The Midnight Bakery

Rate this book
Frankie Nightingale bakes by moonlight, kneading loaves and preparing pastries in a tiny bakery on a quiet backstreet, safe from those who have broken her heart in the past. Her new job is a chance to start again.

But one night she hears a tap at the window and handsome but shy William steps unexpectedly into her life. The welcoming scent of freshly baked bread and warm sugar tempts in more nighttime regulars, and Frankie soon finds herself surrounded by kind faces and laughter.

Frankie looks forward to her evenings, and especially William’s visits. Slowly she begins to open up to him about secrets she’s held onto for so long. Over hot chocolate and homemade shortbread, William makes her smile again, and she starts to believe her heart can be healed.

Yet just as glimmers of hope and friendship flicker in the moonlight, Frankie finds a letter neatly folded on the countertop. As she unfolds the perfect creases, her heart plummets as she sees an R scrawled at the end: will everything she’s been building towards be undone in an instant?

Can Frankie find it in herself to fight for the new beginning she deserves? Or will she have to leave the midnight bakery for good?

Emma Davies once applied for her dream job in the following manner;

'I am a bestselling novelist currently masquerading as a thirty something mother of three.' Well she's now a forty something mother of three, and is working on the rest.

By day she's a finance manager and looks at numbers a lot of the time, but by night she gets to use actual words and practices putting them together into sentences. Her twitter bio says she loves her family, her job, reading, writing, singing loudly in the car, and Pringles, so that must be true then.

Letting in Light is her debut novel, and she is currently working on her second.

One Liner: Heartwarming and hopeful

Frankie Nightingale prefers nighttime when she finds peace in silence. She works for a tiny bakery and spends her nights kneading loaves and making buns, croissants, etc. After escaping her previous life and marriage filled with restrictions, she finds freedom in simple things and alone time.

Frankie soon meets Beth, an overworked nurse, William, a shy and handsome man, and Tam, a caregiver with no home. As the four strangers become friends, Frankie finds her life flourishing with new relationships and hope. However, Frankie’s ex-husband arrives at the place, bringing turmoil into her new life. Can Frankie, with help from her friends, choose herself over the rest?

The story comes in the third-person POVs of Frankie, Beth, William, and Tam.

My Thoughts:

No idea why I initially thought this was historical fiction. It’s very much contemporary, though the setting has a timeless quality (despite the use of mobile phones and computers). It has the 1990s or early 2000s vibes.

The main characters are in their late 40s or early 50s and act their age. This is a dignified book (for the lack of a better word) with a slow-moving narration. Despite the gravity of the themes, the book feels mellow and cozy.

Every character is facing an issue, be it something from their past or present. Yet, they are kind, sympathetic, and helpful. I liked all of them equally, which shows the care the author took in developing their arcs and presenting their stories.

Though the FMC is the center of the plot, not everything happens because of her. This retains the balance in the narratives and gives each one their space to grow and build new friendships.
Everyone has flaws, but they are doing their best to become better. That’s where others come into the picture. This is a proper found family without OTT drama or excitement.

I love the scenes in the bakery and the ones around food. Yeah, it’s all baked goodies (yum!) like croissants, brownies, cupcakes, crumble cakes, etc. A couple of recipes at the end would have been even better.

Though the ending had a convenient solution to their problems, I was ready for it. Also, it doesn’t feel too easy since there’s enough foreshadowing to make it feel realistic and genuine.

While there’s a tiny romance track, it develops very slowly (as it should) and doesn’t overpower the plot. The focus remains on the respective priorities of each character. The epilogue also does the same.

To summarize, Frankie Nightingale Begins Again is a heartwarming and hopeful story about how friendship, kindness, and second chances can make our lives better.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

✅My thoughts:
What a lovely cast of characters! It was so much fun getting to know each one. I can’t even pick a favorite.
The story revolves around Frankie, William, Beth and Tam. All strangers that meet unexpectedly.
Each one has their own personal issues they are trying to overcome.
Each one is damaged by life, trying to go forward as best they can.
As their friendships grow, the story gets better and better.
The Midnight Bakery is a heartwarming, heartfelt book about second chances, found family, friendships and healing.
Highly recommended!

This book is a treasure. Each character is a heart-felt creation of the author who clearly understands the human need for love and friendship.

