About the author

Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton are a sister co-authoring team who have written 36 published novels and 77 short stories. Among their novels are the archaeologist Ardis Cole series and a new series featuring contemporary Wyoming sheriff Jeff McQuede. The two sisters often travel to exotic locations such as Russia, India, China and Peru to research settings for their novels. They are also drawn to the western United States and their love for the unique flavor of the Old West provides a background for many of their novels. Both writers now live in Kansas: Loretta in Junction City, Vickie in Hutchinson.

A very good short story about a cripple boy in India who is a beggar.. He meets an American artist who says to him, "There are many physcial disablities, but there are many more mental ones, ones that prevent us from being all we can."

The boy's association with her leads to an opportunity for him which brings to mind the famous quote, "You can feed a man a fish for a day or you can teach him how to fish for a lifetime" (something like that..) The boy has a decision to make.. I was surprised by the choice he makes and whereas I understand one accepting his or her disability, I was put off by his choice because.. well I think he shoulda learned how to fish. Read it and you'll see what I mean.

Welcome to India where you meet Rajeen, a young man with a disability. Follow him through his day of trying to just live. When Rajeen meets a special person and his life could change. This is a short story with a make-you-think ending. Well done and congrats to the sister authors

A young disabled boy finds himself being appreciated for who he is as he is in a world filled with hate and disgust. He was asked what he would want, if given the opportunity. He said he wanted to be rid of his disability. However, when given the opportunity to see a doctor and have his body fixed, he decided that his life is fine just the way it is.

We can all learn from this. There are many times when we are given choices. Think twice before you make a wish.
