Brides of the Moon Blade Clan #4

Bound to the Orc Guardian

Rate this book
Ooops! That grumpy orc I just met? Forget hello. I stripped him naked!

It’s an accident, I swear. When I wind up in a fantasy world, I see this gorgeous older guy who’s green, and wonder, “What does he look like everywhere?” I don’t realize my new magical healing powers will make it happen!

No regrets. Sturrm’s got muscles for days and one seriously impressive pierced package. The med student in me can’t wait to study his monstrous differences up close. The growly grump isn’t exactly thrilled about his wardrobe malfunction. But no matter how much he scowls, other parts of him clearly like me a lot.

It turns out the big warrior’s on a quest to find magical crystals that will protect humans like me from soul-sucking fae. Our enemies will do anything to stop us. Even with dragons on our side, none of this will be easy.

I’m falling fast, especially when Sturrm sings for me, his resonant baritone showing all the emotion he normally hides. But he’s haunted by a loss in his past. My new healing powers work great on physical injuries, but how do I heal the wound in his heart?

Bound to the Orc Guardian is a steamy fantasy monster romance featuring a grumpy older orc warrior with a wounded soul and a sunshiny witch eager to heal his heart. Welcome to the Moon Blade Clan, where heart-melting romance, toe-curling steam, magic, and adventure combine into stories you’ll devour.

Another sweet entry into the Brides of the Moon Blade Clan series. This time, it’s medical student Selena who finds herself magically transported to Alarria, and guardian orc Sturrm who answers the call of the Moon Goddess to find a human woman left on the stones.

I love how smart and strong Selena is, and how compassionate and caring Sturrm is towards her. They are truly two peas in a pod. Their chemistry is great, and when things finally progress their joining is so sweet.

If you like monster romance with grumpy/sunshine vibes, great banter and chemistry between characters, and an HEA then you will love this!

Another happy ending!

I really liked book 4 of this series. Even though it took me a while to read it, I still truly enjoyed it. Another Orc has found his moon bound bride and they are getting closer and closer in each book to finding a permanent cure for the death sleep.

I really loved how our FMC, Selena was a healer in this book and thought she was really well suited for Sturm. There is a bit of an age gap in this story too but, not anything crazy, like only 10 or so years (I think) and it worked well in my opinion.

"My Selena, my bride. My life was nothing before you came into it. I'd let myself become a hollow shell of a man, knowing little of joy or excitement. I lived for duty alone, yet even that was done out of guilt for past failures instead of freely given with a glad heart." “You uncovered my heart and made me see myself for who I truly am. You gave my life its intended purpose. Loving you is all I ever want and need. For I do, my darling bride. I love you with everything I am."

Happy reading all!

Medical assistant Selena (h) never expected she'd be transported to a dangerous, magical world filled with orcs, dragons, and deadly creatures. But when a mysterious force pulls her from Earth to Alarria, her only hope of survival lies with Sturrm (H), a fierce orc warrior on a mission to retrieve powerful crystals needed to save his people from the curse of deathsleep. As they journey together, facing threats from ogres, soul stealers, and fae creatures, Selena discovers her own hidden powerful healing magical abilities. But Sturrm is hiding something from Selena—the true nature of his connection with her, his moon bound bride. Sturrm is haunted by a tragic past and believes he’s unworthy of love, while Selena’s growing feelings for him leave her conflicted. Love how Selena grow's into her abilities and soothes Sturrm's savage beast to bring him back from the edge. Selena and Sturrm have to learn to trust each other, or risk losing everything—including the love that’s growing between them. Hot and steamy orc-human, grumpy sunshine, fantasy romance, exploring love, magic, danger, trauma, healing, redemption, adventure, and supporting one another in the face of challenges.

My favorite one!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: fated mates,opposites attract
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely loved it! I'm a huge fan of the grumpy sunshine trope and Bound to the Orc Guardian just hit all the right spots. Something about the chemistry between the characters and the heroes internal struggles with guilt and feeling good enough struck a chord with me. I loved how the heroine drew him out of his shell and pursued him ❤. Easily my favorite of the series!