Frances Nightingale (aka Frankie) has arrived at midlife after leaving an emotionally abusive husband and beginning to rediscover her sense of self, hence the new name. Working at night in a bakery, she embraces the darkness and the quiet as a time to reflect and begin to dream of the future based on her own preferences and choices. Through a series of events, she meets three other people – each struggling with their own disappointments and failures – who support each other in their efforts to turn their lives around. The story reflects the power of relationships, the joy of a chosen family, and of the opportunity for second chances.

This is my first exposure to this author, and I am deeply impressed by her sensitivity and compassion, looking beyond surface appearances and celebrating the goodness of each character as they redeem their lives and their livelihoods.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Frankie Nightingale finds solace in the bakery where she works. Although she might have grown up as a happy child, her adult life proved otherwise. Her five decades of being known as Francis has now changed and she has become Frankie, a woman who yearns for a better life, like a butterfly transforming into something more beautiful. Despite her solitary existence, Frankie’s life is about to change.

While this book centers around Frankie’s rebirth, there are other protagonists whose lives also undergo significant transformations. There’s William, Beth, and Tam. Their stories are equally captivating, rivaling Frankie’s. Frankie first meets Beth, a hardworking nurse who becomes her close friend. Beth is a devoted wife who faces challenging circumstances. Then there’s William, who appears like a knight in shining armor, and it’s easy to imagine him as a friend. Lastly, we have Tam, who is living rough and comes with a compelling story of his own.

The bakery serves as the enchanting backdrop for this wonderful story, transporting the reader to its cozy atmosphere. The enticing aroma of Frankie’s delectable creations fills the air, making it almost as if the reader is savoring them alongside her. I found myself deeply connected to Beth, empathizing with her hard work and dedication at both her job and home, as well as her unwavering love for her husband. Tam’s story truly broke my heart, while William’s story revealed the deceptive nature of first appearances.

Emma Davies weaves a compelling tale of love, trust, friendship, and more. The intertwining stories come together seamlessly, creating a captivating narrative that lingers in the reader’s mind long after the last page is turned.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

What a touching story of hope, healing, friendship and fresh starts! Frankie Nightingale Begins Again by Emma Davies is such a warm and beautifully delivered beacon of love. The author’s own compassion shines through for those who have been abused, injured, wronged or disadvantaged in some way and even sometimes left homeless. These are heart-felt drawn main and supporting characters that you cannot help but fall in love with as they are good hard working people who have been dealt a tough hand yet still try to make the best of their unfortunate circumstances.

The story is told by four individuals providing a well-rounded view and in depth look at each of their lives. When Frankie, Beth, William and Tam come together, something in each of them clicks. Over time, an unbreakable bond of friendship forms. They encounter a number of challenges but are there for each other through thick and thin. This is a perfect example of selfless support.

I loved observing the interactions between the characters. Frankie is at the heart of the lot: the magnet in the middle. The bakery where she works becomes a lighthouse, a place of rescue and reprieve for those she meets and connects with on a deep personal level. The help, food, advice, comfort she provides is admirable and when she is faced with a difficult decision and must look fear in the face, her friends stand by her.

In time, we see why Frankie has fled her husband to start her life again. It has given her time to reclaim and rebuild herself—collect all the pieces she lost in a bad controlling marriage. After meeting, helping and engaging with her three new friends, she is able to grow and re-establish her confidence and realise her dreams. I loved Frankie’s strength and good heart. And Beth was lovely, too. Her support and determination in helping her physically injured husband are admirable. But she has to learn a few things too (and she does!). Beth is a nurse so she is more than capable in the caring department but she needs to let her husband continue to hope and maintain his dream. He wants to re-establish his farming passion. And yes, it is a tall order due to the loss of his mobility. But there are solutions for that!

Tam was such a sweet and caring person, too. and it is easy to see why Eleanor (patient in the care home) loved him. The surprise at the end was delightful and really lifted my heart! And then there is William who became an amazing helper for Frankie in her darkest hour. Their connection deepens over the course of the novel. He becomes her shelter but also an equal partner for he accepts her for who she is—unlike her husband who was always trying to change her into the image he wanted. Her husband’s personality comes under scrutiny and is well explained through Frankie’s psychoanalysis of the situation when her mind is clear. There are some great conversations between her and her husband that give us a true picture of what she was up against and why she left him. I love it that she stands her ground! The new Frankie is bold and victorious!

