They don’t know I’m a girl.

They all look at me and see a boy. A prince.

Their kind purchase humans like me—male or female—for their lustful desires.

And, when they storm into our kingdom to buy my sister, I intervene to protect her. I make them take me too.

The plan is to escape with my sister whenever we find a chance.

How am I to know our prison will be the most fortified place in their kingdom?

I’m supposed to stay on the sidelines. The one they have no real use for. The one they never mean to buy.

But then, the most important person in their savage land—their ruthless beast king—takes an interest in the “pretty little prince.”

How do we survive in this brutal kingdom, where everyone hates our kind and shows us no mercy?

And how does someone, with a secret like mine, become a lust slave?

When Kiss Leilani was twelve, she snuck into her older sister's room while she slept to steal one of her romance novels, curious to discover why her sister was always lost in a book. That single act of rebellion created a lifelong obsession.

From that moment, a chronic booknapper was born—one who blossomed into an avid reader and, over time, an equally passionate writer.

For Kiss Leilani, writing has since become more than a hobby; it’s a joy and an integral part of her life.

Same issues I had with book 1 are prevalent here. I know now not to expect any thing different. But it hurts to see such a good plot and storyline wasted by being unfinished, unfleshed out and too simplistic writing.

While I feel no pride in having finished this book - I feel appropriately satisfied that I have this strange fixation out of my system. The moment the author hinted at a continuing plot, I felt completely done with the story. Freed from my shackles. Did I gain anything from this story? Sure, the knowledge that people genuinely want to fuck animals.
While not my cup of tea, I do think literary pornography is the only ethical form of pornography. However, what is unethical, was biology laid out in this book. While I understand that the love interest (if you can call him that) is literally a different species - I was concerned by the sheer lack of anatomical correctness.
Yet of all this books crimes, literary crimes and actual plot crimes, the worst one was a characters internal monologue exclaiming ‘holy doly’.

This story would be really good if the author took some time to do proper editing. The constant typos and obvious issues distract from some good world building and engaging plot.

OMG THIS WAS GOOD! FILTHY, BRUTAL AND PRIMAL. OMEGAVERSE AND KNOTTING LOVERS, THIS WOULD BE FOR YOU!! It's not omegaverse per se, but the signs traits were similar.

This review is based on the first 2 books! Btw CHEF'S KISS to the book cover design.

Gosh! This took me by surprise! I don't understand what's with all the 2 stars review. English is my first language, and frankly the CONTENT matters more than grammar. Those reviewers were pretty harsh, calling out on typos and slamming this as amateur work, but as a connoisseur and huge ass fan of good authors for PNR, SHIFTERS, OMEGAVERSE genres, rest assured - THIS WAS SURPRISINGLY GOOD!

The story features 2 couples - the MCs and the heroine's sister with the MMC's best friend.

EMERIEL was raised as a male her entire life to protect her identity and gender. Why the fuck is that so? Well, apparently I think it's because they live in a misogynistic world whereby the women were treated poorly and as royalty, were used as bargaining chips. When her uncle sold both sisters to the Urekai - shifting beasts - Emeriel sought only to protect her sister. Who knew things would get so complicated when she realizes that she's the perfect mate - a Syren - whose body can accomodate and mate with the beasts. In other words, she's the only one who can bring the beast back from the brink and make him whole again. She's protective, strong, loyal and loves with her heart.

Not gonna lie, the sex was brutal, painful at the same time, if you have a kink for rough, breeding and knotting...gurrrlll this will set you panties on fireee!! It was HOT. I don't care what anyone else says. I guess it's kinda...bestiality?

Since the story is on-going, know that the characters' development is a working progress and process. The world building was okay, not very intense but we get the gist of things.

DAEMONIKA (sorry if I butchered the name) - boy, did I like him better when he was stuck as a feral beast. Primal instincts beats logic hands down. When a person starts using their brain, everything just goes to shit, because of all the WHAT IF'S and I SHOULDN'T. As a beast, he was so in tune with protecting and possessing Emeriel - he just went with the natural flow. Everyone thought their Grand King suddenly developed a taste for boys LOL! Book 1 was mostly Daemon in beast form, they didn't even talk and strangely, it didn't matter. The bonding process without words captivated me, even though it was riddled in brutality. The pacing of anticipation was good.

