Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.

Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

Now this is fun! I don't wanna stop once I pick it up. I wish the entire series came out at the same time! I love watching these killers compete. I love watching the clueless townsfolk scramble around in confusion and fear. I love the rich puppeteers placing side bets with each other. I'm excited to see where this goes and I hope that they just stick to the game. I don't want anything to get in the way of the game. Just make a series about the game please. Anyway, great stuff so far! Can't wait for more!

Second issue and I’m already addicted to this comic series🙏
I really love the tension and everything is just so interesting, you want to know more and what happens next. The characters are written pretty good too, not just the killers and residents, but also the representatives of the 13 families.
I really like that they start with nothing and need to find their personal crates for their equipment, it opens so many opportunities for strategies like setting traps if you find others crates first or (idk if it’s allowed) but stealing their stuff. Also that some are just maniacs and kill everything and some try to mix into the residents and try to blend in/use them for their purposes. I’m so excited to see where this is going!

I kind of take Jordie Bellaire for granted…and then she drops some work like this issue. Her colors are absolutely creating a chilling, creepy atmosphere. The scene where the ambulance headlights washed out the characters faces - wow!

Story wise, this issue is nearly all set up. The premise remains intriguing but I need to see what this is building up to.

Things are really coming along now, the game is in full swing and North Carolina is first out of the game with the hammer immediately being killed last issue. Massachusetts doesn’t take any side bets though or they would of had the money for first kill, but Philadelphia (the precious winner) is keeping an eye on them, they know how they play but it’s still really too early to tell anything. Unfortunately as we go back into the town our good friend Mike at the gas station is one of the first to meet the other players, specifically the skin wearing knife killer representing New Hampshire. He hasn’t found his box for tools yet so he is just working with a box cutter, which is even more unfortunate for Mike’s friend Rob who comes in right behind the killer and becomes the victim of his blade as Mike cowers behind the counter.

Shifting gears a bit, we follow our favorite ambulance team as they head to the site where the hammer had his head blown off…only to find no cops and only a very off-putting nurse they don’t recognize. Laura doesn’t like him or his BS story about the cops leaving to deal with other matters. But he is ultimately able to swindle is way into ride back to the hospital with them. Shifting gears we get a look in on Xavi who is desperately trying to speed across town on his bike to get to Craig as his phone isn’t working. Craig is also wondering where Xavi is, but can’t waste too much time as it’s time to go trick or treating with Jason. Just as they are heading out Jason runs into an another kid and accidentally knocks his game pad out of his hands…it’s none other than the representative of Connecticut: gamer kid Calvin! And after giving a BS story about visiting his aunt who’s already asleep, he swindled his way into joining them for trick or treating. OH NO. Back at Big Bruce auto sales it seems that Bruce was right to pull Audrey away from her son and come in and work instead as they were greeted by south Carolina’s very wealthy looking representative. She leads them on a bit, but it seems that she is here looking for her crate of weapons. But waiting for her in the shadows is Rhode Island’s rope representative. Hahahaha.

As we jump back to the gas station, the box cutter gets full after cutting up one body and the psycho starts enjoying some chips. That’s when pretty boy, the axe representative from Georgia steps in. He remakes that this is quite a disappointing site, then uses his own skills to break the arm of the knife killer and snap his neck. New Hampshire is the second family out of the game, and now pretty boy ahead found himself a ride with Mike. As the issue comes to an end Pennsylvania reveals to Massachusetts that they made a side bet with all the other family e members: 5 billion for whoever takes her killer out. No matter what whoever kills her killer: Pennsylvania can take the credit for it. Hahahaha, ruthless! This is definitely a bit of a slower setup issue, but I am loving all of this so much!

Exquisite Corpses #2 continues the brutal, high-stakes horror established in the debut, delivering a tense and bloody follow-up that cements this series as one of 2025’s most exciting genre comics. The creative team—Michael Walsh and James Tynion IV, joined by artist Marianna Ignazzi—ramps up the carnage and intrigue as the killers descend on Oak Valley, turning the small town into a battleground for survival.

The second issue in the new comics series is as gory and riveting as the first one (with a gross but awesome bracket at the back to see where all of the favorite killers are in the competition).

The blood and guts is almost secondary to the despicable nature of those that are battling it out and the poor town that's caught in the crossfire simply for being the town where the murder spree is going to take place around Halloween.

All about it.

Liking it so far, but think I may wait for the full volume to come out. I'm not really one to keep up on single issues.

Not quite as strong as #1, but few comics are. Still looks to be an awesome Halloween ride.

I really enjoyed all the killers’ entrances. I immediately hated the child killer.