I highly recommend this enthralling uplifting story that shines with the power of friendship, support, love for our neighbour, and shows what can happen when we lend a helping hand. I recently read an online article that people who are kind and compassionate towards others are happier, have better physical and mental health, develop stronger relationships and feel more connected to humanity. These acts of kindness can break loneliness and isolation patterns. It helps the giver feel a sense of purpose: that what they do can make a difference. There is also a ‘reap what you sow’ result. The giver often becomes a receiver. As kindness may come their way, too (as seen in this novel). I believe this story demonstrates all these things in a big way.

Without question, get Frankie Nightingale Begins Again and read it. It will fill your heart with hope and light. The little cafe in the novel is truly for ‘the lost or the lonely, the needy or the invisible’ but it reminds us of the importance of friendship and the need to spread the sunshine of kindness to those around us. This novel is a sparkling star in an often too dark sky. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Frankie has had her share of heartbreak in her life. She pours every emotion she has left, into her bakery. Keeping long hours throughout the night in preparing her most loved treats for those that arrive in the morning. As she focuses on healing her heart, she meets many locals that also need healing in their own lives. As they find comfort and happiness through food, Frankie and her wonderful bakery give them hope.

Frankie loves the connections she has made with new friends that have become family to her. As they help each other through grief and heartache, they slowly begin to come out on the other side of their losses.

The Midnight Bakery, authored by Emma Davies, is a wonderful and delightful story that stole my heart at that very first page. This story is a treasure chest full of amazing characters. I loved each person’s story in a personal way, and that made each person feel like a new friend.

This phenomenal story had my attention from cover to cover. I couldn’t put it down…nor did I want to. Davies is a wonderful storyteller that never disappoints. I highly recommend this fantastic and unforgettable story.

Who knew baking by night would be the start to a new life for more than one person…

Frankie is a nighttime baker working at Denny’s, a small bakery down a side alley preparing all the freshly made bakes for the daytime rush.

Tam is a lovely gentleman who has fallen on hard times but working at a care home looking after the residents but has grown fond of a lovely lady called Eleanor- a shining star of promise later in life.

Beth is a nurse working nights at a hospital while her and her husband struggle to make ends meet on the farm they own - her husband is paralysed after a freak accident on the farm.

William is a gentle giant who lives just down from the bakery but works as a ‘bouncer’ in a club, which he gets suspicious over its activities after being
offered an extra job ‘‘off the books’ to help the boss.

4 separate life stories which over time hold their hearts together in an unlikely place.

This book was an absolute joy to read. Firstly I was drawn into this book by the fabulous cover, I thought it was gorgeous. Everything about this book was so good , the characters and the story all came together to make this book one which I found difficult to put down at times . There are strong friendships made from people who only got to know each other through various circumstances. We can’t forget the bakery where Frankie works at night and the baking of the fresh bread and cakes was so well described
I could almost smell the baking coming out of my kindle. This is the perfect read curled up in a chair with a cuppa and a slice of cake

A book full of hope and friendship. As four strangers, each with their own story and baggage, connect with each other, friendships, they didn't realise they needed, begin to forge.

Some great characters and interesting back stories made it an enjoyable read.

This was an amazing read. I was totally hooked right from the beginning. I loved the multiple view points so we got to see an in-depth perspective of all the main characters. Each character has so much going on, each totally interesting in their own right. When they come together they have a fantastic support network and friendship.

Four people who thought they were alone, invisible sometimes, felt the weight of the world on their shoulders, but a small connection, a little bit of kindness to another person soon snow balled into a deep friendship and support.

I liked that all the characters were older, had already lived a life, but showed that even over the age of 50, there is still a lot of life left to live. I laughed and cried along with Frankie and the others, and loved every minute of it.

Frances Nightingale (Frankie) works nights in a bakery, it’s her escapism.

Beth does nightshifts in a local hospital and is her husband’s carer during the day following an accident.

William works in a nightclub, he’s trying very hard to turn his life around, but some people don’t want him to.

Tam has a job in an assisted living facility, but sleeps in his car at night.

An interesting story that shows how people’s lives differ but can be there for each other and form a beautiful friendship.

The story was well written, and I came to know and like most of the characters.

