“I’m not trying to buy your love. I already have it. You didn’t turn it off in the span of three days. You may be trying to exorcise yourself of it, but you won’t because we’re meant to be together. You’re mine. I love you and I will make this up to you. This is just one of many ways.”

Pearla and Matt are in love but is love really enough... does it matter how they fell in love or when it actually happened, when in the end the result is the same ?!? Well in Pearla's eyes it DOES matter, how can she love a man who came after her under false pretenses, a man who is integral to the group that has caused her so much suffering? In her effort to save face and her heart she leaves Matt trying to move on with her life, after all she's done it once before, what's a second time...
“You can always walk away, but I will always be with you.”

Matt is beside himself, especially after all the details of how he unknowingly was the cause of her demise. Matt knows what he feels for Pearla is unlike he's ever felt and he will move heaven or hell just to get her back; even if it means loosing everything in return. Nothing is worth anything without her in his life...only he may have underestimated how
"You told me a long time ago you ‘live simply’, but I know you love richly. I can live without the fortune, but Perla, I can’t live without you.”

Day by day, hour by hour, Matt keeps his word and lets her know he hasn't given up while trying not to push; giving her what she needs even if she doesn't even know it. But trouble lurks in the most unexpected places and with the twist and turns, be their final undoing or will it be the bind that strengthen their love.

Unbound is the second book in The Pentagon Group, one that is full of surprises, emotion and sexiness. You can feel his need to make things right just as strongly as the hurt she feels for being lied too; and while there is a vulnerability when it comes to one another, there is strength where it counts. The storyline may seem simple, but its anything but, it drew me in needing to know where their story is headed. While the story continues on to the third and final installment, one can only hope that the wrongs will be made right and we finish off with the happily ever after Pearla deserves.

“I love you, beautiful.”

In Unbound we started off where we left off in Rebound. Perla found out about Matt's true intention of being in a "relationship". She's hurt, broken, and embarrassed.

“I’m hurt. No, I’m destroyed. I thought a man really wanted me for me, desired me for me, and I felt I finally had a potential life partner. It was all a fucking lie.”

Matt is trying everything in his powers to show Perla that even though he was with her for a benefit he truly did love her to the pointe that she became life to him.

“My dream was her—Perla"

Now Matt made it his mission to bring Perla back. He doesn't care about money, jobs, or anything, after all you can't live without oxygen..right? That was what Perla meant to Matt, he needed her just like he needs air into his lungs to keep him living.

“Matt proved he loved me. He sacrificed everything to bring me back.”

What I loved about this book is that Perla didn't forgive Matt that fast. What he did was unacceptable. It wasn't a simple "I'm sorry babe?" and then she spread her legs for him.

Every time when they are this ( - ) close to moving forward there's a big BAM! and there's a new problem happening. I have to say all of the "surprises" in this book surprised me. I'm a really easy person who always knows what might happen but damn...this book always get me and I loved that.

This book was so good! I just love Perla and Matt!! I think I just fell in love with Matt even more in this book!! And Perla would have to be one of my favorite book heroines. She is so strong and I really loved how she stuck to her guns!!
Rosemary Rey you are just pure genius! Just when I think all is going well, BAM!! Out of nowhere comes a bombshell! I love how everything is cleverly tied in, but slowly revealed keeping the suspense!!
This book is brilliant and I seriously cannot wait for the next book!!

I didn't like this book as much as the first. I found myself having a really hard time with the plot. I wasn't buying it, I wasn't liking it, and I wasn't able to swallow it.

.... SPOILER ALERT .... there are spoilers in here

First,
Matt did something I don't see as forgivable. I think what he did was totally unacceptable and I don't see how everyone was so instantly able to put aside how fucking WRONG the 'hero's' actions were and to encourage her to get back together with and forgive him, let alone marry him!! WTF??! It certainly helped (a LITTLE) to hear it from Matt's POV, (in fact, I preferred his to hers!) but it still didn't justify or excuse him!

