Broken

Rate this book
When Lily finds her boyfriend cheating on her the summer before senior year, it's just another broken piece in her already disappointing life. Then she meets Mason, who seems equally as broken for a different reason, but together they make summer their own and set off to complete a bucket list of promises they vow not to break...and maybe some feelings develop along the way. But their summer fling ends in disaster when Lily and Mason realize they're from rival schools, competing in rival teams. Even worse, when a tragic accident puts their priorities into perspective, can Lily and Mason find a way to be together, and will their friends—and the ultra-competitive sports teams—allow them to have the happy ending they dream of...?

if i’m being honest, i don’t even know why i read this book in the first place. was it good? more or less. did i enjoy having to wait six hours for the next chapter? no. and yet i still read it, because it honestly felt just like the fanfictions i used to read on wattpad… 😭

Somewhere between 2.5-3 stars. I saw the plot line in an Instagram ad and was like I have to read this, and got sucked in pretty quickly. Then when the free chapters were gone and the site gave me an option to subscribe or wait 6 hours for the next chapter, I went ahead and subscribed 😂

Upside: the main characters, Mason & Lily, were super likable, a lot of tension and angst really made it a page turner (or scroller, cause you know it’s an app lol). My jaw hit the floor at the little twists & turns throughout.

Downside: Plot holes galore, very cliché style writing and it was very obvious the author knows ZERO about sports. The football game scenes could have been way better had the author did a little research about the sport especially for high school. The likelihood two rival high schools play each other three, let alone four, times in a season AND in the state championship?! Highly unlikely. And for the love of all that is holy, the quarterback is the one who throws the ball. Like how did this get past editors 🤦🏽‍♀️ Getting offered a full ride to college just by happenstance after a game?!?! Never going to happen. And the volleyball setup was weird too. They played beach volleyball (two players instead of 6)…indoors…in the fall. I’m confused lol. And is where my mother would say, “it’s just Hollywood, Drew, we know it’s fake.” BUT STILL.

I would have loved Oliver and Leah to be explored a little bit more too, they barely had any presence depsite their affair being the cornerstone of Mason and Lily’s meeting. Lastly (since I’m on a roll here), the ending felt rather rushed, and the epilogue left much to be desired. I think Mason would have planned a much better proposal than that.

Interesting and kind of cute story, but I think it could've had a bit more meat to it. The starting premise did hold my attention, the characters were charming, and some even had more depth than I expected! Although I thought the parents just popping in and out and around felt a bit detached from the story. And also, without spoiling anything, the plot point between her parents felt very random/out of place, and forced by the end.
I probably won't read the next one, but it was a relatively chill/sweet read.

Spoiler - there were parts of this book that annoyed me mainly Lilys mum didn’t really understand why she hated her own daughter so much. She had a son he died as a baby so how could she know what he would turn out like and to be mad that Lily wasn’t doing what she expected. Would have been better story telling if Lily was a twin and the twin boy died during a difficult birth. So the mum had underlying resentment.
Lily got over it pretty quickly I would be devastated

Also the synopsis gave the impression that a cheerleader from one school went over to kiss the QB of the other school after catching her boyfriend cheating and they had no prior relationship. Would have been an interesting starting place

However, I did enjoy Lily and Masons story and falling in love. Although I think more background was needed to Lilys life before Mason and her old friends. She didn’t seem that distraught or miss her ex-boyfriend a little cry and she was all better. If they had been dating seriously for two years then surely she would have spent more time upset. And then eventually do the list with mason to try and get over Olly instead of forgetting him in a few hours and going skinny dipping with a stranger.
Overall enjoyed parts of the story would love it to be more in-depth

The storyline of this plot, though somewhat “cliche” was so well written to the point where I read most of it all in one night. I read the first couple of chapters earlier when I found it through an Instagram ad and lost it until today, could not put my phone down until I was finished with the book. The characters were great, the love story is great and let’s just say I want a Mason Cooper in my life because holy hell is he a description of the perfect guy! Would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Spoilers ****

So much unneccessary fluff.

The stuff about Preston had nothing to do with the plot.

the plot was pretty cliche at it goes but a super fast read.

I cannot remember the last time that I started and finished a book in the same day! I came across this book on an Instagram add for Galatea. It was so good that I even purchased more “points” so that I didn’t have to wait 6 hours to read the next chapter for free. It’s such a quick and easy read. You instantly get sucked into the storyline and the characters are well developed and have intriguing personalities. Mason is every girls dream guy and the relationship between him and Lily is inspiring. The only I wish is that the book didn’t end so abruptly and that it was longer. I wanted more and more! I will be reading he next book in Evelyn’s series. Well done!

4⭐️ TikTok made me read this and I wouldn’t say I regret it. I thought is was going to be a short little un complicated romance book but why did it make me ball my eyes out I loved Mason and lily together and Oliver is a butt.