❥Grumpy X Sunshine

Of all the Moon Blade Clan this had to be my favorite! I loved how different this story was from the first few but still included all my favorite elements from this series. This FMC was my favorite so far - she was so positive and excited about her new life and new friends that it just rubbed off on everyone. The MMC was so thoughtful and kind but had hidden himself away after his loss. This story connects and answers a few questions that have come up in previous books and I loved it!

Sturrm is set on the next part of the journey to make a better antidote. right at the start he gets a calling from the moon godess and he's convinces the moon sent bride is nto for him, though his heart and soul know better. Selena finds her healing power rather apt as the first thing she did was strip the big green orc just because her mind was curious.... right?
as the two continue their journey it's clear there is a huge attraction but Sturrm is fighting it and Selena is chasing it.
will these 2 find their HEA and will they succeed to find a missing ingredient?
read to find out and you will not be dissapointed. you'll love this one just as much as the others in this series.

ARC Review

This is the fourth book in the Brides of the Moon Blade Clan series by Krista Luna, and it's my favorite so far! Sturrm is older than Selena and convinced that he's not worthy of her love, that she belongs with someone younger and more full of life. He has a tragic past and feels that he won't ever love again, that he doesn't deserve to love again. Selena shows him just how wrong he is, and she's honestly so perfect for him. She's the sunshine to his grump, so full of joy and light that he can't help but fall head over heels for her. She makes him confront his feelings, which he tries to resist, but her kind nature wins him over.

While the evil fae are up to their old tricks, it seemed to take up less of this book, which I really appreciated. It gave us the opportunity to really get to know and understand Sturrm and to fall for him as much as Selena does. He's an amazing warrior, fierce and protective, but so caring and attentive to Selena's needs. He takes amazing care of her, and I adore him for it.

Selena is kind, loving, and ready to protect and heal in whatever way she can. I really enjoyed watching her make fast friends with everyone and every creature she came across. She didn't struggle with her powers at all, and I think the stories passed down by her family really helped her in that regard. She didn't spend time questioning anything, and she was very confident in her abilities from the beginning.

Sturrm is easily my favorite orc from the series. He's so relatable in the way he closes himself off to avoid getting hurt. I love that he let Selena help him, even as he fought against his feelings for her.

I can't wait to see what's in store for us in book 5!

It was such a fun change of pace to have such a confident and seductive FMC. Selena was sunshiny, compassionate, and rolled with the punches. Poor Sturrm had so much grief and trauma from his past and she helped him process a lot of it. He gave her a safe place that she’d been missing. Dash was all mischievous energy, a counter to all the grumpy unicorns. There were a couple of spots where the magic system confused me and/or seemed inconsistent with previous books.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: mugging (brief), attempted abduction, violence and gore including dismemberment and beheading, nightmares, discussion of parent death, grief, animal/monster attack, poisoning from gas, very low self esteem

The books in this series are so addictive; once you try one, there is no stopping until you've read them all! If you want to be whisked away to a magical land, acquire a cool power, meet the green male of your dreams, experience scorching-hot moments, have adventures with cute animal companions, and have a good laugh on the way to the guaranteed HEA, this series is for you! The addition of baby dragons in this book had me aww-ing and once again desperately googling for a magic necklace to transport me to Faerie :D

I truly love this Author! She delivers swoon worthy males with special equipment and struggles that help the characters grow.

The age gap was hot I’m bias as my hubs is 9 years older. The musical aspect was beautiful and desirable. The fact that she was a med student like me was very relatable. I loved that being the power that was added to this group of brides.