Secondly,
all through the book the heroine was whining about how the Pentagon boys so royally fucked her over... um, hello, her ex sister-in-law committed suicide over what they did!!! Now, granted, as far as I'm concerned, that girl deserved what she got, but still, to whine about her loss when someone else died over it seemed lame. And because she so instantly rolls over and takes what they give her, I find it really hard to feel empathetic towards her.

For example: That debt she took on made me wanna bitch smack her. It just seemed like she was too quick to take it on, and too stupid about it. - Which reminds me of a big sticking point in book one... at the friend's wedding when the ex comes up to talk to her... (what the fuck is he doing coming up to chat with her for in the first place), and afterwards the book builds it up for a big scene (saying stuff like the ex can't handle seeing her with another man and is likely to make a scene) and then nothing at all happens, nothing is addressed. He just disappears! So we're expecting something, and it more than fizzles, it just ceases to exist.

Thirdly,
I wasn't impressed with her security detail, seems that a REAL professional security detail would have been able to handle BOTH situations better. The first, that seemed like a rookie solution, and the second, that just seemed unlikely. Security isn't likely going to say, 'aw well, she's going somewhere we think she'll be safe' and leave it at that! Someone should have been watching her! Well, if they are a good security team that is!

Fourthly,
the plot (and I realize it's not been fully revealed yet) was just too wtf-ish, it just didn't make any real sense. And it wasn't consistent, at one point that love-able Matt (dripping sarcasm), who had put security on Perla because, as he said, he knows what these guys (from the Pentagon Group) are capable of (and it's life threatening), and yet the author continually throws in things to make them all look like saints, how they are loyal and generous and kind. HUH? How does that even make sense? It's not consistent, how can they all be capable of hideous things, like killing her, and also so 'endearing'? It just made no sense.

.... End of SPOILERS ....

So, yeah, the plot didn't work for me at all. The seemingly inconsistency of characters' traits and personalities didn't make sense to me. And I just was pretty disgusted by the lot of them!

I did like her life changes though! That was fun to read about!! I liked the day to day living the author narrates. I like feeling like I'm there. So, I liked the subplot. Maybe it's because I was a BIG Secret of My Success fan! hehehe.

But all that said, I still thought the book well written, and I didn't see (or notice anyway) any typos and grammatical errors. That is sooooo rare!! For that alone I was tempted to give 4 stars!! I HATE blaring errors, you know the kind that if anyone had actually looked at the words they were reading they'd have seen! Basic editing!! Well, like I said, this book had it! I didn't glitch over anything, so THAT in itself is worth the cost of the book. And I like the author's writing style. I like how kind of slow and steady it is. Granted, I didn't find it to be great for the sex scenes as they tended to bore me, but I don't really care for them even when they are well written.

All in all, I will be reading book 3! Iz got to know how it ends!! However, I'm not too sure if I'd read the other books in the Pentagon Group, I was pretty disgusted by all of them and am not too keen to be won over. I'd rather just hate them all and move on! hehehe.

WOW, can I just say WOW!!! I was really smitten with the first book but this second one really took my breath away.

Okay, so this book picks up exactly where Rebound left off. Dr. Keene and Perla just aren't working out. There seems to be too many obstacles in the way of them from being happy together. Dr. Keene has made Perla a ludicrous offer in order to stay with him, he's basically forcing her to be with him because that's just how much he loves her. Perla is planning on accepting his offer but something unexpected happens, Brady, Matt's friend and business partner has blackmailed Perla and now Perla can't accept Matt's offer. I totally love how in control Perla is and she can actually handle being around Matt even though it's killing her to see him every time and continue pushing him away, without wanting to but having to.

But Perla is not some stupid woman, she is a very smart and talented woman and she knows how to come back and throw it back at Brady. She loaths Matt's friends for what they all have done to her.

I love Perla, god is she a strong woman and I love how she can keep her calm and she's so smart. She totally has Matt by the balls (ha!) and he deserves it for what he did to her.

