Everyone thinks Violeta’s dead. There’s just one problem—she’s still breathing. And only two people know the her mom and her brother, Tommy. Both of them have a key to her door. But only one of them might be willing to set her free. Tommy is Violeta’s last hope, but he’s afraid of losing everything. And Violeta doesn’t know if making his life worse would make hers any better. Tommy swears he isn’t loyal to their mother, but sometimes he ignores Violeta. Sometimes he forgets she exists. And if Violeta is being honest, she doesn’t really miss outside... It’s hard to miss something you never had. Will Violeta wake from her slumber? Or continue to live a half-life filled with abuse, regret, and isolation? The only thing scarier than the thought of going outside is the thought of angering her mother—of waking the beast. Will Tommy save Violeta? Or will he continue to live a lie?
I was a little confused for a bit, but I definitely think this book is gorgeous. The ending with Robby and Vi felt so healing for her. Robby in some ways was her hope and it felt like she was his salvation.
