‘Robots pensantes’ (1976) completa el original ‘Nouvelles de l’anti-monde’ (1962), del escritor de origen francés George Langelaan, que la editorial Caralt separó en este y en ‘Relatos del antimundo’. Estos son los siete relatos incluidos:
Robots pensantes. (****) Lewis Armeigh, a petición de su amiga Penny, se cuela una noche en el cementerio para comprobar que el cuerpo de Robert, el prometido de esta, se encuentra en su ataúd. Pero cuál no será su sorpresa cuando confirme las sospechas de Penny: el féretro está vacío. Muy buen relato de misterio, terror y ciencia ficción, con Mad Doctor de por medio.
El milagro. (***) El señor Jadant viaja en tren, cuando este sufre un accidente. Buen relato.
Tiempo muerto. (****) En un laboratorio, Yvon Darnier es sometido a un experimento sobre hibernación que no sale como los científicos esperan. Muy buen relato sobre los efectos de la relatividad.
El tigre recalcitrante. (**) El señor Darbon visita, junto a su mujer y otra pareja, el zoo. De repente Darbon comprueba que puede controlar las mentes de los animales. Interesante.
Caída en el olvido. (**) Un hombre sufre una constante pesadilla en la que mata a su gatuna mujer. Interesante.
La ronda del diablo. (***) Una gitana le propone al protagonista un pacto: recuperar a su mujer y, sobre todo, a su perro Tom. Buen relato.
La última travesía. (***) Donald Parkson realiza su último vuelo Nueva York-Londres, ya que se retira. Durante la travesía sucederá algo sobrenatural. Buen relato.

De Langelaan ya había leído otro de sus libros de relatos. Estos juegan más con la irrealidad, que la ciencia ficción, pero igual son disfeutables.

Ein Experiment, das schief geht, eine junge Frau, die nach ihrem Sterben noch weiterlebt, ein Tiger, der sich durch die Gedanken der Menschen steuern lässt, seltsame Roboter oder Wunde, die ganz anders passieren als man sich das vorstellt. Diese und noch mehr Geschichten sind in dem Buch enthalten.
Für mich war "Die Fliege" die bekannteste Geschichte. Ich habe sowohl den alten Schwarzweißfilm gesehen als auch neuen Film. Aber das war nicht alles, was ich schon kannte. Ich war überrascht, wie viel das war. "Denkende Roboter" habe ich als "Schach dem Roboter" als Film gesehen. Von" Das Wunder", "Die andere Hand" und "Das Mädchen aus Nirgendwo" kannte ich das Motiv, aber ich bin mir nicht sicher, woher.
Mir hat gut gefallen, wie sich die Spannung aufgebaut hat. Es gab nie einen Knall, sondern der Reiz der einzelnen Geschichten hat sich fast beiläufig entwickelt. Jede einzelne Geschichte war etwas Besonderes. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Sammlungen mit Kurzgeschichten habe ich diese hier hintereinander weg gelesen, weil ich mich nach jeder Geschichte schon auf die nächste gefreut habe.

Yendo en contra del título de la colección, diría que solo hay dos cuentos estrictamente de ciencia ficción ("Robots pensantes" y "Tiempo muerto"), el resto va más de fantasía, salvo "Caída en el olvido", que carece de elemento fantástico y yo lo categorizaría como suspenso o policial. Algunos, además, coquetean un poco con el terror.
Muy fáciles de leer, estas historias del autor de "La mosca" (que acá no viene incluido) presentan personajes muy humanos que dejan brotar el rencor, el odio, la ambición, el deseo; todos, a flor de piel.

Au delà du célèbre "la mouche", un excellent recueil de nouvelles à la frontière de entre science fiction, polar et anticipation...un petit goût "Black mirror" ante litteram ...

I read this book when it first came out in 1966 and lent my copy to a friend.
Naturally the next time I thought about rereading, because I had enjoyed it so much, it was nowhere to be found! My friend swears to this day that I’ve never lent it to him, and to make matters worse the book had gone out of print! I’ve searched since then to find a copy to no avail. Fortunately it has been reissued by a publishing house I’ve never heard of, « Arbre Vengeur » , and they included all the original 13 stories, of which « La Mouche » is not even the best one.
The Fly was turned into a few movies, with the Cronenberg one being the most successful one. I have to confess, with all due respect to Cronenberg, that I still prefer the original text.
The wondrous thing about rereading these stories 55 years later is how fresh they were in my mind, as if I had just read them a few weeks ago. I’ve read thousands of books in that time and very few can I recall with such clarity.

Peut-être mon recueil préferé dans le genre novellas de science-fiction. Y est inclue 'La Mouche' comme d'autres histoires moins connues mais pas moins éprouvantes. Une mention spéciale pour 'Récession', nouvelle dont Emmanuel Carrère fait reference dans Yoga (voir revue) et qui m'a immediatement donné envie de découvrir Langelaan. La réalité, ses limites, ses seuils dépassables ou non, les facultés psychiques et ses repercussions dans le domaine paranormale et, bien-sûr, à chaque fois le questionement sur les frontières éthiques de passer du monde à 'l'anti-monde' et le prix humain a y laisser. Thèmes toujours fascinants et qui m'a fait regarder à nouveau cette *fantastique* série television produite et co-écrite par Rod Sterling dans les années soixante, "The Twilight Zone" ("La Quatrième Dimension" en FR). La même époque mais des thèmes si intemporels.
