Now I’ve got to prove I can navigate this labyrinth and work my way into my boss’ good graces so I can climb out of the basement and back onto the corporate ladder.
But then there’s Liam, our sexy IT guy with glasses that make his eyes even more devastating. He’s a distraction I can’t afford, especially when my entire career (and possibly my life) is on the line.

Ellie is a favorite of mine just because she has anxiety and misses social clues just like I do. Even taking her out of the equation, this series is so much fun with this latest keeping up the hilarity. Poor Ellie is in the Archives, and she is a little taken aback by its residents. I just love George and Ahmed, and how they come to (mostly) love Ellie, too. Once again, she proves her worthiness, but she still doesn’t get the placement she wants at the end. However, she is learning more about her past and who she is, one bit at a time. Even if this one wasn’t as action-filled as the first, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I’m loving this latest series by Gemma Clatworthy and this second book is definitely taking things up another level. Elle had a very eventful first placement and thinks that the Archives is a punishment for uncovering fraud and accidentally announcing it to everyone. As she settles in to her placement she realises that it’s one she can relish and gets settled in, attempting to take the many surprises in her stride. And boy, there really are some BIG surprises to get her head around!
While dealing with the challenges (and dangers!) offered by the Archives, Elle is also trying to work out how she feels about Liam from I.T. who seems to blow hot and cold on her, but to whom she feels attracted. He shares an important personal fact with her and I’m looking forward to what may come from this, and discovering whether their slow burn romance develops as a result.
Elle learns a few surprising things about herself in this book, which gives hints to her past and could have a huge impact on her future. We also see more of Elle’s new Orc friend Precious, the annoying Tristan and laughs come from vampire Fred. The end of the book brought even more surprises and I feel that we have been set up ready for an explosive next book, for which I cannot wait!
Make sure that you also use the QR code at the end of the book, to get a bonus scene from another characters POV, which really helps to make things clear.

Elle passed her first placement and is now one her second. Now she is working in the Archives and she’s not sure if it’s a punishment or a reward, but she likes it. The Archives are the storage facility for magical items and it’s run by a djinni and a Minotaur, of course since it is an underground Labrynth. Elle wants to prove she is worthy of being put back on the risk management track so she she can have her dream job by the time she’s 30, but it seems like fate is testing her yet again.
Elle is a bit of a quirky character. She is obsessed with the number 7 and needs to tap it out when she’s nervous. She’s a bit socially awkward and sometimes doesn’t “people” well. But she has a wonderful support system with Abby and Precious. There are some times when she misunderstands social cues and one in particular left me saying “oh no!” Ahmed the djinni has to be the perfect boss for her though. He’s just as bad at social cues and making jokes. He’s was definitely one of my favorite characters.
This book didn’t have as much action as book 1, but we are getting some more hints and clues throughout as to who Elle may really be. There is also a little bit of shenanigans in the Archives towards the end. And speaking of the end - holy moly! Just when Elle thinks she is going to be placed where she wants, she gets a huge surprise. And us readers get another game changing surprise with the epilogue! I am enjoying this series and definitely cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Book two in the series was another enjoyable fantasy read. The author continues to build out an interesting world to explore The story is mainly set in a new workplace environment (the Archives) and it comes with new characters which add to the enjoyment. She also gets to know Liam (IT guy) better and the author gave us a bonus chapter at the end of the book so we could see the date from his perspective.
There are a couple of plot lines in the book which move the story to where we find out more about Noelle, the main character, but not all. There are things about her which seem to have far reaching potential. We also find out more about her hamster Nibbles, a big and fun reveal!!
The story moves along at a good pace and you want to keep reading in order to see where it is going.

The second book in the Vampire Graduate Scheme took everything that was great from the first and expanded on it brilliantly.
Elle continues to be an endearing and relatable main character, and the world she inhabits is built upon nicely. All the side characters continue to grow, as does the will they, won't they with a certain IT technician (stop keeping me in suspense Gemma!)
With this placement, Elle finds herself in The Archives, where she meets some interesting new characters and gets herself into some hijinks.
There's plenty of funny moments, a nice bit of danger and I think a few teases of things to come to.

This part of Elle’s graduate program would be a dream job for me, if such a fantasy world were real. It was also more like an adventure-fantasy story than the previous book, as Elle learned to defend herself and how she was more than she had ever thought, before. With this book and the prequel as context, the bonus chapter also seemed to foreshadow future excitement and how the series is ramping up with her journey of self-discovery.

Oooh, I wish my accounting job had been this exciting. Love the new characters in this book and the archives sounds like an amazing place to have a snoop around. World building is on point again as is the extra snippets we get into the main characters lives. Brilliant

The second book in the Vampire Graduate Scheme by G. Clatworthy and she definitely does not disappoint. The story is good paced and you just want to keep reading. The world building is interesting and brilliant adding new characters into the story. There is adventure, new friends found, twists and turns, and many surprises. The main character, Elle, is quirky, socially awkward, but we do find out a little bit more about who Elle really is. There are some really great twists with some of the original characters from book 1. There is a huge surprise at the end when Elle finds out her placement. And in the Epilogue there is an even bigger game changing twist. I absolutely enjoyed this book and I recommend it!

This second book was slightly better than the first, but the plot and characters just weren’t very compelling. I’m not sure I’ll continue the series.

Loved it. As an archival assistant, I especially loved the Archive setting, and want to work there. Great story and great twists to characters were thought we already knew. Can't wait for the next book.
