Edward Hesketh Gibbons Pearson was an English actor, theatre director and writer. He is known mainly for his biographies; they made him the leading British biographer of his time, in terms of commercial success.
This is a somewhat diverting look at what made Dizzy tick. It is not a biography per se or a political history but rather looks at his personality, motivations, writing and things he said, these are placed against the broad chronology of the period. His relations with Queen Victoria are covered and there are a few photographs included. The author takes frequent opportunity to have a dig at Gladstone.
