more and I loved seeing Silla grow into her own powers.
This book managed to get me more emotionally attached to the characters and I can't wait for the next book to come out!!

2.5 stars because that plot pacing was dreadfully slow and it didn't get any better upon a reread.
THE GOOD
It was a wise choice to add in Saga's perspective with Silla's so we get slightly more plot and intrigue. I liked Kassandr Rurik and Saga, and I liked that subtle tension of not knowing if Saga was going to be safe or not.
THE BAD
1) The first book already took a bit of a slow, ponderous pace, but this book definitely leans into the "filler book" status. Honestly, not a lot happens plot-wise and the character development didn't resonate for me either. The storyline of Silla honing in her skills was dull for me, and not even the mysterious water serpent that terrorizes the town every seven days was enough to pull my interest.
2) I wish we'd continued to flesh out Jonas a bit more. I have a hard time believing that one event in the first book could turn him into a traitorous villain through and through, not just betraying Silla but also betraying Rey and the rest of the Bloodaxe Crew without serious reserves. Even if we saw more of a conflict within him over betraying his Bloodaxe family, you know?
3) I feel like I'm in the minority here but I could not -- for the life of me -- get any chemistry between Rey and Silla. It was there perfectly in the first book but mayhaps it's that their characterizations have both become slightly more immature in this book that everything read more like a standard, straight-to-Kindle-Unlimited romantasy. I wonder if this is what happened when the author got picked up by a traditional publisher.
4) Silla and her new powers adds a layer of fantasy here that wasn't in the first book, and honestly I'm just "meh" about it. I was much more interested in learning about Saga's powers and seeing her use it.
5) Kassandr was alluring and flirty, but his characterization is basically the same smirk and swagger of Jonas from book one. Saga, similarly, was fairly indistinguishable from Silla. The ending to their story, however, happened quite suddenly and a bit out of place.

Wow wow wow I am absolutely BLOWN away by this book. The book hangover is real. Ahhhh I don’t even know how to form the words to explain how incredible and unique this book was… I’m unwell. The characters are written so well it’s impossible to not get emotionally attached to them. The world really expanded in this book and with the addition of Sagas POV so many puzzle pieces come together!!! I crave fantasy books with multiple POVs of characters on separate journeys that ultimately cross paths and everything weaves together so perfectly but it’s rare for me to see that done RIGHT, and my god did this deliver. The plot as a whole was so well paced and there was never a single dull moment, but expect multiple edge of your seat, nail biting moments.
The romance… the ROMANCE, scrumptious. Yet it doesn’t over power the plot WHATSOEVER. Not one, but two couples that deliver the most delicious banter and angst imaginable. Don’t even get me started on Rurik… I need this man and his accent and poor English and attitude and smart mouth more than I need air.
The mental health rep is incredible in this series. Demi does an amazing job at highlighting the inner war anxiety and grief can bring about. Watching Saga and Silla fight their mental battles and truly grow into themselves was so empowering. I love them both so much and cannot wait to see them kick ASS in the next book.

I loved the other storyline going on in the castle, more than Silla’s storyline tbh. Silla was in her training bag but her chapters felt slow compared to the other POV.

You're kidding! I need more right now. How long am I supposed to wait for the third book?! And it's supposed to be a five-book series!?! No way. Wake me up when the next book is here. 4.5 stars rounded up!
I had such a good time with this sequel! It was significantly better than the first in terms of pacing and world-building. Many new concepts and threads added depth and complexity to the story. The introduction to Saga's character added so much to this novel. Her character arc was compelling and I appreciated the mental health aspect of it with agoraphobia, PTSD, and anxiety heavily influencing her thoughts and actions. Her side of the book was far more intriguing than Sila's, whose storyline felt repetitive and weak in comparison (which is why I didn't rate the first book higher than 4 stars.) However, there were still times when the pacing slowed and there was little sense of urgency (training montage, sneaking around the castle, etc.) though it was an improvement compared to the first novel.

There seemed to be more action and intricate moving parts making it all the more exciting and addicting. The magic system, mythical gods, and creatures were explored more thoroughly. The overall tone felt darker and gritter, especially Saga's POV. There was a fair bit of spice in the latter half of the book as well with some explicit sex scenes. Although I was not super invested in Rey/Sila's romance, it has the potential to build in later novels as we have 3 more books with them. I was far more curious about Rurik and Saga's relationship and can't wait to see what Demi does with them in the sequel, especially with that twist at the end.

