This powerful new book from Dr. Mike Evans is an in-depth look at the Holy City, past, present and future.
Dr. Evans goes back and traces the role of Jerusalem in the hearts and minds of the Jewish people through the centuries. Tales of conquest, prophecy and political intrigue make this true story read more like fiction. Included are first-hand accounts of Israeli leaders who helped shape the modern city of Jerusalem.

Read the first-hand accounts of those who were present on the day Jerusalem was liberated... the observations of the leaders of Israel and their vision for the future... and the designs God has for all the nations of the world through this city known as "the navel of the earth."
3.5 stars. I really liked most of what the author had to say and I learned a lot, mainly about the events concerning Israel in the twentieth century. He detailed those but skimmed over the previous centuries; that was okay with me because I just read Jerusalem: The Biography, which covered all of that. There were a few parts of this book that I felt weren't executed well, hence I can't give it four stars. But I am always amazed by the story of Israel's rebirth, so I appreciated Mike Evans's insight.
Well written and a great history lesson. He clearly details the problems israel and the Jewish people have had to deal with. Most of all the explanation of how Palestine people came to exist clearly much later in history. Proving people need to learn and know history rather than trying to change it or ignorantly put out false information.
I bought this book years ago & wish I had read it earlier. Definitely worth the read.
Mike Evans attempts to explain the history of Jerusalem in this book, based on both Bible Scripture and first hand accounts of those who were there from when it was liberated. Unfortunately, it reads more like a piece of whitewashed, religious fictional account as opposed to an actual historical account of one of the oldest, religious, contested, and historical places on the planet.
Written from a dispensational Zionist perspective, this book contains an interesting, somewhat sensational history of the formation of the political nation of Israel; however, the accompanying biblical interpretation, theology, and eschatology is problematic.