It captured my attention from the very first page and kept me glued to the pages until the very last word and definitely left me wanting more!! Emma's fantastic and stunning writing skills and vivid descriptions will put the reader in the storyline along with the following characters. Frankie Nightingale works in Duggan's bakery where she is enjoying her new life but still hiding from her past. Beth works as a senior nurse at St John's Hospital while also caring for her husband Jack who is in a wheelchair. Beth is overworked, stressed about her job, her husband and money. William works the doors at a club, he is shy and handsome but with a history and a promise he made he is stuck in a job where he doesn't like what is going on. Tam works as a carer, he has a great friendship with one of the ladies he cares for but is also homeless and living out of his car. Grab your copy of this absolute stunner to find out for yourself and I PROMISE you will not regret it! This is one of those fantastically stunning books that is perfect to read anywhere and everywhere from curled up next to a roaring fire to sunning yourself on a beach as regardless of where you are Emma will whisk you away to the bakery and into the lives of Tam, Frankie, Beth and William!! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting as there was no way I could put it down!! Each and every time I even thought about it to get some actual house work done the characters called me back to demand their attention!! The chapters are quite short which is ideal to pick up and read a few here and there whether on a break or on a bus, the problem is trying to put it down!! One of the things I really enjoyed about this storyline is that it is unique to me as I had never read a storyline like it which always makes a lovely change after reading so many books as it is getting harder and harder to find something new. An absolutely brilliant, touching, inspirational, beautiful read which will stay with you for a long time!!

Clear your schedules and get lost in this beautifully addictive page turner!!

I absolutely loved the larger than life, unique and just fantastic characters that Emma has created for this book!! Thanks to her fantastic descriptions it truly feels like you are right next to Tam, Frankie, Beth and William throughout. I absolutely loved meeting every single one of the characters and one of the things that I loved the most is that each of these 4 people could not be more different to each other!!! I was rooting for each of them from the very second I met them and all the way through the book! I loved watching their personalities and confidence changes and develop from the start to the finish as well as friendships and relationships. All of the characters are unique with their own personalities, flaws and strengths and I loved meeting and getting to know them all. So many of them deserve to have their own books written about them which I would love to see come to life, hint hint Emma! The only downfall with the characters is that they are entirely fictional even though Annabelle brings them to life unfortunately, no matter how much I would love to, I am unable to meet up with them in the real world!! I was completely invested in them all throughout and I was gutted when the time came to say Goodbye! Emma truly does an absolutely amazing job of bringing the story to life and the characters leap out of the pages as your turning them thanks to her evocative writing skills and I enjoyed getting to meet them all!! It really goes to show how talented she is creating such a wonderful storyline and all these brilliant characters in this beautiful book and I cannot wait to see what her imagination creates next!!

Clear your schedules as this is one gorgeous and unputdownable stunner ❤️

Overall an absolutely gorgeous book that will stay with you for a very long time. A stunning unique must read!!!

🥐A warm uplifting read!🥖

This story of four unlikely friends who crossed paths in unexpected ways is a great fit for those looking for a healthy dose of hope.

Frankie works nights in a bakery 🧁 to avoid the notice of the controlling husband she ran away from. She’s living a fearful existence, but the fire 🔥 in her spirit is undeniable. I think many will find it relatable that she’s in her 50s and essentially starting over. Tam is desperate to hide that he’s homeless while holding on to his job caring for the elderly. The author dug into his story both the with the “why” of his homelessness and the “how” of his daily schedule. The difficulties of basic necessities aren’t glossed over. Beth is a nurse whose husband is paralyzed and heartsick that he can’t farm anymore. 💔 She’s under pressure to support them financially and be his caregiver. She is exhausted because they have no family around to help and can’t afford to hire anyone. The author didn’t shy away from showing the difficulties in their marriage as a result of all the pressure. William is in his mid 50s working as a bouncer in a club. It isn’t his dream job, but he has his reasons. He’s being pressured to partake in illegal activities despite doing everything he can to make good choices. He is a compelling character and his arc was my favorite.

The POVs switched between the four characters and that was a great move because seeing each of their worlds up close was the book’s strongest attribute. The steady pacing made for a pleasant read. The ending was a little convenient, but if this group isn’t deserving of a little slice of happiness then I don’t know who is.

Characters from different walks of life finding better versions of themselves standing together made this feel like a hug in the form of a novel.💜 🤗

I received an advance review copy of "Frankie Nightingulatu" by Emma Davies in exchange for an honest review.

"Frankie Nightingale Begins Again" is a heartwarming and uplifting novel that explores the complexities of navigating a new life after trauma and significant life events. Emma Davies weaves a poignant and relatable story that follows Frankie and those around her as they learn to heal, grow, and find new beginnings.