This series is now one of my favorites that I've read this year. I am so happy to have come across Rosemary Rey because this is just such an awesome series. There is so much going on that it will keep you on your toes.

Lots of angst, mystery, deceit, lies and of course, love -- I mean, what more can you ask for in a book right!!

Did I mention that I have a new flavor of the month -- oh yeah, that would be Dr. Matt Keene. He's just so freaking HOT and I love how he can be so docile and so alpha at the same time, that's just a huge turn on!!

Again, another 5 stars for me with this book. I am anxious to read the third book now, hurry Rosemary, hurry I want to continue reading the conclusion to this wonderful series <3

We begin book 2 with Perla still reeling from the revelations in Rebound and coming to terms with the fact that there was much more to her whirlwind romance with Dr. Mathias Keene than she originally thought. Matt's betrayal and duplicitousness has her scrambling to regain her footing and has her seeing recent events in her life in an entirely different light.

The danger and suspense quotient ramps up a notch in "Unbound" and although some of Perla's actions were a bit frustrating, she manages to get the upper hand and turn the tables in a situation created by The Pentagon Group. It is quickly evident that there are few people Perla can trust and everyone seems to have ulterior motives. Perla really shakes things up, and despite her own insecurities, manages to put on a strong front against enemies both seen and hidden.

About 60% of the way into this book we peel back yet another layer of deception as the twists and turns in this story continue to reveal even further betrayals, secret desires and long forgotten connections.

The journey to the 60% point in this book was a bumpy one, similar to the meandering journey the reader is taken on in Rebound. It has a little bit of everything and at times seemed to be suffering from a genre identity-crisis, but again I found the revelations/twists interesting enough to make the journey worthwhile.

Book 2 ends with another major cliffhanger, so be prepared!

I personally hope that Matt gets to play the hero in book 3, (Bound expected to be released February 28, 2015), as a way to redeem himself for past bad deeds and an opportunity for Perla and Matt to have their HEA.

So book 2 Unbound picks up right where Rebound finished off. Matt will not let up on Perla and he is trying to redeem himself and get her back. He loves her so much. The things he does to get her back amazing. Perla tries to mend her broken heart and move on with her life but Matt just wont let up. No way is he giving up on her. They love each other madly Perla being a bit too stubborn at times.
I loved the dual Pov from Matt and Paula it was good to get inside Matts head what he was thinking.
Perla again comes through a strong, intelligent powerful woman. Great how she stood up to those Pentagon men.
So much action, drama, intrigue, mystery, blackmail, sex and mayhem a real rollercoaster ride. Another cliffy and I really hope not too long to wait for book 3.
Who the hell was on those plane steps????? Write super quick Rosemary please!!!

Oh my god, oh my god!!!!!!! I need the third book right now!!!! If you thought the first book was good you HAVE to read this one!!!! The story is getting better and better!!! We continue where we left of in Perla and Matt's relationship, but with a complete reverse of power and with a dose of steroids!!! Thrilling, very interesting and really creative, the twists will make you feel you're on a roller coaster and the plot, which is fantastic and unraveling slowly, will give you goose bumps!!!! I can't wait to see what happens!!!!! The heat factor is still red hot and will continue to make you melt! This book is amazing and addictive, i read it in a day and loved every second of it.... Ooooh Matt... you really had screwed up and I wasn't quite ready to forgive you yet. I was ready to throw my kindle about 20% in because of Matt's "grand gesture," that let him off the hook for his behavior way too easily, and seriously irritated me. All his grand gesture did for me was reward him. He'd have ended up with it all; his business, practice, and Perla on the terms HE wanted. I was tired of Matt's terms and what Matt wanted. I needed it to be Perla's terms and what Perla wanted.

