Ryan Fahey is a husband, 4x author, and professional speaker of all things wellness and personal growth. He is the Owner of FaheyConsulting which aims to help individuals and organizations move from good to great.
2.5/5 I am glad that I read this book, although I wish I had read it to completion before buying it for friends. I believe that Ryan's intentions were good however I found sections written in a young, inexperienced voice which coloured the generalizability of certain chapters. To me, this read as a conduit to connect to Ryan via email for his life coaching business, and likely pay additionally for that service. I think it's important to monetize knowledge and coaching but it is written covertly, and stated repeatedly, in the book without any reasoning as to how this author has time to respond to questions from random readers - if not to jump start his business.
Also Ryan, if you are reading this - I am happy for you that you found your life partner and were blessed with genes that don't encourage weight gain but please avoid making assumptions such as 'overweight physicians or personal trainers' have less to offer than thin ones. I would counter your assumptions there to say I do not find it helpful to take weight loss advice from someone who has not achieved significant weight loss. Furthermore, you cannot guarantee that your readers will find a life partner if they simply "work on themselves". My social circle of highly self-aware and successful single individuals in their 40s counters that outdated preconception.
I enjoyed the personal writing style of the book, the sections for individualized notes, and especially the book recommendations which were culminated in a list at the end of the book for easy reference. The Canadian references were also a novel treat. Good luck with the life coaching business Ryan, and I'll keep an eye out for future articles and publications.