The characters in this novel are multidimensional and authentic, making it easy to become invested in their journeys. Davies tackles tough themes with sensitivity and care, creating a narrative that is both hopeful and realistic.

While the multiple narrative voices added depth to the story, there were moments where the transitions between perspectives felt a bit disjointed. Additionally, some sections felt slightly overlong, which slowed the pacing.

Despite these minor quibbles, "Frankie Nightingale Begins Again" is a lovely and engaging read. If you enjoy character-driven fiction that explores the human capacity for resilience and hope, this novel is sure to resonate with you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC book.

Frankie Nightingale spends her nights baking loaves and pastries in a small bakery, hiding away from the world and those who have hurt her the most. She feels safe at night on her own, surrounded by delicious tarts and warm bread. Beth's life has become hectic and stressful since the accident left her husband Jack in a wheelchair. His dreams of running a farm have gone up in smoke since then and left them both sad and frustrated. All seems hopeless until a chance meeting between Beth and Frankie sparks a friendship at a time they both need it. Soon, Tam and William, 2 other lost souls both in need of a friend, join them. All the characters in this story have had their share of pain and disappointment and their lives are in turmoil and at a crossroad. With the support of their newly found friends, can they find the courage to take a leap of faith and try again?

A warm, touching story filled with the hope that comes with the possibility of new beginnings. A lovable cast of characters who are all searching for something that they have lost, often through no fault of their own. A lovely read that gives you the feels. I enjoyed this gem of a book and hope you do too.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I haven't read any stories by Emma Davies before, but I'll be looking out for more.

This is a heart-warming tale set in an anonymous English town which, like many of its characters, has fallen on hard times. Those characters did not have perfect lives in the past, either. In fact, in a different writer's hands, we might have been more judgmental of their actions then and their motives now.

However, this is something of a modern-day fairytale where ordinary people who are sad, lonely and all but beaten by big events, get second chances in life through small kindnesses and honest friendships.

I suspected what was in store for us about two-thirds of the way through, but this didn't detract from my reading speed. The twist for the ending was too much for me. I thought it would be more believably constructed, given the clever writing of the rest of the book. However, a heart-warming tale for these cold days.

Plot: 4/5✨
Characters: 5/5✨
Setting: 5/5✨
Writing: 4/5✨
Personal Enjoyment: 4.5/5✨

An absolute hidden gem of a book.

This story completely won me over with its characters. Such a special little bunch, all endearing and genuinely likeable. Every character comes with their own past, their own quiet struggles, and yet they all show kindness and understanding. There is something so comforting about watching people show up for each other.

At its heart, this is a story about friendship and the goodness that exists in people when you take the time to notice it. This was the type of book that felt like the warmest hug.

And then there is the cosiness. The cups of tea, pastries, the shared breakfasts and of course the midnight conversations. Truly felt as if I was wrapped in a blanket, listening to old friends talk amongst themselves.

The whole thing gave strong Friends energy, a found family doing life together, and I loved every minute of it.

I think you can sometimes tell, right from the opening pages, when a book is going to be everything you want it to be. From our first meeting with Frankie – not Frances, that name belongs in the former life that she was glad to leave behind – contentedly baking through the night at Duggan’s bakery in readiness for the next day’s customers, singing along to the radio, I knew I was going to really enjoy getting to know her rather better. The nights are her happy time – a world of her own, with no-one to disturb her, an opportunity to visit her happier memories, to think about her past and how her life has changed, and to cherish hopes about what the future might hold. We slowly learn more about her history, the events that knocked her confidence and made her fearful of the daytime world – but she’s not the only character in this lovely book that won my heart.

Beth is a nurse on the edge of exhaustion, working night shifts as they’re the only way she can manage the care of her husband Jack – living on a farm they’re unable to care for since the accident that left him in a wheelchair. One night, she slips on the wet cobbles outside the bakery while rushing to her car, and Frankie dashes to help her – and that proves to be the start of the friendship they need when life begins to throw its slings and arrows at them both. William works as a bouncer in a nearby nightclub, where he worries that the management might be caught up in illegal activities. He’s nearby when Frankie is disturbed by some nighttime revellers, intimidating them with his size and successfully seeing them off – and she comes to see that, despite his rather frightening appearance, he has a heart of gold, and he too becomes a regular visitor as their friendship grows. And then there’s Tam – working in a nursing home, living in his car since his life went pear-shaped – who I think perhaps might, by just a whisker, have been my favourite of them all. He used to own a horticultural business – and when his life begins yet another downward spiral, he’s perfectly placed to help out Beth and Jack with their neglected farm.