Overall I can't wait for the sequel! Demi Winters continues to improve her craft with captivating, immersive worlds and compelling characters. With three more books in this series, there is so much to explore. A great fantasy to sink your claws into with a romantic subplot to keep you satisfied and enough action to keep your blood pumping.

You're kidding! I need more right now. How long am I supposed to wait for the third book?! And it's supposed to be a five-book series!?! No way. Wake me up when the next book is here. 4.5 stars rounded up!
I had such a good time with this sequel! It was significantly better than the first in terms of pacing and world-building. Many new concepts and threads added depth and complexity to the story. The introduction to Saga's character added so much to this novel. Her character arc was compelling and I appreciated the mental health aspect of it with agoraphobia, PTSD, and anxiety heavily influencing her thoughts and actions. Her side of the book was far more intriguing than Sila's, whose storyline felt repetitive and weak in comparison (which is why I didn't rate the first book higher than 4 stars.) However, there were still times when the pacing slowed and there was little sense of urgency (training montage, sneaking around the castle, etc.) though it was an improvement compared to the first novel.

There seemed to be more action and intricate moving parts making it all the more exciting and addicting. The magic system, mythical gods, and creatures were explored more thoroughly. The overall tone felt darker and gritter, especially Saga's POV. There was a fair bit of spice in the latter half of the book as well with some explicit sex scenes. Kingdom of Claw is a worthy successor to The Road of Bones.
We follow Silla, and her sister Saga on the road to to regain all they've lost. This book is full of romance, intrigue, vicious bad guys, memorable fights, lovable characters, and a lot of magic. Demi Winters is proving herself to be the queen of Norse inspired fantasy.
Silla and Saga both are worthy heroines I loved following. Initially I was apprehensive about the addition of Saga but I found myself at times even more invested in her story than Silla's due to her precarious position. I am eager for the next book's release.
If you read The Road or Bones and loved it as much as I did then Kingdom of Claw needs to be your next read. If you haven't read it, what are you waiting for? The Road of Bones is the best Norse inspired fantasy I've read and also one of the very top romantasy books I've ever read.

Damn this book was ALOT! No actually it was super long and could have been at least 150 pages shorter 😅
That said, I’m committed to finishing this series! I NEED to see Silla and Saga reunited 😭 Sisters need to be together! And poor Saga, I want to cry for her the majority of the book 😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔

This was, unfortunately, very disappointing. I enjoyed The Road of Bones quite a bit (gave it 4.75 stars!) and was really looking forward to the next installment in the series. Somehow this book is over a hundred pages longer than the first book, but so little happens!
I was nervous when I saw the author announce on instagram that this would be a 5 book series because I didn't see how you could stretch this story into five long books, and now I see that I was right to be worried. This book was almost entirely filler.
the story is broken into three different POVs:
- Jonas's is entirely unnecessary and should've been cut. It adds literally nothing to the story.
- Saga's is the most interesting, as it shows a different perspective of what's going on in the kingdom and introduces Silla's sister who had been referenced a bunch in the previous book.
- Silla's is the most boring but takes up just as much space as Saga's, if not more. Seriously, nothing even remotely impactful to her storyline happens until 57% in (and even then it's not that impactful, it's just a subplot that finally starts getting some movement).
Somehow the author took Rey and Silla, two characters who I felt were generally better written and more interesting than most romantasy leads, and made them very generic. They become very basic, cookie cutter romantasy tropey leads. The intrigue of is immediately made boring in this book because god knows you can't have a morally grey lead these days. Of course they go back and forth on their relationship for over half of the book and when they finally do get together, it's a whole bunch of "I'm not good enough to be with you" and "I'll fight for you no matter what" drivel. It's just so... juvenile. And I expected more from these characters after enjoying the first book quite a bit.
It feels like the author knew how she wanted the climax of the book to go, and just tacked on 400 pages of absolute filler before that. Where was the editing? Why did the author include any POVs aside from Saga's at all? This book could literally be summed up as:
It felt like there was no set up or payoff or planning ahead at all with how the story was structured. For example, we find out about 90% in that . Up to this point, there weren't any indicators I noticed that Saga was anxious about her hands or wore gloves all the time, so it felt out-of-nowhere. In the very next chapter, Saga reveals this information to her love interest and he gets to be all "who did this to you, imma kill them". Then in the next Saga chapter, she decides she's totally over her trauma and is never wearing gloves again.
The impact is just not there. Imagine how much better this could've been if we'd been informed of this trauma earlier? If we could've seen Saga hiding it, or see Rurik discover it in some more impactful way? It's like the author heard people really like the "who did this to you" trope the night before the final draft was due and so she shoved it in there haphazardly.
This book is such a disappointing downgrade from the first that I don't think I'll continue reading the series. It really feels like this should've just been a novella, 100% from Saga's POV, that takes place during the events of Road of Bones.

