Dalton “The Detonator” Taylor is living the dream. His MMA title fight is just around the corner and life is good. Damn this book was crazy awesome! I started it on a Sunday afternoon, stopped to do things in between reading and ended up staying up late to finish it. Once I got to a certain point I just could not put it down! Ahhh soo good!

Fractured starts off with McKenna and Millie being locked up after being kidnapped by Millie’s boyfriend. From there it’s a fight for survival and accepting that things aren’t always what they seem. The book switches off POVs between McKenna and Dalton, Millie’s brother. We also have some flashbacks from the first time McKenna and Dalton met, but I should warn you now this is not a love story. It is very much a dark mystery with a lot of twisted people who do a lot of unspeakable acts. If I had to compare it to another book and movie I would say it was like Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts mixed in with the movie Taken. Though I will say it is not as graphic as Captive in the Dark. You know that these awful things are happening but the authors do not show it. It is definitely more about what the characters, mainly McKenna is feeling when it is happening, but the actual acts are not described in detail.

I really enjoyed this book! It had that dark, suspenseful tone that I really like in books. It also wasn’t too graphic so that helped. I will read books that have graphic content but I don’t know if I would have been able to take it if the whole book was super graphic because there was a lot of bad things that happened to these girls. At about the 40% mark, I just could not put this book down. It was so intense and so many unexpected things started happening that I just wanted to find out what was going on. There were a lot of twists and turns throughout the whole book and so many unanswered questions up to the very end. And the ending…damn was it intense!! I kept looking at the percentage on the bottom of my kindle wondering if it was going to have at least some conclusion or if it was just going to end in the middle of a scene with an epic cliffhanger. Luckily there was no epic cliffhanger. There were still a lot of questions I had by the end but it ended with enough of an ending to satisfy me and my curiosity. I still want to know what happens next but I’m okay waiting.

Besides the suspenseful story, McKenna was my favorite part of the book. Her strength was just amazing. I don’t know how she did it. And damn…that girl had such a tragic past. She just could not catch a break. She was definitely someone you just wanted to hug and tell her everything would be okay and to not give up hope even when she had every right to. Yeah…she was just amazing. There was no denying that. Plus I mean the girl made it her mission to protect Millie. You had to admire her.

The Dalton chapters were probably my least favorite part of the book. Not saying it wasn’t good but his temper was just so out of control that I just wanted to slap him and tell him to keep it together or else he would never find his sister. Luckily, he had his friend Becks with him otherwise I don’t know how he would have kept it together. While his temper was out there, it was interesting seeing him and Becks try to find Millie and McKenna. It was a nice break from seeing the pain the girls were going through. It also made me very curious about Becks’ background. Hopefully the next book will dive into his background more or he gets his own book or something. Inquiring minds want to know!

But man this book was just wow! You get sucked in right away and don’t want to stop until it’s over and you’re wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next. Loved it!

“Little girls are meant to dream about the monsters in the dark, but someone should warn us they are there.”

This book is so amazing everyone should read it. like seriously get on it.,

This is not your average love story.. i know you’ve heard that before but what i mean is this is not a love story you should expect from the start. This is what i called a fucked up love tragedy. McKenna is your average shy girl that has been through a lot. She has a best friend name Amelia… her roommate. These two are inseparable, Amelia knows the McKenna has been through a lot and both have developed such an amazing bond. Amelia begins a relationship which turns into abuse. McKenna questions her about why she’s changing but things escalate really quickly and throws McKenna and Amelia into a world they didn’t see coming… and for McKenna a world she knows very well.

Dalton is Amelia’s brother… he’s met McKenna once during a night out. Dalton is an MMA fighter with anger issues. after finding his Sister in a world she doesn’t belong… he does everything he can to bring her back home. after discovering McKenna is in the same situation as his sister he cant help to want to protect McKenna as well.

Shaw ( wait until you meet him) … so many conflicting emotions with this man. this man had so many moments where you see the real Shaw but then are moments where i just wanted to strangled him. Shaw is callous yet sweet in a messed up way. I cant help but like him even though he’s an asshole. (don’t judge me) i was rooting for him so many times i wont lie but then he goes and messes everything I though of him.

What I love about this story:
Everything. this story is so messed up and damn amazing. The things these two go through is so heartbreaking but i couldn’t help to see the bond and love this two women have for each other. There were moments where I sob and there were moments where I kept telling them to fight. The story is not too graphic and this i loved.. i love this because it shows you don’t have to write a graphic story to make it dark. i cannot wait to see McKenna and Dalton… ok and even Shaw.

I started this book and finished in one day. I became so wrapped up with this story…that I was even dreaming about it (yes that did happen

I recommend this book to those people that are willing to a ride in a wild and dark world.. This book is brilliant, cant wait to see what these ladies do in book 2.