Their stories – past and present, with many emerging secrets – are so beautifully told, in third person but from their own perspectives, with extraordinary emotional depth. I grew to feel so deeply for all four, damaged in different ways by their experiences – and when it becomes clear that their individual problems are far from over, I really loved the way they were all there for each other, with support and practical help, making the relationships between them even stronger. The author’s emotional touch is perfect – they each become become a person you feel you know and really care about, each with a sad and compelling story they’ve chosen to hide from the world. And, as a reader, you become entirely part of their friendship group – hurting when they hurt, laughing with them during their lighter moments, really hoping for a change in their fortunes and a happier ending for them all, the connection that develops between them really warming the heart. And the storytelling is quite wonderful – the surprises, the disappointments, the worries, the sadnesses, the moments of drama, and the strength and joy they were able to find in each other.

The whole book felt like a warmest of hugs, through all the individuals’ many trials and tribulations up to its simply perfect ending. It’s a few weeks since I read it – in one sitting, I was so caught up in their lives – and I’m still thinking about the individuals at its heart, often with a smile, always with love. This is one that really needs to be on everyone’s reading list – I enjoyed it so much, and honestly couldn’t recommend it more highly.

A wonderful read

First time reading this author and what a treat. This book makes you feel that their is good people still in the world. All main characters (frankie, beth, Tam and william) are in hard times, one is homeless, one is hiding and lost, one is broke and trying to hold her husband up, and one thinks he is a criminal but is not.
It's a book that will stay with me, but there was one thing I found hard don't want to give spoilers but if you come into money yes it's nice to help two of your friends out but why not at least buy yourself a caravan or something when you have no home or job? For me that was just a little to over the top, he was my favourite character but still.he had nothing not even a love interest and he was the kindest out of them all.
This book is about friendships and hard time. A great read.

In Emma Davie's newest book, she tells a charming tale of strangers who become friends. Frances "Frankie" Nightingale is hiding from a troubled life, working overnight at a bakery. William works as a doorman at a nightclub down the street. Beth works overnight as a nurse at the local hospital to care for her husband during the day. While working at the assisted living center, Tam sleeps overnight in his car at the local car park. Fate brings these night owls together, and they grow into a family.

What a lovely, lovely read. Fans of Clare Pooley's books will want to dive into this one immediately. The ending is like a hug for your heart.

Thank you, Netgalley and Bookouture, for the advanced reading copy. All opinions are my own.

I could not love this book more!

Frankie, William, Beth and Tam. Four people with complex backstories, all damaged in some way. But bit by bit, their hearts start to heal.

This book was about redemption, about love in all its forms and a deep friendship and acceptance; family, even if you are not related by blood.

I loved all the characters and could really relate to Frankie's story, so much. I am much the same age, same kind of background as well, unfortunately. I am not physically strong like her but I did take some solace from her journey and the fact that she had some amazing people in her life who had her back. I know this is fiction, but it still helps :)

5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

In a cosy back street is nestled a little bakery. Francis Nightingale works the Night shtft baking bread and pasteries; making the bakery ready for the morning opening.
Frankie lives in a small apartment on top top of the bakery.
But Frankie hides a secret. She is running away from her past, a past that haunting her so much she hides in the safty of The midnight bakery.

During the course of a few weeks she meets three friends with problems of their own and together they meet at the bakery and form a bond over the solace of the bakery. The author empathizes the bond of deep friendship and compassion. This is a feel good novel that will make you hungry for more.

A wonderful story about new beginnings, friendship and found family.

Frankie is rebuilding her life, baking at night and sleeping during the day. When William, Beth and Tom arrive in her life, they all realise how much they need each other.

Beautifully written, with wonderful characters who have found themselves in difficulties, generally through no fault of their own. They are all trying to help themselves with no outside help, but the story shows that everyone needs help every now and then. A truly lovely book, highly recommended.

4’3/5 ⭐️ First of all, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for and ARC of “Frankie nightingale begins again”. This book has a very heartwarming story. Five people who don’t know each other found themselves struggling in different aspects of their lives. I really loved knowing all their personal experiences and stories, and how the friendship that blossoms between them proves to be their life saver. Also, i really liked that all of them are grown adults, it makes you feel hopeful that life is long and we all have time to find out our own paths. A very enjoyable and hopeful read!