Tropes:
Highschool romance ✅
Boyfriend's rival ✅
School rivals ✅
Car accident ✅
Spicy 🌶️/5

3.5

I got sucked into this by an IG ad. And spent the entire night reading it. It’s 4:30am as I write this review. 😭

I haven’t been able to concentrate on a book for a whole so I’m proud of myself for sticking it out here. The main characters were likable which made it really easy to get through. The drama wasn’t too serious and the “emotional” parts didn’t grip me.

If you’re looking for something mindlessly simple to read that has some editing errors you can bypass, this is a good book to breeze through.

Side note: I saw someone mention this, though while reading it I brushed it off (because it was confusing), but the sports sections were wholly inaccurate. As someone who understands most sports, I chalked it up to the characters not understanding. But really, it’s lazy writing/research.

Like everyone else, I got hooked on this after the first few chapters free from an Instagram ad. I downloaded Galatea, did everything to get more points, and was debating paying for a subscription because I wanted to keep reading it!

It was cheesy and lame, but still addicting to read. Until I got to the point where everyone found out they were dating.

**spoiler and trigger warning**

Lily gets called a slut, her friends stop speaking to her, one person tells her she should kill herself. Mason’s teammates call him desperate, and the coach benches him from the game. All of this just because they are dating each other, but go to rival schools.

I couldn’t read it anymore after that. Those couple chapters were so over the top and obscene.

I really enjoyed this cute story! I loved how cute mason and lily were and how wholesome all the friendships became i am so glad the father got rid of the mom she was horrible! From her actions with her daughter to the secret!! I was a bit sad about how things ended with harry by the end because they were so close but overall i really think this book should be published into a physical copy 4 stars if you can find it its worth the read for sure i found it on another website of free books under the titled my billionaire passion but it is the same book and i assume name was changed to keep it from being deleted by its original charging app

The book itself is fantastic—I'm really enjoying it so far. Unfortunately, I’m giving it 3 stars due to its limited availability. It's only accessible through the Galatea app, which forces readers to either wait six hours between short chapters or pay to unlock each one individually. It’s incredibly discouraging for someone who just wants to immerse themselves in a good story. If I could buy a physical copy or at least a Kindle edition, I’d give it 5 stars and probably finish it within 48 hours.

I’m going to round this up from a 2.5 to three because it wasn’t bad. It was definitely giving like Wattpad read in the middle of the night teenage romances. I definitely got sucked in from an Instagram real advertisement which I am unashamed of.! I will say that I like that this story had an ending and didn’t go on forever. I thought that the main characters were good and cute, but I think that high school rivalry should never be this deep.

I did finish it in one night - like not even three hours! It’s a quick read, and it was moderately enjoyable!

Literally saw this on a TikTok ad and decided to read it (even tho I’m not a reader) at 11pm and didn’t put it down until I finished at 4am. The way they met was so fun & I love a secret friendship turned into a secret romance. The ending was cute but there were some things I wished happened differently. It was a very easy fun read and made me literally say “maybe I’d like reading”. Definitely some plot holes & the author doesn’t know much about sports, but it was still an enjoyable storyline.

Was this story good? — Unfortunately hard to say
Did I read it to the end? — Yes

Torn between 2 or 3 stars. This novel was like a meal you've already bought. The packaging was great, and it didn't look bad, but when you tried it, it just didn't live up to expectations. Still, since you already paid for it, you finished it anyway, leaving you with that 'such a waste, it could've been so much better' feeling.

1st of all, I couldn't find this book on Kindle on Amazon and or under any Books and Noble website. 2nd it was interesting I felt like there could have been more drama BTW the ex. Lastly, it kinda PG-13, definitely teen book but I like some of those genres. I wanted my explicit details when they were together.

DNF, I only read the snippet from the galatea advertisements and the writing pissed me off. "sex hair" Be so for real with me. That single line alone is enough for me to write off the entire book and series. Just say his hair is disheveled. It drives me crazy everytime I see the galatea advertisements.

A new way to use the story of Romeo and Juliet.

Lilly and Mason are the typical cliché of “rivals to lovers”, if being of different high school means “rivals” hahaha

It was a good book but hard to read… thanks to Galatea 🙄

Loved the character growth and romantic plot for this book! However I felt the ending was a little rushed and wish the epilogue wouldn’t have been the only thing we got to wrap up 8 years of big changes in their lives!

2.5-3 ⭐️
I spent the day binging this after seeing a snippet of the plot on an instagram ad (which i’m pretty sure wasn’t even included in the book). Overall there was a lot of plot holes and it was very dramatic, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

What in the wattpad fanfiction did I just read?? Objectively terrible writing and I’m mad at myself that I got hooked enough by a stupid Instagram ad to finish this garbage. It was like a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from, I guess.
