My Last Dance

Rate this book
Ice dancer Piper Wyndell-Hamilton has only ever wanted one a gold medal at the Winter Olympics Games. But when her post-competition meltdown is caught on camera and goes viral, she loses her coaches, her partner, and ultimately, her dream.

On her way back home to re-group and pick up the pieces of her shattered career, Piper finds herself stranded in Michigan.

And the only person she knows in Michigan…is her Richard Charles Kappers the Third, better known to the hockey world as “Kappy.”

______

The only thing Kappy wants is to be the man in Piper Wyndell-Hamilton’s mantel picture. The reason why he wants that is private, and he doesn’t feel the need to explain himself to anyone else. It’s just what he wants.

While most people display their wedding picture on the mantel, Kappy knows it won’t be as simple as that for Piper.

To get what he wants, he needs to be her partner—in more ways than one.

i actually really enjoyed this one more the than book 1 in this series. this was a second chance, right person wrong time romance - which gets me every single time. i love the will they, won’t they when they reconnect every few years/after time gaps. this was surprisingly really emotional and i could feel for both of the main characters.

piper and kappy were so authentic, this felt like a real couple. the teasing and banter they had as teens, the friendship they secretly formed, the tension between them. the falling out was painful, the miscommunication and years of distance killed me 💔

finding out the truth with kappy actually destroyed me, he’s truly a man in love who just wanted to be chosen and wanted for once 😭 both him and piper felt unsteady with people, she not feeling like she deserved love and kappy thinking no one would choose him ☹️🫂

them dancing to iris was the best thing ever 🤭 kappy pushed himself so hard to learn figure skating for her it was truly so cute.

i could yap about this book a lot but it’s 1 am and im exhausted lol

i love them so freaking much, the writing isn’t perfect but it is easy and bingable.

thank you booked with the emilys and the author for a digital arc <33

and i know we weren’t perfect, but i’ve never felt this way for no one
i still see your face
can’t drive past the places, we used to go to

i’ve only ever had two dreams, make the nhl, and… make a life with you. i was waiting, you know. until after you got your gold. that was always my plan.

this book follows piper wyndell‑hamilton and richard kappers— after a public outburst shatters her skating dreams, piper finds herself paired with kappy, a stubborn hockey player she has always clashed with. forced together on the ice, their friction slowly melts into a fragile understanding, and amidst the whirl of blades and the glare of competition, they discover unexpected emotions, shared determination, and the possibility of something more than just victory.

this was actually so freaking cute! if you’re looking for a cute and quick read this is definitely it! was it a super basic hockey romance book? yes. i still enjoyed it.
they are the definition of right person, wrong time. i loved seeing their friendship turn into more and more! their love was so pure and caring! they fought and had problems along the way, and maybe they weren’t the type of couple i normally read about, but seeing something so real made me actually appreciate it more.
this obviously wasn’t live changing or writing perfectly but it really doesn’t matter to me.
. . . . .

౨ৎ piper + richard -
both of them tried to move on but never forgot eachother and saw the other in every thing they did. hence why i choose drivers license to be their song!
i see myself so deeply in piper. she is me, i am her.
i might have hated richard for a bit, but once i found out what his intentions were- i cried myself to sleep. i mean his live long dream was to hang on her mantel picture- did everything to make it happen. and once he thought that they wouldn’t end up together, offered to be her ice partner for the olympics- just so she could put it on her mantel picture, and for him to be on there some way. mind you all of this is something she mentioned once when they were fifteen. he also got a tattoo of a viper, since that’s his nickname for her. 🥹

⊹ „i’d been like that for as long as i could remember. some of my earliest memories were of me wanting to win. i wasn’t taught to be like that, it was just my nature.
⊹ „over the years, i tried hard to change, to hide my emotions, to not care so much, but…i always failed. i would never be satisfied with silver, and i couldn’t pretend otherwise.“

⊹ „but then i just thought…maybe this is how it’s supposed to go. maybe i can’t give her any of that, but maybe i can help her get this medal… maybe i can be the man in your mantel picture. and then maybe it won’t hurt so bad if i don’t get to be the man you marry.”

