First let me say I enjoyed this book a lot. Fell in love with Brock from the very first. He was everything I like in a hero. Brave, strong, loyal, compassionate, loving, and fiercely protective of his woman. Penelope got on my nerves at times with all her crying, thought that was a little overdone even if she was pregnant but it didn't detract from the story for me. What I didn't like about the book was the ending. I'm reading along fully expecting the book to continue when I turn the page only to find a heading of 'Chapter One' as it gives me the first chapter in Vivien' s story. I thought they left out part of the book! There was no warning, no "to be continued", no Epilogue, it just stopped. For me that's a huge no-no and if I hadn't liked the characters in the trilogy as much as I did, I probably wouldn't have read the last book. It was a huge turn-off for me. There was no closure to the story at all! I gave it four stars in spite of this simply because I enjoyed the story itself and as I said, I loved the characters. Now I will leave it up to you to judge.

ANOTHER great read by Bernadette Marie! As you know from Amelia's story, Penelope is one of 3 wives to a now dead soldier. WHAAAAAT, you ask? Cue absolute laughter on my part. I mean, seriously?! I LOVED this story! And I especially loved that Penelope's hero turns out to be another soldier :)
Again, great characters, easy to read can't put down story!
You really have to read this to believe it! LOL

I really enjoyed the majority of this book. The two main character Penelope and Brock were likeable. It was the end that kind of irradiated me. I felt there wasn't any resolution to a large plot line and completely jumped into the next book. I'll continue the series, but I just felt the ending was very abrupt.

Penelope continues the saga of The Three Mrs. Monroes. Pregnant, with nothing but a suitcase, and a beat up car, Penelope stays in her deceased husband's home town with Amelia and Vivian. Brock Romero, the soldier who held Adam Monroe as he was dying, finds Penelope to deliver a box and Adam's last words. Sometimes out of loss comes love. Amelia and Vivian play a part in this book. I really enjoyed reading Penelope!

Next up in this series is Penelope’s story. All three novels in this series have no time span between stories, each moves into the next flawlessly. Because of that these are stories that really should be read in order. The combination of all three is what gives us one solid main story, told in three parts.

After his discharge, Brock Romero headed straight to Oklahoma. His final mission was to deliver a box to Penelope Monroe, wife of the man who had saved him and had died in his arms. His last wish was for him to return items to his wife, and a box. During the time of recovery, those pictures of Penelope is part of what kept Brock sane and helped his healing. Of course she was the pregnant widow of a man he looked up to, but Brock had also kinds of started to love the women in the photos – her beauty and her smile touched him on a deep level that he didn’t bother questioning, he just knew that it was his job to take care of her and her baby.

The romance between Penelope and Brock was handled so sweetly, and even in the circumstances – believable. Each was attracted to the other almost immediately, Penelope was dealing with a lot and now add in a romance with a man she was convinced was only with her because he felt obligated to be there – between normal pregnancy hormones raging and the newness of an unexpected romance her emotions were simply off the chart. Brock was solid, he was there for her no matter what. While it might have been fast, he knew his feelings weren’t going to change anytime soon, except maybe to get deeper over time.

We had a glimpse of the craziness of Stella (Adam’s mother) and she will play a bigger part in this story, or her actions will at least. Vivian is given some explanation of her husband’s actions over the years, and if all three women have not completely forgiven Adam for his selfish decisions, perhaps they no longer hate him quite as much.

Penelope~The Three Mrs. Monroes is a charming story of a woman who has always been alone finding the family and the man who can guarantee she will never be alone again. The mystery heats up and I’m certain we are heading for an explosive ending in the final novel, Vivian’s story. I’m enjoying this series, delivered in this manner very much and would not hesitate to recommend all three stories to romance readers who love that happy ending.

What’s It About?

“Adam’s lies had entangled them. Adam’s death had brought them together. Adam’s life grew inside of her.”

Brock Romero held Adam Monroe in his arms as he died in army combat. Before he took his last breath, he asked Brock to take care of Penelope and their unborn child. Brock made good on his promise, and before returning home, he makes a stop at the Monroe residence.