💚 “I am the moon, reflecting her bright sunlight.”
~~~
Selena is absolutely awesome! She’s kind, caring, compassionate and sweet. I couldn’t help but love her sunshiny personality and optimistic attitude. Even more, Selena’s heart is huge and she’s always ready and willing to help others. She also doesn’t back down from challenges and I loved her courage and strength to face the challenges thrown her way. And she’s quite sassy and fierce, too! Selena is a truly wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!
And Sturrm is one absolutely incredible male! He’s huge, strong, fierce, protective and quite… grumpy. And he’s a male of many talents! Even more, this scowling orc warrior is so much more than meets the eye. Because underneath the growly facade, hides a wonderful, kind, thoughtful, considerate and passionate male, who’s loved and lost. Maybe he just needs a certain human woman to show him there’s life beyond the past. Sturrm is such a wonderful and irresistible male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Selena and Sturrm! Sturrm is sent on a mission by the orc king, when he’s summoned by the Moon Goddess and meets a new human witch with incredible, but sometimes quite mischievous, magic. I absolutely adored Selena and Sturrm together! Their chemistry was fantastic right from the start and I loved their banters, teasing and every moment they spent together. Even more, even though quite opposite, their personalities fit so well together. Sturrm and Selena were truly made for each other. I also loved how understanding, protective and supportive they were of each other. And when they finally gave into the undeniable need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot! Oh, those orc warriors are just so swoon-worthy and utterly irresistible! Selena and Sturrm were truly perfect for each other and deserved all the happiness and love in the world!
In addition, the storyline was spectacular! Not only do we get to embark on another adventurous and dangerous mission through Alarria, but we also get to meet so many new awesome characters. And both Dash and Bella had me absolutely cackling with their sassiness and bickering. Add a dash of magic, sprites and gnomes into the mix, and the fun is absolute. And, with everything happening, I was glued to the pages till the very end!
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with adventure, danger, humor, twists, drama, magic, smoking-hot passion and fantastic characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
When med student Selena is portaled to a new world, she develops healing powers and maybe uses them to accidentally strip her rescuer naked. Sturrm is an orc tasked with finding the crystals needed to make an antidote against his people's biggest threat. Hee detours from his quest when the Goddess leads him to Selena, but he knows he would never be given such a blessing. He lost his first love and blames himself. Selena is a bride for a worthy orc. On their quest, aided by friends and allies, Selena tries to ignore Sturrm’s protective and caring nature, as much as he keeps reminding himself she isn't isn't his. Their disconnect on the end goals make for some steamy encounters as he fights his desire, and she tries her darnedest to lure him in. Will the mighty Sturrm give in to his wildest dreams come true? Or will Selena realize he's unworthy of her affection and leave him? Not if she has any say!
This is the grumpy x sunshine trope done right! Selena is a little ball of sunshine goodness, chasing away the dark. Sturrm is seven feet of grouch and wants the world to keep its distance. His battles against his feelings had him so torn up inside. It's a good thing our girl can heal because he needed it, mentally (and physically at times). I loved how he took care of her, even when he thought she wasn't his. When he realized the Goddess intended her as his bride? All bets were off. This series just keeps getting better. I can't wait to see who we meet next!
✨ARC Review/Release Day!✨
I absolutely loved this book! Selena is such a delightful character, beautifully embodying the spirit of “sunshine.” Her journey in adapting to her newfound powers and surroundings is portrayed with such grace. Strong and spicy, she brings a warmth to the story that is truly captivating.
For fans of the previous books, Sturrm’s quest for happiness feels like a long-awaited payoff. His use of music as a means of self-expression moved me to tears at times. I found his self-critical nature incredibly relatable, and I appreciated how Selena guided him toward self-forgiveness and healing.
The addition of Dash and Bella enriched the narrative with their sass and confidence, making the dynamics even more enjoyable. I also loved the return of the gnomes under the mountain; their quirky presence added a fun layer to the story.