#Review: *My Last Dance* - S.C. Kate - ARC [18+]
5/5✨
2.5/5🌶️

I was super excited to dive into this 2nd book of this series by S.C. Kate, being super invested in the 1st one, "My best bet". Thank you so much for the e-ARC, Booked With The Emily's and the author!

Piper is also a figure skater, just as the main character of the 1st book, Meredith, with which she is a really good friend, their personalities being totally different. Piper was fierce and super determined, but when her long time skating partener, Patrick decided to retire, her world started crumbling down. She wanted so bad that Olympic Gold, but there was no chance for her without a partner.

Richard Charles Kappers, known as Kappy, is a hockey player in the same team as Colt, the main male character of the previous book. Because of their friendship, Kappy was automatically in Piper's close proximity too and that wasn't the best thing for neither of them. Why? Because they had some unsolved issues from the past. All that has transformed their relationship into a hateful one, especially from Piper's side. But underneath all that something so much stronger was hidden. And when the idea of becoming skating partners appears, they would be forced to stay in each other's proximity even more than ever🤭. And things will definitely become even more interesting.

Ohhh, I liked this book as much as the 1st one! Even though this time we only had one point of view, Piper's side, it was still so very catchy. Of course that I adored the enemies situation of Piper and Kappy, but the other side of their connection was even more stunning🥹. Kappy was such a goofy man, with such a wonderful soul. I was impressed by his story, which has definitely taken me by surprise.

I was super invested into this story, which put me through so many emotions and surprised me in the best way possible. I just adore the way the author builds her stories and her characters🩵. It's pretty impossible for me not to love her books🥰. I'm definitely recommending them!

My Last Dance is an incredible story full of longing, perseverance, romantic tension, and always showing up for the people you love. The story follows Richard and Piper throughout their teenage years through young adulthood. Both are are extremely competitive, driven, often misunderstood and both love to test boundaries. Richard and Piper have a unique dynamic and there were times their relationship was volatile. At the same time, there were so many moments of hope, joy and love woven into those difficult times. Richard honestly brought me to tears several times throughout the book. It was so admirable the way he always showed up for Piper in ways she didn’t realize she needed nor was ready for.
I loved that we get to see their relationship over several years, their secret moments together, the highs, the lows and everything in between. There were definitely some heart wrenching moments between these two but SC Kate brings everything together so beautifully. This story was so unexpected in the best way! I can’t wait for the next book.

While this could be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading the first book of the series My Best Bet prior to reading.

Thanks to Booked With The Emilys and S.C. Kate for a gifted copy of My Last Dance.

I love a good hockey/ice dancer romance and My Last Dance so when I saw this one I knew that I had to read it.

I loved this book. It was such a good and quick read. The characters are fantastic and I loved the banter/chemistry between Richard and Piper.

I loved how the book was divided into periods and how each period was a different time period and you got to see how the relationship between the characters grew/changed over the years. Especially how time affected Richard and Piper and their relationship.

And an extra bonus is it having scenes taken place in Michigan.

Oh my gosh I am so obsessed with this book and this series!!! I am a huge fan of all things hockey romance and I especially love when the FMC is a figure skater, and the fact that she wasn’t just a figure skater, but specifically an ice dancer was so cool! I feel like ice dance is severely underrepresented in sports romances, so that made this book even more awesome! Piper and Kappy’s love story was sooo good, definitely many trials and tribulations, but it kept me routing for them from start to finish and made their happy ending just that much more satisfying. I grinned and gasp, squealed and kicked my feet all the way through this book, it really was such a joy to read! And of course, this being the second book in the Center Ice series, it was so great to get to revisit all the character I met and loved from book one! If you are looking for some great hockey player x figure skater sports romances, this is absolutely the series to read! I can’t recommend it enough, all the stars!

After reading My Best Bet and falling in love with all the characters, I simply had to dive into My Last Dance right away.
I had such high hopes for Piper and Kappy, but ended up quite disappointed.
I was surprised that we only have Piper's POV. I didn't expect that, because book 1 was dual POV, which I prefer.

Sometimes I felt the timing was off. Like parts of the story that are crossing with timings in book 1 didn't match. Might be just me, but I had more than one occasion where I questioned the timeline.

Also Part III should have been the main part of this story. That's what the blurb promises. But exactly that part fell short and felt rushed. I wish we had more of the present part instead of focusing on the past.