In Book 2, Daemon's now back to his human form, and gosh, I gotta say, nothing hurts a woman more than being told that the male she's in love with is still hung up over his dead wife. Daemon woken up from centuries of feral wilderness still remembers the death of his wife and sons like it was yesterday - I liked and disliked him for it. Naturally, he can't be expected to fall in love or even want to have a relationship with ANYONE let alone his soulbond mate. Poor Emeriel. She was like an unwanted sidepiece and now everyone's out to get her.

In a nutshell, there's a lot of hot sex but emotionally? Wow. The author just drove a stake through my heart because I'm hooked. Both MMCs are now rejecting their potential mates, setting them free and I'm stuck with a cliffhanger. LE SIGH!

GOSH! I'm feeling some serious Olivia Rodrigo revenge songs for Book 3. I hope the ladies will stand up for themselves, they're worth more than some males who can't appreciate them and now that they've gotten their freedom (from slavery), I hope Emeriel and her sister will finally be able to LIVE and BE HAPPY.

OVERALL it's hot, it's angsty and it's got me hooooked! I'm counting down the days until the next book!!!

Grggh: Unfortunately, the dominant aspect of this story remains the sexual and physical violence towards women.
The story is developing further and you just hope that Emeriel, her sister and basically all human women will find a way out of their misery.
Despite the reference to the courtly, aristocratic language of medieval royalty, the language of the story is simple and easy to understand.
And sorry, I can't say the story captivates and enthralls me. Unfortunately, it lacks the necessary details for me, those little descriptions that complete a picture and they are so necessary for me to create a coherent fantasy(world).
I also have to say that the constant sexual coercion/rape is becoming more and more irritating... 😔!
IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
One should be aware that all, let's say erotic scenes, are rape scenes including sodomy. All the sex scenes are violent - without any positive affection or romance.
It should be said, that the erotic language is not particularly well developed and is rather banal and 2 dimensional (well, this may be due to the fact that an animal can only be mounted).
SYNOPSIS:
Emeriel's secret identity as a boy becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. By now, not only some of the other human slaves know, but also one of the Urekai high lords. On top for the generally understanding she is too pretty for a young man, which leads to more and more males wanting to force themselves on 'him' anyway, because a hole is a hole... Even more critical is the fact that contact with the beast (the king) makes her a compatible breeding female for the male urekai, who can smell her several meters away. Aekeira, on the other hand, develops ever stronger feelings for the dismissive and cold third ruler, while Emeriel actually develops a love for the royal beast.
Miraculously, the king manages to return from his beast to his human form.
And now the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm: The 3rd prince expressly forbids Emeriel to have any contact with the king.... But by chance, Emeriel is given the opportunity to go to a festival as a woman. The king sees her and devours her with sexual desire. Bla, bla etc.
End of Book 2: Consumed by grief and guilt, the king is unable to give Emeriel affection. The same goes for the 3rd Lord towards Aekeira, who no longer wants to abuse and brutalize her.
They therefore decide to send the siblings back to their homeland...

ALL IN ALL, I stand by my verdict from the first book - it's readable, but not a work that leaves a big impression on me.
It's short (approx. 230 pages), so I read it in one go with the 1st book.
All 4 books together have 904 pages - so decide for yourself.

The Slave in a Princess Disguise by Kiss Leilani, the second book in the fantasy taboo series, absolutely delivers on all fronts; super spicy, wildly addictive, and filled with characters you can’t help but become obsessed with!

The chemistry between Emerial and King Daemonikai is fire, but what I really appreciated was that the story didn’t solely revolve around them. We got layered plotlines, intriguing dynamics, and a world and lore that just keeps getting deeper. There’s so much more unfolding in this world, and I loved every second of it.