Meet the amazing Authors of Fractured.
Hi Elizabeth Stacey, thank you for agreeing to do this interview. Tell us a bit about yourselves and your background?
L: Thanks for having us! We are excited to speak with you! Hmm, a little about ourselves. That’s a loaded question with us! Well to start with there are two of us. We have been friends for years and met when I started dating Stacey’s brother. We became those annoying friends that can have a whole conversation with just one look and have to talk at least once a day to fill each other in on our office gossip! I have two little munchkins, three dogs, a 40lb tortuous named Willie and lots of random reptiles that my mountain man brings home that keep me busy. Let’s just say that life is never boring at my house and I often think that we should be on a reality show!
S: As Liz has said we became fast friends when she started dating my brother. She has been my best friend and sister since she came into my life. I am a mother of one and soon to be two girls. My husband is definitely outnumbered! We have two dogs, two cats, and three water turtles. However our house is definitely not as crazy as Liz’s! I am a Registered Nurse, and I love my day job so to speak. It is such a wonderful gift to take care of people in need and their families.

Which Authors Inspire you?
L: WOW that is such a hard question and very different for both of us, I think. I would have to say that inspiration is a hard one for me. I LOVE many, authors but to be inspired my brain has to work at figuring out the ending. I love it when an author surprises you. I would say that J.A. Huss does that a lot. I just love that she is constantly keeping me on my toes while reading. Amy Bartol is another one I am just obsessed with. Her writing is on another level. Seriously I have a major author crush on her. I am counting down the days to the release of her books. The Premonition Series will blow you away. And of course, Jaime McGuire. Besides the fact that we share a home state I can’t get enough of her writing. While I loved the Beautiful Series if you haven’t read her Providence Trilogy, Red Hill or Happenstance you are missing out.
S: Well, I have absolutely loved to read since I was a kid. John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice are just a few of my classical favorites! I love to read a smorgasbord of books like the Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling, the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. I now read any and all romance books out there, I have so many favorites! As long as a synopsis is good I’ll read it regardless if it is a known author or not! I love to give all books a chance!

For those that have not read Fractured. Can you tell us about it?
L: Well first it’s not a love story. It’s the tragedy that happens before the love story. McKenna Brooks wakes up to find out that she and her best friend have been kidnapped and are trapped together in a basement. She soon realizes that no one is coming to save them and it’s up to her to make sure that the past that haunts her doesn’t repeat itself. Dalton, Amelia’s brother, finds out that his sister has gone missing and his life is turned upside down. Through his journey to find her he learns of McKenna and the force that draws him toward her drives him to make sacrifices to help save them both. It’s a very dark and twisted story. It’s laying the ground work for the series so there isn’t a lot of sweet soft romance to it.
What or who inspired this story?
L: Well actually we were writing another book and hit a wall in the story line for one of the characters. We were talking about it and how most books somewhat follow that same timeline, where the characters meet, fall in love, have a tragedy, then get back together and live happily ever after. We wondered what would happen if we mixed it all up. What would happen if we started with a tragedy and let the characters find their way out? We don’t want the readers to be able to assume that everything will be okay, because sometimes life isn’t okay and it’s how people deal with it and work through it that makes their happy ending.
S: Liz has been the majority writer in this book. She has such a creative imagination! We toss ideas around and will come up with different ideas to put into play!

Give us insight to your main character. What does he/she do that’s special to you?
L: McKenna is a fighter and doesn’t know it. She has been on her own for so long and lost her family at such a young age, and when she finds Amelia she will do anything to protect her. Her drive to protect Amelia is what keeps her going and there is something so beautiful about the friendship they share. We wanted to show that.
S: I love the fact that Dalton is one tough guy but is able to show softer side towards the end to McKenna. I love it when guys in books are not always the jerks so many people write them to be!

What was the hardest thing about writing Fractured?
L: For me it was Shaw. He teeters on the line a lot. He is cruel and vengeful but he has these moments where you almost feel something for him and you aren’t sure what to do about it. A lot of the dark scenes are with him and his motivation and rage are hard at times.

Is this book part of a series, if so how many books should we expect?
S: The series is called The Broken Series and we are currently writing the second book, Restoration. We are hoping to have it out early 2015. We originally wanted a 3 book series but some of the other characters may need to tell their stories so we are open to it if the readers want them.

Is there a message in your novel that you want people to grasp?
L: Well I think we want the readers to find their own meaning in the story. Of course the friendship between McKenna and Amelia is huge but we do have an underlying message. I think that it will start to unravel for them in the next book.
S: For me, I just would love people to be able to sit and enjoy reading our book! Books to me don’t always need to have a meaning As long as they allow me to become immersed and taken away into the plot line I see that as a wonderful success! I love to read for relaxation and I hope people feel like they can become immersed in our book enough to have some relaxing “me” time.

Will there be new characters introduced in your next book?
L: Yes, we have a few. One that is quite nasty and fun to write!
S: But, our main focus is McKenna and Dalton. You get to see where their relationship goes after Fractured.

While writing Fractured was there a character that spoke to you more than the other ones?
L: For me it was Amelia. She goes from one extreme to the other in the first book and her journey is complicated and emotionally messy. She is also the rock for McKenna a lot but you start to see that she may not be so steady all the time.
Is there a certain type of scene that was harder for you to write than others?
L: Well we had several that were very brutal and you kind of have to take a step back and walk away from the computer sometimes.
S: I agree with Liz on this one! She would always call and ask if something was just “too much” but my response was always No!