Nevertheless, I had a really good time reading it and can't wait to get my hands on book 3. Hopefully soon!

Hmm what to say? What to say?

First, don’t get me wrong- this was a good book. If it was a standalone or had I not read the first book before this one (and if it had gone through one more round of copy edits lol), I probably would’ve loved it. But as it stands, this was not a standalone and I did read Mer and Colt’s book before it. And because of that I spent a large amount of my time reading this book just so frustrated. Because… *drum roll pls* THE TIMELINES DIDNT MATCH UP!! You mean to tell me that in the book 1 flashbacks, Mer and Colt are broken up and spend New Year’s Eve apart right before nationals 2014 and in the book 2 flashback, they’re still together and spend New Year’s Eve before nationals 2014 all hanging out as a gang at someone’s wedding?? And this wasn’t even the only inconsistency! It’s just the more glaringly obvious. But there were other timeline and geographical inconsistencies and it just drove me up the freaking wall and then I’d go back to book 1 and reread stuff to make sure I wasn’t losing my freaking mind.

Anyway other than that I really liked piper and kappy. I think there should’ve been a little more follow through on piper’s condition- it’s like they stop mentioning her pain after a certain point even though it’s supposedly getting worse again so… what happened?? I also would’ve liked to see more Mer, Colt and Lucy but that’s bc I just really loved them.

I shall say, I really love the love declarations and fights in this book. So many highlightable lines. Probably saved the book for me tbh (seriously that timeline thing bothered me so much I couldn’t sleep).

The structure of this book goes as follows- chunk of present time, chunk of past time, chunk of present time which was new to me. Most books will switch between present and past more consistently if there’s multiple chapters of each timeline happening. At first I was skeptical but by the end of the book I think I liked it? It did mean though that by the time stuff happened in the present that alluded to their past, I’d either have to flip back to reread stuff or just be content with vague recollections of what they were talking about. But it was different and interesting and I can’t say I *disliked* it.

Now while this review mostly focuses on the negatives id say once I was able to just accept that the timelines didn’t match up I did really enjoy this one and the net positives outweigh the negatives so if you’re not an overthinker like me then I say go for it!! Also side note- and this is probably clear from the description of the book that I never actually read- this is more of a figure skating book than a hockey book.

And last but not least- yay for chronic pain/chronic illness representation! 🥳❤️❤️

Piper is an ice dancer who is determined to win gold at the Olympics. When she and her partner get what she feels is a very unfair score at a competition, she loudly makes her displeasure known. Now she is wearing the scarlet letter of defeat and embarrassment, but she still wants that gold. She needs a new partner. Enter hockey player, Kappy. That's right, a big old rough and tumble hockey player has offered to be her ice dancing partner. This ought to be good.

Kappy and Piper have been dancing around their romantic tension with one another for many years. Because of this tension, they fight constantly. They are like oil and water, but you can feel the romantic chemistry between these two vibrating off of the pages of the book. It is a toss up as to who is more snarky, or who can throw better jabs (verbally and physically). I felt like if they could just get out of the way of their own egos, these two could be perfect together, but that is going to be tall order.

There are some funny scenes and touching scenes. My only complaint with this book was that Piper had a potty mouth. I know she was no wilting flower, but I think the story would have been just as good without the use of one particular word repeatedly. However, I tried to skip over the language because I really did love this story, which is why I must give it five stars. I cannot say anything bad about the book itself because it was absolutely fantastic. I found myself cheering and holding my breath a few times with some of the bombshells that were dropped in the latter part of the book. I am definitely not an ice dancer or ice skater, but I enjoyed reading and learning about everything that goes into making these athletes elite. They are definitely athletes of the highest caliber.

Thank you to the author and Booked With The Emilys for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"It's just not our time yet."

Summary: Ice Dancer Piper Wyndell-Hamilton has always dreamed of earning an Olympic goal. But after being ripped off at a regular-season competition, leaving her the laughing stock of the skating community. To make matters worse, Piper also finds out that her long-time skating partner has decided to retire, leaving her with no prospects for partners. Enter Kappy, a hockey player and the one person she cannot stand to be near for longer than a few seconds. Can they move beyond their past, the heartbreaks and missed opportunities, and make this work?