Lord Vladya; wow!! Completely unexpected and I need more!
His storyline is so important in this book, and I wasn’t ready for how deeply it would pull me in. Without spoiling anything, I’ll just say his scenes with Akeira were electric; intense, emotional, unforgettable and HOT! Their dynamic added so much depth to the book and left me wanting more.

I loved Lord Herold and I wish we’d seen his perspective in a few scenes—he’s such a compelling character. There’s clearly so much going on beneath the surface with him, and I’m dying to get inside his head and for him to have his own moment (hopefully in the next book).

And speaking of more, I would’ve loved to see more of Lord Zaiper in this book, especially some spicy moments. He’s a character with so much potential, and I hope we get to explore more of that in the upcoming instalments… I think we definitely will…

I did miss Amie and Livia in this one, and I do hope we see them more in the next book. Alongside other random little spicy scenes and day to day lives.

And that twist at the end? Absolutely loved it! It caught me off guard in the best way and has me very intrigued for what’s to come.
Leilani’s character and story development continue to impress me. I cannot wait to dive into the last two books. Kiss Leilani is killing it with this series!

Whether this book was better or worse than the first one is debatable, but it was undeniably a wild ride from start to finish.

As for the worst parts – the excessive length and detail of the heat sex. I understand that was a very significant moment for the main couple, strengthening their bond like nothing else, but to be frank, all that felt like pure animal sex mixed with tons of porn. It simply became too much for my taste and significantly ruined the story during those chapters – and there were many. I impatiently waited to get over with that section as soon as possible and constantly asked myself why I was still reading this. However, on a positive note, I did appreciate the noticeable decrease in unwanted violent sexual encounters as everything was done more or less willingly, making it feel more like a kink than violence.

But aside from those lengthy heat sex scenes, everything else in the story captivated me, drawing me in deeper and deeper like a thrilling rollercoaster.

A major highlight for me was the king's theory regarding his best friend's situation. It was exactly one of my own theories for his character arc! And I really want to see whether that theory will come to fruition or if one of my other ideas will play out. Either way, I truly wish for his happy ending. He deserves it the most.

Oh, Kiss Leilani, you're putting me through the wringer! Even though the story constantly throws dark and disturbing twists my way, making me second-guess my decision to continue this series, I have to admit – I'm completely enthralled!

Enthralling

I am absolutely enjoying the rollercoaster ride that is this story! I first came across this story when I happened to click on it on a webnovel app. I devoured all of the free chapters until I could go no further, as the app required me to pay an arm and a leg for the story’s continuation. But then, I happened to stumble across the blurb of the first book on Amazon and immediately realized I had to purchase and continue reading. I flew through that first book, loving all of its dark themes, and immediately bought this second book. The tension and steamy scenes between not only Emerial and Daemonikai, but Aekira and Vladya are smoking hot 🔥🔥🔥. Kiss Leilani has woven a tale of lust, love, desire, danger, and intrigue among the backdrop of a world where human women have been subjugated in the brutal aftermath of a war that killed many of the Urekai people. Though I will immediately be going to purchase the third book in the series (not finishing this story is not an option), I did have some issues while reading it. I desperately wanted to give this book 5 stars, and I actually do give it 5 stars for the storyline, action, and dialogue; however, I am a professional proofreader and editor and there were some major typos and omissions of certain words that just irked my soul and would at times take me out of the immersive reading experience. Despite that, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Off to but book #3.

I am not a "omegaverse" reader. This was my first toe dip, and it just confirmed that anything to do with that kind of genre is not for me. If you like that kind of thing, maybe this series is for you... but overall I found it to have: typos, cringe dialogue and was predictable and pacing was off. Just, not written well overall IMO - or whatever the heck "web novel style," that the author stated was their writing style, is just not for me. Words used during spicy scenes just really turned me off - examples being: phallus, core/aching core, manhood, swollen gland, slippery/engorged nub, her womb, presenting, mounting, hungry channel, nether lips, st@b... I just... No. Absolutely not for me.

