Lizzie Degan is ripped through a portal into Elgoria. Brutal. Disorienting. There is no wonder here, only survival.
Her forced bond to Cedric, Prince of Dragonmoor, is volatile. Blood, stone, fire. Not poetic abstractions, but forces that demand obedience. The enemies-to-lovers tension works because Cedric’s past control matters. Lizzie never forgets it, and the story never asks her to.
The split threat line is where this book sharpens its claws. Lizzie is hunted by a monstrous Shadow creature and stalked by a self-made king who built his empire through blood. In parallel, Brody’s arc unravels, with an ancient presence in his mind whispering power at a cost he keeps insisting he can manage. The romance is never simple. Or safe.
This story doesn’t pretend love is pure or power is clean. Bonds are intoxicating. Desire complicates survival. And Lizzie’s choice to rise instead of run... Dark. Tense. Satisfying.