Yes he pampers her and takes good care of her, but he wasn't letting her fully be "her". I was cheering (almost literally) when Perla switched it all up and shocked EVERYONE, (even me) by not signing her life away on the dotted line. Yes, I totally know Matt loves her and was sorry, but he deserved more than a week's punishment for his lies. Plus I really loved when Perla let all the MEN in the novel know she wasn't one to be f**ked with. It was about time! One of my favorite lines by Perla to Matt: "You have Pentagon, maybe you can find a way to f**k it much like you did me." Oh yeah, he deserved that. I believe Matt did fall in love with her but he did originally set out to lie, manipulate and use Perla for corporate espionge, and the Pentagon group seems rife with this. This group of uber-macho, alpha men who seem to think they can do what they want to advance their business needed a dressing down to reality that Perla gave them. "They never had any intention for a woman to come in and start throwing her weight around in a company they've been building since they were teenagers..." This attitude was prevalent through all of Pentagon and I LOVED watched Perla in her confident, smart way smash through it while being totally a hot, desirable woman. I think Matt, but most of all Perla, needed to see herself in this way. So I'm so glad they didn't get together as Matt first tried to force.

The way Perla went at them and not only took control of own life, and really asserted her self-respect, but she also took down a room full of men's egos who needed it. I was cheering for and how she stood up to them AND got her demands out of them. It was well deserved on her part after what Pentagon had done to her, before she met Matt even.

I liked this book even more than the first one because it had a lot going on in it with all kinds of twists and turns that I didn't see coming nor did I see where the ending cliffhanger was going. Well-done by this author in weaving it and making me HAVE to download the next book and read the first chapter so I could answer the question of WHO the woman was. Glad it's already written I would have hated to wait. Can't wait to finish off this twisting adventure of Matt and Perla's.

Hi ForeverBookers,

I’ve just finished my reread of “Unbound” by Rosemary Rey, book 2 in the Rebound trilogy and I liked it!

3 Stars!

The readathons I read “Unbound” for are:

The OWLS Magical Readathon - This readathon finished at the end of April but I think that Professor Flitwick would be fine with me taking an extra day to finish my charms exam, as I had bad headaches last month. I was reading “Unbound” for Charms because it’s an adult romance, which for me counts as an adult work. That means, I’ve passed my Writer/Journalism OWLS and I’ve got my Charms OWL too. How have your OWLS gone, if you took part? Let me know below.

The Spring-a-thon - I read “Unbound” for the challenge of a book with friendship/family because Perla friends are really there for her in the book to help her through her struggles.

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2019 - A book you think should be turned into a movie - I love romance in everything I consume so I'd love to see this whole series as a movie.

“Unbound” directly follows the events of Rebound, book 1 so if you haven’t read that first, I suggest doing so, as you won’t understand what’s going on otherwise and you’ll be spoiled for events in book 1.

We’re still following Perla, our main character from “Rebound” but in “Unbound” she goes through a LOT of emotions. Where Rebound was very sex heavy, “Unbound” isn’t. Perla and Matt have sex probably two or three times because they’re going through struggles as a couple, as the title “Unbound” suggests. Why are they going through hard times? You’ll need to read “Rebound” and then “Unbound” to find out.

We do get chapters from Perla and Matt’s perspective in “Unbound.” I enjoyed reading from Matt’s perspective as well as Perla’s as it gave us both halves of the story, which Rebound didn’t so much as it was mainly from Perla’s point of view. Here, we get to see how sorry Matt is for what he did in Rebound, as well as Matt’s views about events in “Rebound” and “Unbound.”

NOTE: There are still sex scenes within “Unbound,” though not as many, like I said above, and negative or depressive talk so if you’re uncomfortable reading any of that maybe don’t pick this up, even though it is the second book in a trilogy so if you want to continue the Rebound story you’ll need to read this to get all the information you need, especially as Unbound ends on a cliffhanger. Also the erotic scenes make this another adult book.

I don’t want to spoil too much of the plot of this book, as it’s a sequel with a few surprises that I didn’t see coming the first time I read it, either so the spoiler section won’t be too long.

I will say that this sequel didn’t really get going until about 40% through the story so there’s a long build up to events.

Spoilers Below...

“Anything’s possible, but how can I trust a love which began in such a deceptive manner. I will always look at him and think it was about the money.”