Overall, I can't wait to dive into the next installment in this series, and I absolutely adore the new covers!
“I love how you watch me and know what I need, half the time before I even realize I need it. It's been a long time since anyone's taken care of me, and it means the world that you do.”
“You uncovered my heart and made me see myself for who I truly am. You gave my life its intended purpose. Loving you is all I ever want and need. For I do, my darling bride. I love you with everything I am.”
"Bound to the Orc Guardian" by Krista Luna is a delightful blend of steamy romance, humor, and fantasy adventure that delivers on every promise in the blurb. The story pairs a gruff orc warrior, Sturrm, with a sunshiney, curious heroine who’s as daring as she is endearing. The chemistry between them is electric, thanks to Luna's knack for creating scenes that are equal parts humorous and sizzling.
The accidental magical mishap that starts their relationship is a clever twist, giving readers an immediate, laugh-out-loud moment that sets the tone. Sturrm, the brooding orc with a tragic past, is a fantastic contrast to the heroine's unfiltered enthusiasm, and watching his emotional walls crumble as they journey together feels both natural and rewarding. Luna skillfully layers the romance with tension, action, and some surprising emotional depth, particularly as the heroine’s new healing powers reveal deeper vulnerabilities in her stoic love interest.
Fans of monster romance will enjoy the lush world-building, complete with dragons, magical quests, and the ever-present danger from soul-stealing fae. This book is a perfect read for anyone looking for a heartwarming escape with just the right amount of spice and adventure.
Selena and Sturrm story.
Selena is a medical assistant studying to be a practioner. She's transported to Alarria and is saved from an orge by a incredibly handsome orc, Sturrm. Sturrm has had tragedy in his past. He's closed his heart to the possibility of love. He's a grump. Here fuses to acknowledge Selena as him moon bound bride thinking he's to old and unworthy of her. Through his quest to find rare healing crystals, he finds it hard to keep his heart from falling in desperate love with Selena. With the help of gnomes, unicorns/ pookas, and dragons, Sturrm and Selena surge forward on the quest.
I like how the animal fae are sweet and attached to both Selena and Sturrm; kind of like a loyal pet, but these are not pets. They also have lots of fun banter that brings a light feeling to heavy feelings of Selena and Sturrm past tragedies that creep in throughout the story.
Grumpy-sunshine, moon bound/fated mates, adventure, action, danger, whimsical, steamy, and HEA.
Krista Luna brings us great stories with complex characters and loyal animal companions. I love reading her books.
I love all the books in this series but this might be my favorite! Oh, Sturrm! I wanted to give the grump a big hug. His backstory was so sad but Selena was exactly what he needed. Seeing him change and open up and get a happy ending made me happy cry! He was such a good guy he just couldn’t see it.
Selena was perfect for him. She’s a med student who becomes a witch with healing magic in faerie. But what she really wants to heal is Sturrm’s aching heart. She’s sweet but also strong and doesn’t let him turn her away. I really liked that about her. And the spicy times were so spicing! They had so much chemistry my kindle melted 🥵
It’s a funny book too. The way she strips him naked when they meet made me laugh out loud! The banter of the group is hilarious, and Bella the dragon is such a teen! I love Dash, a unicorn who’s full of mischief and a funny smartass.
Sturrm’s life had been empty and sad, and he never let himself feel except when he played music, but Selena changed all of that! They made the best grumpy sunshine couple!
Bound to the Orc Guardian was such a cozy, fast-paced addition to the series! I absolutely loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Sturrm and Selena — they’re easily tied with Branikk and Grace for my favorite couple so far. Selena’s healing magic felt way more practical and impactful (sorry, conjured carnival rides *cough* Grace...), and it made her stand out in a really good way.
The story moves quickly, which kept me hooked the entire time, and the spice is definitely very descriptive, for the whole series, — so heads up if that’s your thing (or if it’s not). I’m also loving how we’re inching closer to uncovering the truth behind the Moon Goddess and why she’s sending these brides in the first place.
