Jacen Ryker is a smuggler, a scoundrel, and completely screwed. His ship’s gone, his escape pod’s hijacked, and now he’s stuck on a ship full of genetically-engineered women who’ve never met a man before.
To make things worse, they’re lost in an uncharted galaxy with no map, no support, and no clue how to get home.
But surviving the unknown might be easier than surviving them.
The Trouble with Perfect Women is a fast-paced sci-fi romp loaded with explosive action, sharp banter, steamy tension, and a dangerously sexy crew of clone women who are a lot more than Jacen bargained for.
Definitely needs an editor to go over the writing. Multiple inconsistentsies throughout the novel happen. One such instance is when the MC gets out of a dome fully naked in front of Echo team. The MC harps on about how embaressed he is about the situation only for two paragraphs later he suddenly has not only clothes but for power armor on like the scene that spanned 5 pages didn't happen.
Other continuity errors happen such as Minerva stating she retrieved a seen sample from the MC to use for testing. Yet multiple times throughout the story the head Medic and scientist Artemis says that she needs a sample to test as they hadn't gotten one yet.
Multiple personality shifts and changes that are jarring amongst other things such as Faye stating she loves him in the beginning of the book along with multiple instances of flirting and jealously throughout said book. Yet Faye states she's lesbian and that the entire time it was teasing despite evidence to the contrary.
The book is saved by the premise, idea, and variety of characters you get. It desperately needs at least two editors to comb through and not just look for grammar errors but continuity errors. It also suffers from not having more than one point of view to flesh out the story.
Overall i really enjoyed this first installment. A plot set up that could have just been token for the smut factor, but was actually thought out. There is some suspension of disbelief, the MC getting clearance rather quickly for instance, but there was a lot of positive.
I do like that a lot of the characters have their own personalities. Faye us somewhat vexing, hiding her true feelings.
The only big negative I have is the need for an editor. A plethora of sentence fragments, asking with some typos, and at one point the wrong description of someone kept taking me out of the groove that would start to form.
The random end to the book was something too. But overall I'll try the next book as it enjoyed it.
At first I really liked the book. It had a great premise and I was simply hooked. That was until I got to the part When that happened it just kind of killed all enjoyment I had for the book and I really do not understand the decision to do that.
I can't wait for the second book from this new author. The only gripes I have are the sudden pov shifts and the overuse of analogies such as (Her voice punched me like i owed her money). Otherwise this is a lore rich world and I can't wait to see where this series goes.
I have really enjoyed reading this book. I love the characters and found the back story great, I enjoyed the characters in all there quirky moments while the lead is slowly dying of embarrassing and auspicious events. I look forward to the next book. Great job
Fair read, nothing particularly outstanding in the book but the story line is all right for a couple instances, but stretching it beyond a trilogy is wrong.