Penelope has been burned before, badly. When Brock Romero shows up at her door, the Monroe women are suspicious of his motivations. Penelope, being six months pregnant, has raging hormones. She is falling, fast for Brock, despite what Vivian and Amelia think.

“I still don’t understand why you want to be around me. I’m someone else’s discarded, pregnant wife. I have nothing to offer a man.”

But, are the feelings mutual? Or is Brock only fulfilling a promise he made to a fallen soldier?

Book 2 of The Three Mrs. Monroes is Penelope’s story.

My Thoughts

WOW, what a story! I loved how the author crafted this story, connecting the romance between Brock and Penelope, distantly to Adam. I’m dying to get to book 3, Vivian’s story, for her to get her turn at romance! –Although I will be absolutely depressed to end this excellent series.

Book 2 is a continuation of Book 1, but the focus is on Penelope’s perspective, rather than Amelia’s, like in Book 1. Book 2 finds Penelope heavily pregnant, and the women scrambling to get everything done in time to open their daycare center. The women are closer than ever, and more like sisters in this installment of The Three Mrs. Monroes.

What I enjoy the most about this series is the well-developed, lovable characters. Their relationships to one another, and the situations surrounding them, makes the story worth reading. You just WANT to know what the Monroe women will be up to next. I eagerly anticipate reading Book 3, Vivian’s story!

And to top it all off, the Author introduces Brock to the mix. The reader gets to witness a slow-simmering romance between the two, with a satisfying happily-ever-after. <3

I highly recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance with an HEA, and novels that focus on friendship!

So it was hard to get in to the book at first and it didn't hold my attention like most.

Penelope is a young girl lost to the world of love with a single mother growing up that worked and left her in daycare and with sitters, she never felt loved, she was saving herself for love and marraige and when she meet Adam she was not shocked he went home with her friend but then he showed her interest, she was upfront and tolled him she was waiting till she was married and within two two weeks they were married he deployed and she was pregnant. So when he gets a call from Sam Adams lawyer saying there's a problem she knows something bad is going to happen. She finds out they were never married because he had two other wife's and two daughters. The three of them form a bond and become like sisters and start a business,

Brock is lost in the love he has for Penelope from the pictures he's carried for months and have helped him move on after being injured. He promised Adam while he was dying in his arms to find Penelope and give her a box he had. What he never expected has the beauty he found, he had her pictures but seeing her was something else. Sparks flies and he can't help starting a life with her and being the father to her baby.

With some twist in the mix and a crazy mother in law, things are left unsaid, but the ending of the book is a whole different story going from Penelope's story and leaving to and unfinished end to jumping to Vivian and then ends just was not a good eniding.

Book two in The Three Mrs. Monroes series features Penelope, wife number three. The youngest of the three Mrs. Monroes, Penelope and Adam hadn't been married very long. But she was foremost in his mind when he died, because he entrusted his friend Brock to find Penelope and tell her that Adam loved her.

Wounded in the same attack that killed Adam, Brock finds solace in Penelope's photo and the idea that he will finally meet her. By the time he does, he's practically in love with her.

Penelope, Amelia and Vivian have realized that they must do something to support themselves, because what Adam left isn't enough for the three of them to live. They decide on starting a daycare and begin renovating Adam's grandmother's old house. When Brock arrives to finally speak to Penelope, he finds that he can't leave her and he is soon drawn into this odd family.

I enjoyed the interactions between the wives and the tenuous friendships that are formed and begin to solidify.

Second in the series, the story ends with the point of continuing in Vivian's story. The books really need to be read in order as they build on each other.

This was an intriguing little book and kept my interest to the end. I found the characters well though out. The plot line was a bit predictable, but kept me interested. To me, the true test of a good book is whether it makes you want more. This book passed that test. It made me want to read the other two books in the trilogy.

I loved Penelope's story. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. I think Brock is definitely book boyfriend worthy. The author has a way of making us fall in love with her characters, and this series is no different. It's going to be hard to wait until October, when the third book comes out.