Yes, the books stick to a pretty familiar formula when it comes to the battles and relationship beats, but honestly? It works. They’re pure comfort reads at this point, and I’m fully on board. Also... caramelized milk?! Sexy Orc lore continues to surprise and amuse me in the absolute best way.
Our adventure continues in Alarria with an emotionally scarred Sturrm finding his moon bound bride Salena. Included in the cast is a teenage dragon(Bella) and a snarky pooka/unicorn(Dash). During the course of the quest for the special stone in dragon country, Sturrm begins to feel more than guilt and anger. His time spent with Salena makes his questions so many ill conceived notions he had about the past.
Dash is a hoot! There is also a common understanding between the two. They both know what it feels like to feel like an outsider.
Salena is a curious and caring special person. What separates this book from the others is that she readily embraces the idea and world of magic. She has the advantage of the stories of Faerie from her childhood. This seems to aid her in her use of magic because instinctually comes to her.
Action, laughs and romance fill this story.
I received a free copy of this book and I am providing my honest review.
As always, it was a delightful romp through Alarria! This time time we have the grumpiest orc and the most sunshiny human with an age gap! Plus a mischievous unicorn and snarky dragon. And this time the human witch's healing power gives her the ability to make clothing disappear--for examination purposes, of course. It's not her fault she keeps accidentally stripping her strapping orc!!
.
I loved Sturrm and Selena. Sturrm might be grumpy and have a tragedy in his past, but he is an amazing musician and an absolute sweet heart! Selena is a healer, and while she is a highly independent person she loves the way Sturrm takes care of her in this new world. Can Selena make him see he's worthy of her adoration?
.
I'm just so in love with this orc clan and this world. I'm always delighted to be whisked away into Alarria. If you're looking for the sweetest but still spicy Orc books, please check out Brides of the Moonblade Clan!
Sturrm is seen by pretty much everyone as grumpy but I rather I think it is his defense mechanism against the rest of the world. He doesn't have a very high opinion of himself at all, believing he is too old, too unworthy etc to have a moon bride such as Selena. Thing is though his feelings need to go somewhere and they come out musically. You cannot keep everything inside. Selena was a medical student so having her powerful as being a healer is very apt I think. I loved the way that she got Sturrm to see things in a different light and that things didn't have to be that way.
These are such feel good books despite the fact that there is intrigue, action and sadness happening too. There is a lightness to the writing and the characters, even those who are hurt. Don't get me wrong it is not all sunshine, roses and unicorns but there is just a quality to this series which has me reaching for it again and again.
Every time I dive back into the world of the Moon Blade Clan, it feels like coming home—wrapped in a cozy, spicy, and hilarious blanket! 🌙
This latest installment is another wonderfully sweet addition to the series. Selena magically teleports to Allaria, where it's the grumpy yet fierce Orc Sturrm who answers the Moon Goddess’s call to claim his Moon Bound Bride.
Selena is incredibly smart, strong, and downright hilarious. I totally fell in love with her character! She knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it—what she wants is Sturrm!
Meanwhile, Sturrm believes he’s unworthy of Selena and struggles against his instincts to claim this sassy, curvy human. But despite his best efforts, he falls hard and fast for her, and when they finally get together? IT'S SPICY!! 🔥
I can’t wait to read more from this series—Krista Luna has officially become an instant buy author for me! 💖
Gleeful Goblin Review: I adore this author and this series. Whenever I'm in the mood for growly but the sweetest of sweet cinnamon roll orcs I know this series is where it's at. Not to mention there are always snarky sidekicks/magical animal companions which is something I am WEAK for every time. And speaking of things I become a cooked noodle over, let's talk second chances at love for said growly cinnamon rolls! Our MMC Sturrm is in his late 30's and has already loved and lost someone for whom he still grieves and he definitely doesn't think he would be worthy or blessed with a human Moon Bride! But Fate (and this book) have other plans for him in the form of our FMC Selena. Neither of them expect for her wish to study his anatomy (for strictly medical research reasons *cough cough*) to be granted but that's another thing I adore about this series is the wish fulfillment mishaps! This book is a joy and every new addition to the series is a gift to my Comfort Reads list. 5/5 Stars