This is Perla talking to her best friend, Carson, a side character, about her and Matt’s breakup. Matt quite literally became Perla’s rebound in book 1, after her ex divorced her months before. However, for most of “Unbound,” she believes that Matt used her to get money from her to pay for Pentagon’s (his company’s) finances. He and his friends took something very dear to Perla in Rebound and that’s what started this distrust of him and of Pentagon for her. Carson is asking her if it’s possible that she’s been a little too angry here, and if there’s a possible way that she and Matt can find their way back to each other? Can they? You’ll need to read to find out.

“the Pentagon shares, which Matt signed over to me in contemplation of our marriage.”

Brady, the antagonist in this book wants the shares of Pentagon to be solely his. He doesn’t care about Perla and Matt’s relationship. He’s a greedy character, only out for what he can get. Matt gives Perla his shares in Pentagon first as a wager in their marriage, then in a hope that it will get them back on track. Does it or does it just cause even more drama? You’ll have to read to find out.

“The only business I maintained separately from Pentagon was my medical practice, which was lucrative on its own.”

is an example of the business talk. This is a part from Matt’s perspective. I didn’t hate these parts but I’m a romance lover, which you’ll know if you’ve read any of my other reviews, meaning that I find things with limited romance kind of boring. Matt is summing up what’s happened to him and Perla here and why they’re not together anymore. In Rebound Matt’s lines were romantic and sexy but here they’re not, as he thinks he’s lost Perla. Some of his lines towards the end are more romantic but for the most part it’s more about his business with Pentagon, wanting and trying to regain his shares than the romance.

There were shocks that I completely forgot about the first time I read “Unbound.” One of which being Brady and his relationship to Perla. I won’t spoil more but it’s good. Also there’s a shady character that we don’t know the intentions of, who is in Rebound too. This goes over into book 3 however, so I don’t want to go more into that here. I will do so in my “Bound” review in a few months time.

I can remember ONE thing about “Bound,” book 3. It’s my guilty pleasure to read about in books so I’ll let you know what it is when I review it. I never finished it before because I was busy with studying, I think so I can finish it in a few months. I’m REALLY looking forward to it. I’m not reading this series together because I don’t want it to rush by as series, especially trilogies, as this is and duologies tend to do with me.

All in all then, I enjoyed “Unbound.” It was a little slow in places, where the business stuff was going on and the romance wasn’t quite as evident as in “Rebound” but it was still good. I’m therefore giving it 3 stars!

I give this a 5 out of 5 Suspense filled stars.

Ok I have to state on thing here and that is who. Who would do this to Perla?

Perla and Matt hit a rough patch. She found out a secret that Matt had been keeping. That is with help she found out about a secret. When Shi confronts Matt about 2hat she 2as given and the researched, he didn't really have much to say. She left him but he couldn't stay away. He had come up with a plan to get Perla back. So he thought.

Matt had given Perla a gift that he thought would not backfire on him but it did. It also put her life in danger. When she didn't follow what the plan was suppose to be either by Matt or now Brady, she had unintentionally put her life in danger. Even with the security in place some how she was still able to be not avoid her life being threatened. The question is who would want to hurt her and why? What had Perla done?

5 Stars

Wow, I loved this book. It starts where book one left off. I still love these characters Perla and Matt. They are still in love but can they make a relationship work after all the lies and secrets. They each take drastic measures in the name of love but is it enough?

This book was full of twist and turns, mystery and suspense. This one kept me on the edge if my seat. I couldn't put the book down, I read this book in one day because I couldn't stand to wait to see what happens. Just when you think you have it figured out and what is going to happen, it goes in a different direction. Ms. Rey, you really know how to write a cliffhanger. I am anxiously waiting for book three, I need to know what happens.

I give it a 5 star

I enjoyed this book better then first one. It leaves off where the other Rone finished. Perla starts with trying to cope with what she found out and move on but Matt decides to give her everything he owns unless she marries him.

