Community organizer Essence Haskins has made powerful enemies cleaning up the streets of Goldcrest. When death threats escalate to real violence, she discovers someone has been eliminating her problems before they can touch her.
Someone dangerous. Someone obsessed. Someone who's been tracking her every move.
Beau Antonov is a political fixer who destroys secrets for the elite. But when he sees Essence fighting for justice with fire in her eyes, she becomes his only mission—and his darkest obsession.
He knows her schedule. He's learned her habits. He's been watching, waiting, protecting from the shadows.
Now her enemies are disappearing one by one, and Essence is caught between the devil she knows and the stalker she doesn't.
When obsession wears the mask of protection, how do you tell the difference between salvation and possession?
He'll kill to keep her safe.
She'll burn to make him hers.
A dark standalone romance featuring a stalker anti-hero, forbidden obsession, and explosive chemistry. HEA guaranteed.
Essence was torn between doing her job for the community and having time for a relationship. All she had time for was a one-night stand. But Beau Antonov wasn't having it. He fell for her when he first saw her at a press conference. Now that he had her attention he was not going to give her up. He made sure she stayed protected and helped solve her biggest case even though she found out that he was her stalker bae. He'd do anything to protect her even take a bullet for her. But in the end, the heart won out.
The Vigilante's Obsession by Odyssey Lenoir is a fast-paced age-gap romance between a spirited community activist and the well-seasoned debonair man who has inserted himself into all aspects of her life. Essence Haskins selflessly gives back to her community, but her determination is hampered by the local criminal element and one person in particular, Rafael Pineda. When Beau Antonov glimpsed Essence months ago on television, he was immediately captivated and had spent almost every waking moment surveilling her life. When the pair finally meet their chemistry is explosive, but can Beau walk away after just one encounter, and will Essence allow him to stay near when she realizes all the steps he has taken to be in her orbit? Criminal steps. Stalking steps. The Vigilante’s Obsession is the first book I have read by this author, and I was very impressed with the pacing of the book, the development of her characters (both main and secondary) as well as the tenderness and humor of the narrative. Speaking of humor, Navanni had some of the best lines, I could easily see her starring in her own book 😊. Now that I have discovered Ms. Lenoir, I intend to read her other stories and any that she has coming out. The only way this book could have been better would have been the addition of an epilog to give readers a glimpse of Essence and Beau in the future.
Hmmm, author @Odyssey Lenoir has delivered again. Her dark romances are always page turners and keep you wanting more! For this one, Essence Haskins, holding it down and helping others with her Community Corrections program. Meanwhile, Beau Antonov, has staked her for his, has been keeping watch over her to ensure her safety, unbeknownst to her. Then, at the Gala, they finally meet. When I tell you those sparks flew so hard, I FELT IT... LOL! A great read, with a great ending. Odyssey Lenoir, always does well with her novels. Vivid, descriptive, gritty, full of the "rush"! Loading another of her novels, now! Happy, lustful, suspenseful, reading :)
The cover and synopsis on Amazon reeled me right in, but unfortunately, the story doesn't live up to the hype. This is a new-to-me author, so I'm unfamiliar with her work, but this particular read falls flat. Character personalities and the story's setting couldn't be farther apart, continuity/pacing errors kept pulling me from the story, and even a copy edit would have highlighted some of the problems. Wanted to like it, but cannot recommend it.
My second Read. This is my second time reading one of Odyssey’s books. I really enjoyed it, because I love age gaps tremendously. I understood the reason that Beau did everything that he did even if I didn’t agree with the way that he did it. He was protecting someone that he loved. Essence may not have understood that from the beginning, but he was willing to give up everything to prove his love for her, and not many men will do that. This was a wonderful book and I will right continue to read all of Odyssey Lenoir’s books.
This is a good short read. Beau was possessive but not obsessed enough for me. Every time Essence waved in whether she wanted to be with him, he was like, okay. Whatever you want. I was looking for that you don’t have a choice obsession. Essence was a bit of a hothead that placed herself and others in constant danger. The book has a good storyline, and I look forward to hearing other stories from this author.
The hot, fine a$$, political fixer and the dirty, community organizer 💥🔥💋👅🍆❤️. This is a hot read, definitely will be on my re-read list. This has a good plot, steamy spicy sex, exciting storyline, the hearts just know 😉.
I received a ARC of this book via Booksprout and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Now Beau is the type of man any woman would want, that ride or die man. The lengths he goes to have his woman is just mind blowing. The way he looks out and care for Essence it touches the heart. This is a story I can read more than once because I like the way it made me feel.
"Obsession* Makes you fall in love with the offender while you might dislike his tactics you have to admire his heart. Now the lady at the receiving end is strong a mite reckless at times, he is there covering her six, 24, 7s. Always keeping her safe. That my friend is book love and Lenoir does it well.
This book is a must read , the plot and suspense had me not wanting to put it down. Beau is dark any mysterious while Essence was a strong female lead. Great job on this book
This is my first read of Ms. Lenoir’s work, and I am an instant fan! I cared about Beau, even though his approach was very unorthodox. I appreciate our female lead’s strength and compassion and just ability to love and forgive when he made the big gesture.
Essence thought she was fighting for justice in her community however the man that was obsessed with her, Beau, was the one making sure she survived the war.
The pacing of this was a tad off and I almost missed the big conflict happening until it was over lol (may have been on me LOL). Dark romance couple’s chemistry was great tho!