The Slave in a Princess Disguise (Book 2): Lies/secrets, found friends/allies, loyal family, øbsessive/pøssessive MMCs, scenting/pheromones, alphas, "restored" king, an interesting "3-some", bonds, unexpected/unwanted attractions, bl00d feeding, v¡olence/g0re/tørtûre, attempted SA(s)/ass@ssinstion(s), anger, some spice (most is dub-con or non and some turns willing, but painful. No/stop hardly mean anything in these pages), sl@very, "Good Girl", extreme "heats", kn0tting, extreme jealousy, "Wh0re"/"S|ut"/"Witch", ana|, werewolves and vampires mentioned, plotting, gained freedom, heartbreak, impending madness, undying loyalty/friendship, cliffhanger ending.

Book Review: The Slave in a Princess Disguise (Book 2 of The Beast of Wrath and Madness)

This book is an absolute page-turner. I couldn’t put it down! The emotional depth in the story, especially the pain and strength of the two sisters, really broke me. While both of their love stories are beginning to bloom, true freedom still feels just out of reach. The tension continues to build as secrets threaten their safety, making every chapter feel more intense than the last.

The author has such an incredible imagination. She has a rare gift of prolonging a story without ever making it feel slow or dragging. Every chapter is packed with meaning, development, and suspense. Just like her other series, this one is beautifully written and completely addictive. I’m already looking forward to Book 3!

Pretty good

I saw an ad for this book on Facebook and had to track it down! Finally found on Amazon and so glad I did! It's definitely different from other shifter romance. Couldn't put it down and read it in one day. I find myself waiting patiently for the next book lol. With the oversaturated romance category you should at least give this one a read. You won't be disappointed.

Dark Fantasy that will tangle you in its web

Normally I’d don’t read smutty stories or even fantasy is out my usual wheelhouse. I’m hooked! Unlike a number of smutty romance novels elsewhere this one has a real story! The characters are deep and well thought out. The story complex with multiple levels that drag you in wanting to know what’s next.

Starting on the third book and loving it!

So...

"...his touch would be excruciating for her. He settled for touching her..."

This book has too many contradictions and repetitions. There was very little romance and relationships based on deceit & sex. It wouldn't have been so bad if the scenes made sense.

The women are reduced to battering rams for repressed sex kinks or warm blood bags. Wish there was more of their character.

Captivating and Unique

Hard to put down series. Captivating and heart clenching. Eye saturated kind of book. It's refreshing to read something different than the norm of vamp or werewolf romances. This is a whole new world on its own. Truly thrilling and I can't wait for the next release.

Madness I more ways than one.

This book is amazing. Just the right amount of everything. These characters can be so enfuriating. But then i root for them because i feel their pain and anger and wind up crying with them. I love that there is no competition between the sisters, only love, support, and concern. I love that Daemonikai and Vladya are like brothers.

Princess

It's definitely dark but the MCs aren't irredeemable which kept me reading. The world building is great and the characters well fleshed out. It's great to have an actual plot along with the smut, a lot of this genre ignores the importance of a story to go with the Romance.

Just OK

So many words to say so little. The story could use tightening up. The first book was riddled with grammar errors, missing words, typos, and terrible idioms. So was this one. At least the main characters got to enjoy intimacy for a time, because this book was less 🍇-y than the first one. I won't be reading the others in the series.

I’m happy to say it got better! The writing improved and the whole tone of the book shifted. Am I still annoyed with Vladya and his treatment of Aekeira? Yes. Am I rooting for Emeriel and Aekeira? Yes, I am. And that’s what kept me going. I throughly Daemon’s internal battle and how he’s trying to come back from his feral mindlessness while working through the unknown bond.

Great continuation to a seriously developing story. It just kept pulling me in page after page. I finish this book in one sitting and now I’m waiting patiently for the 19th!!! There’s always a jealous one in the bunch.. Can’t wait for it to be exposed.

Great continuation

Kiss Leilani truly is a gifted writer. I love that her stories aren't about great men but actually very broken ones, and how love hurt but also heals. It's gonna be a long month waiting for the next release.

Interesting story

I thought the pacing in this one was better then the first which got really repetitive (maybe book length). The middle dragged but there is enough going on to keep me interested in the story. That twist at the end will see me heading straight into book 3