Mmm feeling a little conflicted about this sequel. Still overall enjoyed it! Silla’s story started to drag for me in the second half and I didn’t love her romance plot as much as I expected to. Saga’s half of the book was definitely my favorite.
I worry that the plot is becoming convoluted. A lot of new concepts and threads were introduced in this book and I don’t know how I feel about some of them.

Absolutely perfect romantic fantasy. Somehow I liked this even more than The Road of Bones. The writing and pacing was perfect. The plot is intricate and interesting and the characters are complex and well rounded. The world building is also very well done. The romance is so good and doesn’t overwhelm the plot. I can’t wait to continue this series

WOW this book did not disappoint and really solidified this series as one of my all time favorites. This was everything I wanted in a sequel following the Road of Bones! Amazing character development, more magic & lore, all the slow burn tension, and that new POV?! There must be something in this series because whatever it is, I am ADDICTED.
The plot of this series just continued to THICKEN throughout book 2. Every new development had me on the edge of my seat, especially with the multiple POVs. We meet 2 new characters in this book and I have to say, they really stole the show for me. The way every interaction of theirs had me GIDDY - I really could not get enough of them!!
Another highlight of this book? Easily the SLOW BURN. I have not read a slow burn this satisfying in so long and I am OBSESSED. The character development, the yearning, the tension - the progression of the love story in this series is so perfectly paced to me!
Now that ending had me SWEATING😰 My emotions were all over the place, and with the way things left off, book 3 is already set up to be SO INTERESTING. I love where this series is going and the way each book keeps ramping up and building to something even more EPIC. I cannot wait to see where book 3 takes us and what’s in store for these characters!

Okay not gonna lie, the first half of this I started to feel a little unmotivated to keep reading. Only because the first book took place on the road of bones and we got to explore so many new places. This book takes place mostly in Kalasgard (Rey’s hometown) and while I did enjoy a lot of parts of this, it wasn’t until the end of the book when they left on their next journey that the story really picked up for me.
That being said, Saga’s story became such a highlight! We got court politics, a surprise second mmc with an accent and some juicy secrets?! Incredible. I also love Saga’s story, it’s tragic and dark but watching her come into not only her power but her strength was really incredible to read. I’m so intrigued by her power, her relationship with Kass, and what her life will look like moving forward. That’s a huge motivation for me in book three!
Silla really came into her own as well. I mean her ice blade is cool as hell! I can’t wait to see her explore her power even more, although with the dark one in her life (soul?!) now I don’t know what things will be like for her. I liked watching her relationship grow with Rey and I really like him as an mmc. I also really enjoyed learning more about his story and trauma. There were a lot of layers to him and I loved that we got to learn them all.

I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me a read on book two.
Wow. Talk about intense, high stakes, all my little quibbles from the first book were solved, expanded upon. I'm not a big fan of the romantasy genre, but for a book being billed as romantasy, I feel like there is more going on here. There is a story and I like where it is heading.
I feel awful for the situations the two sisters are being thrust into. I like their romantic counterparts and I love how this book ended where the road to good intentions and happy endings is paved with sacrifice.
This time the only issue I have in this book is the crew from the first book are gone / missing / no longer touched upon. The author spent some good time building them up in book one to completely remove them from the plot of book two. They are mentioned briefly here and there and I do hope they pop up again in book three.
All in all, for someone like me who is picky with this type of genre, I'm enjoying myself.
