Ex-Chief Inspector Keith Penrose is now retired and not entirely sure he is enjoying his new-found freedom. As always Debby Fowler skillfully balances the personal life of her characters with a well thought-through crime story.

Thoroughly enjoyable series

I read no. 5 first, found it in a drawer in a house we stayed at in Carbis Bay, read it and then had to get the rest. I think you could say they’re page turners as it’s only taken me 25 days to read all 8 books.

These books have had me engrossed for the past few days. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters.

As with the last seven this is an easy read with just enough intrigue to keep you interested. I do, however, think it was concluded too quickly.