We find out why Brady is the way he is and never expected it to be what it was and then there's Eric and when you thought you kind of figured everything out its not anything like you thought. This book leaves you with another cliffhanger but won't be disappointed with the story.

Can't wait to read the rest of Matt and Perla's story and hopefully get their happily ever after.

I was gifted a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

WOW HOLY WOW I just finish reading this book, and I love it, LOVE IT, I cat believe the ending, O.M.G. I read the fist book REBOUN and love it, but I have to say that I Love these one even more, this book had me seating at the edge of my seat, I couldn't put the book down, just cause I wanted to know what was gone happened next, I just love it and cant wait for the next book, I am gone tried to keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story of Matt and Perla continue, we get to read from Matt point of view, and we get to read how much he really love Perla, and how he will tried everything and anything just to win her back. We get to find out a little about what part Eric play in this story, we also get to uncover few more secrets, and why Brady is the way he is.

The story begging right where Rebound left off, With Matt standing in his apartment thinking about Perla, and how much he already missed her, and the only person that he could call and break down is with Zipper, while he relied everything that happened with Perla to Zipper, Perla is on her way to her best friend house Carson, she tell him everything that she discover, and she cant believe how she was so happy in love one minute and the next her world come crashing down, can Perla and Matt find their way back to each other, would their love be stronger.

I love how Perla attitude changes from the first book to this one. I love it how her Dominican side come out which I call it her Dominican Attitude, when she gets mad and how she took control of everything that was thrown her way, I love how Matt said that he was never gone let her go, and that she needed to deal with it, love it how he when after what he wanted, love how he protect Perla, and love it more how you could see how much they love each other.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, I still cant believe the ending, now I cant wait for the next book, I hope it come out soon, Author Rosemary Rey THANK YOU one again for this AWESOME CHARACCTERS AND THIS AMAZING SERIES LOVE IT.

The twists, the turns, the things you thought you knew......Forget all of that, and sit back and read this intense ride.

Im in awe of how crazy things seem to go down in this books. I fell in love with everything about book one and my heart was broke at the end for both Matt and Perla. So I found book two and attacked it like a crazy woman who needed a fix. Could I have waited for book two? NOPE, I was left hanging and I needed answers! This book...it was a wild crazy ride.

Perla is still strong and independent and I loved her. I did however wonder at sometimes why she did things the way she did, but it all came together. (I'm guilty of finishing this book in one day. I devoured it.)

Matt, what the heck were you thinking? I mean you were all romantic, sweet, HOT, an swoony in book one and then you went and did THAT.... He is still on my top ten BBF list though, and he was still swoony, HOT and steamy in this book.

There was tension between them after what was revealed at the end of book one. There is so much more that is revealed in this book and several times I had to scrape my chin up off the floor because I was like "whaaaa?". But when Perla and Matt were together things were perfect and I love them both they are rather perfect for one another.

The writing again was great, the story line was easy to follow and so intense. Rosemary does a great job of spinning this story into one big crazy web of mystery. I can't wait for book three to be released, I need to know who the woman was at the end of the book. Until then I will wait a little impatiently, or maybe I'll re-read book one and this one again to get my fix of Matt.

Finally finished the second instalment in The Pentagon series and seriously I'm longing for more after the cliffhanger. I enjoyed book 1 but in my opinion book 2 offers so much more to the reader. There's so many developments you'll be gripped till the end.

Unbound is the aftermath of Matt's deception, and Perla's way forward in trying to deal with the revelations that are now known. Matt's aware that the decisions he made have now lost him Perla but that still doesn't stop him from fighting with everything in his power to hold on to her in any means possible, knowing she holds his heart, that’s a fact he can't deny.

Perla is left heartbroken. She put her faith and trust in Matt, falling in love as a result, only to discover everything she believed and saw in him ended up being a sham. We watch Perla's world crumble around her. Her inner strength being stripped, not leaving a trait of the strong woman that she is.