What type of music did you listen to while writing Fractured?
L: For me, it depends on the scene and what the characters are feeling. I have a lot of go to artists. Birdy, Lorde, and Bear’s Den all seem to draw out the emotions in the story. Youth by Daughter was one that was on repeat a lot.
S: None! I can’t concentrate and listen to music! Now, at times I would have my daughter watching her favorite shows on television, but even that can distract me!

How can the readers discover more about you and your work?
S: We have a Facebook page, and Goodreads author page. We recently started a twitter account but I will be honest I am twitter inept. I cannot figure that damn little blue bird out so if you get on their it’s mostly Liz you will see.
L: Yeah, Stacey is a little low on the techno pole! Where I think I will be buried with my ipad! I never go anywhere without it so I am on twitter and Facebook all the time! We are also getting our website and blog together soon so fans can keep up with our books. We LOVE to hear from our readers even if it’s to tell us we suck, so fans can always email us at elizabethstaceybooks@hotmail.com! And PLEASE write us some reviews!! They seriously make our day!

I’m in love with this story and these awesome ladies. Make you to check out Fracture.

A high 3 1/2 stars from me.

I loved and hated this book....There were parts, I was so annoyed with McKenna I truly wanted to smack her. I felt like she was always trying to be the martyr and it so annoyed me. I got where she was coming from, I did, but sometimes good things do happen.

Dalton, was the predictable bog brother, he sister was in trouble and he was there to help. At first I really didn't like him. He's cocky, and arrogant, but his whole attitude about what happened to his sister and where he laid original blame bothered me.

I needed more background on why they were kidnapped....I'm hoping I learn Black's part in this whole scenario. I have my theories, on who plays what part but I know I'm going to read the next book so I can see if I'm right.

Overall, a fast read, I read it in one sitting. I wanted to see if Millie and McKenna got out okay after all tey had to endure.

I can´t put down to read it!! This book is well written and wow, the book tell about Mckenna and Dalton, the first was abducted with her friend and they fight in her own way to survive, Dalton is a MMa fighter and hiss world changes when he learn that her sister was kidnapped, this book is hard, some part was difficult to read but I understood Mckenna and her fight, she is remarkable heroin and love her fierceness and protectiveness to her friend.
Dalton, I love him, because he is protective and stop nothing until he save her sister and Mckenna.

Some part was very intense and mind was overload but I can´t put down because I need to find out how they come out. Love how this book alternate POV.

And of course I was hooked and can´t wait to read the next book, this is just the beginning and the fight is starting.

I totally recommend this book!!!

There is no bigger word to explain how sad and heartbreaking this book was.

The novel stars McKenna Brooks and her best friend Amelia "Millie" Taylor, kidnapped, locked and heavily abused by Millie's explosive boyfriend Vince. McKenna has had a long history of dealing with abuse and neglect her whole life, so she knows how to act toward vicious beings such as Vince. But Vince isn't even half the issue when another mafia leader, Shaw, separates the girls and keeps McKenna for himself. The book's POV switches from McKenna's to Minnie's older MMA-fighting champion brother Dalton "The Detonator" Taylor. When he finds out that her little sister and her friend are missing and captured, he and his computer hacker friends Hunter and Becks do whatever it takes to bring the girls home, although they have a huge payment to the head of the mafia, Mr. Black...

I found this book super intense with lots of dark currents running through it. It is not the darkest book i have read but that did not stop you going omg, it is dark because of the themes and feeling you experience for the characters. I love a book that is not all roses and chocolates and this book is not that at all. McKenna and Millie are in a bad bad situation and there does not look to be a way out but McKenna has had tough times in her life before and she is tough. Not tough all the time as lets face it this is a harsh situation to be in kidnapped with your bestie and no-one knows you are missing, but she will not go without all the fight in her leaving her. Dalton is like a pressure cooker, he is almost at boiling point and is just waiting for the right time to blow. He is tough and determined to find his sister but will everyone come out of this unscathed? You will have to read to find out, and it is a great read hat will keep you ion the edge of your seat wondering who will remain unaffected if anyone can after this traumatic situation.

What an completely enthralling beginning to a series.. This story truly blurs the lines of who the good guy is. Usually with a story you can figure that out pretty quickly. Not with this one. I loved every second of it. The drama, the rawness, the characters who you rooted for and the ones you hated. I would recommend this book to anyone who doesn't like something clean cut. The plot twists were fantastic. The writing was immaculate and I can't wait for the next book in the series, great job ladies.

Intense. Emotional. Heart pounding. This book has it all. Some scenes were beef too intense for me. Not for anyone under the age of 21 in this readers humble opinion but so addicting, I read this book today. All day. I couldn't stop till I knew the ending. I will definitely be following the continuation of Dalton and
McKenna`s story till the bitter end.
