August the 18th

Rate this book
Everyone remembers the killers. No one remembers the victims. August the 18th stands to change all that.

Comprised of ex-military and off-duty officers who have lost all faith in the constitution, every man of August the 18th has lost a loved one to the fangs of the Pierce Syndicate. With the cutthroat Eliza Christie serving as commander, August the 18th finally takes center stage to cause disruption and destruction in the intricate world of organized crime. This of course, starts with raiding a notorious casino, exposing a corrupt superintendent and rescuing a political prisoner from a Haitian hit squad.

My name is Rock Kitaro and I’m an up and coming novelist, screenwriter and all around good-natured (often times cerebral) philosopher. Right now, I’m on a journey to publish my first novel, “The Three Kings of Ybor”. But until you see it on your shelves, I’ve decided to upload and share some of my other entertaining stories.

To be up front, I’ll go ahead and tell you that with my stories, I curse and can sometimes be choreographic with my fight scenes. Following the Byronic Hero that I learned about in film school, all of my main characters are troubled individuals. They are sophisticated, arrogant, seductive, disrespectful of authority, self-destructive and struggle with a sense of integrity, what’s right or wrong. In particular, I wrote “The King of Ybor” because I wanted to show the world that the difference between a hero and a villain really depends on the audience’s preference and social morals that lies within.

Eliza Christie is a far cry from your stereotypical heroine. Spiteful, vindictive, quick to resort to violence and will easily backhand the slightest form of insubordination.

She's a hypocrite. She knows it and doesn't care. Those who follow her fully acknowledge that her desire for vengeance is selfish and childish. Yet they follow her down a path of blood because they've lost faith in patience. They've lost faith in empty promises and groundless declarations. If death and destruction is what it takes to pave the way for change for better or worst...August the 18th will be right there on the front lines showing the world how it should be done.