After nursing a broken heart she realises life goes on, and starts to slowly continue on, determined never to allow another man to hurt her ever again. From here we see the plot thicken in this amazing story. A path forming with many twists & turns and revelations that take the reader on a surprising journey.

The Pentagon Group thought Perla was a easy target when they first set the wheels in motion with their devious plan, but even them never anticipated the events that would unfold from their actions. Sit back and watch the intriguing plot unravel, in a captivating read that will hold your attention till the very end, leaving you yearning for more. There's nothing like a woman scorned, and after crossing Perla, the Pentagon Group are about to find this out for themselves.

Unbound is the second book in The Pentagon Group series by Rosemary Rey. This book is part of series and should be read in order for the best understanding of the characters and the overall plot.

Perla Mercurio is heartbroken at the end of the first book. She now tries to refocus herself and her life to stay away from Matt however, Matt keeps turning up and calling. When Matt tries to bribe her to restart their relationship, Perla is faced with a choice that could hurt Matt. It’s also apparent that she will never be able to leave the man who broke her heart or the men of the Pentagon Group behind

Dr. Mathias Keene or Matt as he is known had his world blow up in his face. While he attempted to pursue Perla under false pretenses, he never expected to fall in love with her. Now that he has, he will stop at nothing to win her back. Matt begins to find out that there is more going on that he had no idea about.

The connection between Mathias and Perla is intense. After Perla and Matt’s relationship blew up in their faces, they both still want each other and are willing to attempt to make it work. They biggest issue they have now and in the future is the lack of trust. The sex scenes were blistering.

I found this book well written with unique plot. The main characters and the secondary characters are fascinating and realistic. This book had numerous twits and turns that kept me hooked until the very end. Overall, this was a magnificent book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I was given a free copy of Unbound by the author in exchange for an honest review. I can honestly say that I am totally in love with this series so far!! If I could, I would give more than 5 stars.

I read Rebound first, which was focused on Perla and Matt’s relationship. Unbound, is mostly about Perla reclaiming her life, protecting herself and the ones she loves, and trying to move on all the while, Matt is trying to win back Perla, the love of his life and trying to keep her safe. There were some interesting twists and turns throughout the story and, of course, a nice little cliffhanger! I love Perla! I love how strong and determined she is; however, there were times I still wanted to shake her and say “what were you thinking!!”

The book is written primarily in first person POV of Perla, but there are some parts that are in the first person POV of Matt, which I enjoyed reading because you can feel his desperation and his love of Perla! This series is not a standalone and you need to read it in order. For me, it was a fast read because I didn’t want to put it down. The first book, Rebound, has a lot of sex scenes in it, but this one not as much.

Rosemary Rey has quickly become one of my favorite authors! I look forward to reading the third installment of this series and any other books that she will be publishing. Thank you Rosemary for giving me this book to read!

Review for Unbound (The Pentagon Group #2) by Rosemary Rey

4 ½ out of 5 stars

Unbound is the continuation of The Pentagon Group, book #2. It continues right where book 1 left off.

Perla Mercurio is left stunned by the revelations of who Matt Keene really is. She is absolutely devastated. Matt was not who she thought he really was.

Matt was involved indirectly and directly in the unfortunate events of Perla’s life. He did not intentionally mean to hurt her. She is the love of his life, and no matter what, he is going to fight to get her back.

I really love this series. I think it is a bit too long. Sometimes things were repeated and there was just a little too much detail in some aspects of the story.

I was also very disappointed in Perla. She constantly claimed she was never after money, but as soon as she had the chance, she took it and had no problem spending it. I agree that Pentagon owed her but I feel she took advantage of the situation, even if she thought she was protecting Matt.

I still really love Matt. Yes what he did was wrong, but as soon as he saw how much hurt he caused, he really tried to make it better.

Rosemary Rey did a fantastic job of the plot with this book. I loved how she had Matt deal with the situation and I really enjoyed his POV. She also hooked me now to read book 3 with the sudden turn of events and surprise drama she added in.

