In Heaven, Paul Mallard presents reasons and a way to live with eternity in view. This is an excellent book to get clear answers and get excited about our heavenly home.

Anchored Hope

Mallard writes with urgency, saying the church is too focused on the present. He argues that thinking about heaven and focusing on it will actually create a better and more rounded perspective on our lives now. Thinking about heaven is commanded in Scripture; it means we will be with Jesus, it is wise, and it will help us endure with courage.

What I especially appreciated about this book was the way Mallard presents it. One chapter gives us the big picture, and another provides quick answers to common questions.

For the Christian, our hope is anchored in heaven. Mallard gives this some weight by offering concrete answers about what heaven will be like. We will have a real body—we will have the same body, but a transformed one. Our supernatural body will supersede anything we have known before.

Steadfast in Faith

We will be recognizable and be with those we know, but also get to know the saints who have gone before us. Although there will be male and female, marriage bonds will cease.

Mallard tackles the difficult question of how we can rejoice when those we loved are in hell, and he says that in heaven we will understand God’s justice and grace—enabling us to rejoice. Heaven will also be a life of rest, activity, and satisfaction.

I was most moved toward the end of the book, where Mallard gives practical ways to live with heaven in view. He says that looking toward heaven allows us to be comforted in affliction, knowing that life is short and nothing is random. Heaven is a powerful reminder to be holy and to live with humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and love. It gives us the courage and determination to be steadfast in our faith.

This book brings the reality of heaven to our real lives. Full of comfort and bound for glory.

I received a media copy of Heaven and this is my honest review. @diveindigdeep

Very readable and well applied book on how the reality of heaven should shape the Christian's life now. There were one or two aspects I'd have loved a bit more depth on, but this was written for the popular level - so perhaps I expected too much!

Really helpful. At points in the middle I got a bit lost and maybe it lost some of its power through saying things that seemed obvious. But the last three chapters were POWERFUL and challenging. So well written encouraging. It’s real truth