I love everything about this series! Adventure, danger, smeggsy orcs, magic, funny banter, healing, redemption, heartfelt moments, spice, fantasy world… and did I mention smeggsy orcs! Krista Luna has this way of writing her stories that get you lost in the world she has created. Stuurm and Selena are grumpy and sunshine personified. Sturrm is tormented by his tragic past. The med student side of Selena wants to use her magic to heal his aching heart. But Sturrm has different plans for her. (wink wink) I love the witty banter between everyone. When Selena ‘accidentally’ strips him with her magic to see if he is green ‘everywhere’… I was literally lol’ing at my desk! (the answer is everywhere, btw) Their chemistry was incredible. I love the way Selena soothed the rough edges of this growly orc. Their connection is so sweet and loving.
ugh okay this is so nitpicky and stupid but i was LOVING this and then at the very end when she finally meets the other humans, she hugs ashley and then goes “ashley gives the BEST hugs” after the mention that ashley is plus size and it felt so weird and out of place and actually now that i really think it through it felt so dehumanizing to me bc that has been used for a millennia as the compliment skinny girls put on plus size girls cute tiktoks to make it seem like they’re nice and caring but it’s just SO stupid and underhanded bc just tell the girl she looks nice tf and I looked it up and the authors not plus size so all of it was just so stupid an unnecessary anyways just a rant and had no holding on the story at all the book was good i’m just tired of casual fatphobia thrown into stories that don’t need it especially under the guise of being nice (it’s not nice it’s tiring just leave it at she’s pretty!!!!!)
BOUND TO THE ORC GUARDIAN 👰🏻‍♀️⚔️
What a treat to meet Selena who could be my doppelgänger.
She is a Med student (healer ) I’m a Nurse.
From Miami, and I also live in Miami.
She a Latina from Peruvian parents, I’m Dominican 🇩🇴.
She fueled by cafecito  & cafecito is the only fuel I need.
Selena was my favorite singer growing up.
And loved churro and is a sucker for an older Orc (Man).
Thank you @kristalunaauthor for this great read. I absolutely love seeing someone like me write a beautiful story about growth and finding your home. And someone who can help shoulder life with you by your side.
I loved how Selena knew that Sturrm was what she wanna and didn’t let Sturrms stubbornness and grumpiness deter her. Of course Luna gives us all the piercing, for her pleasure extra appendage and plenty of lubricant for (our) her pleasure 😜. They make the was sensual harmony together 🎸🎤🎵🎶.
I love seeing all the gang of the Moon Blade Clan village and the new character and magical creature. Can’t wait to see what is in store for this magical world.
These books are some of my favorites and this one is no different! Sturrm, we've met before and he's finally getting his own story! Lots has happened in his life with everything centered around a tragedy that he never got over. It affected a lot of different parts of his life and as a result he ended up being a grumpy lonely older Orc. Selena being young, hard working and plowing her way towards her dreams of being a healer ended up in Faerie and gets everything she could ever dream of. However when her and Sturrm come together it takes a lot to break him of his mind set but Selena is sassy and knows when and more importantly how to push Sturrm in just the right way. Their story was sizing, sassy, full of banter, animal friends (whom dare I say is probably my favorite out of the whole series) and more trouble from their enemies. Old allies show up once more and new friends are introduced. That sneak peak at the end was perfection. Loved it!
This one was funny, and honestly, the healing power is OP, imo but I think this is in the realm of "normal" powers bestowed in a fantasy smut lol
I appreciate the author is definitely making the effort to have diverse FMCs and MMCs that complement one another. I think this author is doing a great job of sewing together the overall plot, smut, and a good amount of fantasy silliness and "magic" solutions to keep this series interesting and dynamic while not making it overdone.
As with any "age gap" relationship, the weird fixation on youth was a little ick.
Tbh it was framed more as the potential of the FMC and the MMC being self deprecating about how young she was vs obsessing over her youth because tbh the FMC is (i think) 26-29 based on the guesstimate of the MMCs age (10 yr difference) so not too bad imo.