I definitely enjoyed this book and cannot wait for book 3. This series is a must read!

Unbound was a great followup book to Rebound. Perla is absolutely beside herself at the beginning of this book, she doesn't know what to think of what Matt was a part of and how he could destroy her life and her future with his business partners. Matt is horrified to see how badly he has hurt Perla, and he is so in love with her and terrified he is going to lose her.

The emotions and the love these two characters feel for each other is heart breaking when you realize the odds they have to overcome to be one again. The rest of the book flips between the 2 different view points and what happens with each leading character.

Perla is portrayed as a strong dominant business woman, she is able to pull this off and do a wonderful job in her new found position. Matt seemed proud of her ideas and the way she was able to take on the job and to contribute to his company. Matt shows his love repeatedly to Perla and I got a little tired of her feeling sorry for herself and her not opening up to him sooner about what had happened with Brady and his threat.

All in all I enjoyed this book and the way this new author writes, I especially like the way she is able to sum up what has transpired and to bring it all together for the reader. I see great things in the future for this blossoming new author.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Book 2 did not disappoint! While the major drawback of Book 1 was the slow build up and lack of intrigue and plot development until the latter part of the story, this installment was equally balanced throughout with plenty of surprising twists which added a lot of meat and context to the story. The pacing picked up and dual POVs was a great editorial choice. This book will have you closely following sequence of events and has a huge cliffie at the end. At times, the plot seemed to almost be over developed, bit hard to follow, but the creativity and originality outweighed that for me.

Only downside, which doesn't take away from my rating, is that the H/h characters don't spend as much time together in this book. The focus is really on Perla gaining her independence, building her career, and navigating the corporate world of Pentagon and it's owners. It's only until the last 25% of so of the book that Matt returns, but when he does love the sexual tension and what I liked about Book 1 - steaminess, chemistry, etc. is back in force. Because I understand the value of Perla's self-growth, I was able to come to terms with their relationship taking somewhat of a backseat in this installment. Looking forward to all the pieces coming together in book 3!

**Read the ARC**

I like the first book “Rebound” as it has a twist that I never expected and I have expectations for the second book. Just like how I felt in the first book, it took me several chapters before I got into the story. I like on how it started with Matt’s POV.

All I know is that I like the story. I like how you twist a twist and those little surprises that I never expected. I hope to see you write more books and I cannot wait for the third book!

^^

From a fan.

More reviews like this on The Legilimency

This book continues the story of Perla and Matt from Rebound.
I loved that Rosemary Rey decided to write with two points of view. I always like to know what's going through the head of both characters.
I really think that if Perla and Matt just talked they could solve things. If they just told the truth to each other, instead of protecting the other, they wouldn't be in this place.
I knew Brady was creepy from the beginning - Matt's friends were all a bit shady but Brady surpassed them all.
I'm in love with Carson and Turner. They are a great couple and act like they are Perla's brothers.
Much like in Rebound, I can't wait to read the next book in this trilogy, so I'm starting right away.
Thank god I started reading this trilogy after all the books were out.
I think I wouldn't have been able to handle the cliffhanger in the end of this book.

Talk about a breathtaking adventure!!!!
This book was...WOW!!! It really threw me off guard!Soo much happening I thought I would faint from the excitement! Amazing story...the whole plot surprised & shocked me!"Unbound" is so action packed. When Perla's mother told her that " You're not given more than you can handle" she definately did not expect the turn out of this book!Perla had a deep seeded animosity over what Matt and his friends did to her and swore that she would find justice through all the power that came to her hands. Both Matt and Perla were failing at being apart but were unsure of how to make their love actually work and only finding eachother during a vulnerable moment. But when two people in love are able to put their differences aside, they learn to talk to eachother, find a solution & make teir relationship tick.Only by revealing the truth did they decide that they were better off together than apart. This book had me hanging on the edge until the very last page...can't wait for the final book to be published...soo exciting!!!Yeah, Rosemary Rey, you so deserve the 5 stars you are getting from me!!!