My Thoughts: S.C. Kate is a new author to me, but I have fallen in love with this series and these characters, so she has just earned a new fan. I loved Piper and Kappy's right-person wrong-time love story.

Piper and Kappy had to work hard for their happily ever after with many bumps along the way but I loved watching their story unfold. A favorite trope of mine is "he falls first" and it was mesmerizing watching Kappy love Piper, even when she was only annoyed by his antics. These two had such a beautiful history together, with moments their friends didn't know had happened. I love how they were always cheering one another on, despite never being able to be together in the way they wanted to be. I love how we saw their past through Piper's eyes from their early days in the arena to their last dance together on the ice.

Found family is strong in this series, and this one was no exception. This friend group, despite their many years apart and roadblocks along the way, just seamlessly melted back into one another's lives. I love seeing the characters from the other books and glimpsing parts of their stories now. After the snippets of J.P. and Ali, I am anxiously awaiting book 3.

Thank you to @bookedwiththeemilys and @authorsc_kate for my #gifted copy of this book.

Piper is an ice dancer with Olympic dreams. Richard Charles Kappers (Kappy) is a hockey player and teammate of Piper's best friend's boyfriend. In book 1 of this series, it is evident that these two characters don't like each other and I was really looking forward to getting their back story and it really did not disappoint.

A disappointing loss, the retirement of her partner, and being dropped by her coaches leaves Piper in danger of not meeting her goal. Enter Kappy, he agrees to be her partner and get her the Olympic gold she has been working towards her whole life. The problem, he's a hockey player not an ice dancer, they don't like each other, and they have no coach. But Kappy is determined and Piper agrees to give it a chance.

I loved that S.C. Kate added several chapters that told the history of Piper and Richard. Their relationship went from childhood friends, to almost lovers, to strangers, to partners. This was a story of right person, wrong time. It was years of them just being in different places and unable to be present for a relationship. But they both were always there for the other when they needed it.

I loved how much Kappy loved Piper, it was evident through the whole book. He would do anything for her and he made me fall in love with him. Piper was so fierce and driven and herself and I loved her character so much.

I loved the found family between these friends. We get a great introduction to them all in book 1 and that friendship continues through this book.

Piper is driven by one all consuming goal: Olympic gold. But a disappointing loss, the social media fallout that follows, and her partner's decision to retire leaves her questioning if she can really achieve that. But then her rival Kappy steps up and offers to skate with her. Can the hockey player really make the switch to ice dancing?

Pardon me while I scream. Again, I'm going to have to try really hard not to add any spoilers to this review. I am obsessed with Piper and Kappy and I'm completely jealous that I didn't write My Last Dance myself. It is so good that I'm going to have to go scream about it to a few friends as soon as I finish writing this.

The dynamic between Piper and Kappy was perfection. These are exactly the vibes I eat up, lick the plate clean, and then ask for more of. The girl with the take no prisoners attitude and the loveable himbo who banter and snark but are secretly best friends who open up emotionally when they are alone is my cat nip. The scene where he just lay on the muddy grass with her to look up at the stars so she could just stop of a moment, breathe, and cry had me gnawing on the bars of my enclosure.

The third act was amazing. Such a satisfying emotional payoff. I can't recommend this one enough. I'm going to be thinking about this series for a while. It's going to live rent free in my daydreams while I wait for the third book.

"My Last Dance" was such an easy book to get lost in. I was genuinely surprised and impressed by how much the author was able to pack into under 300 pages. There are a lot of emotional beats, healing moments, and silly, goofy banter.

I really liked how Kate unfolded the backstory of Piper and Richard / Kappy and led us into the present. I thought that was really well done and didn't feel like a huge info dump.

I would have enjoyed seeing more of the “training", mainly because those are my favorite parts of tv shows / movies that put an unlikely person in a new sport (Think Johnny Tsunami crashing out on the slopes in a fun montage). And I can’t believe Kappy would be a nearly perfect ice dancer just because he’s a hockey player.

Piper was a bit difficult to vibe with initially, but I didn't hate it. I appreciated that she knew it, and acknowledged she was angry all the time. That way we got to see her grow and let go of some of the resentment she had against the world.

Overall, this was a super enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to going back and reading book one. And then also reading the next book, because it's JP's story and I thought he was a great side-character in "My Last Dance".

This book is out now so if you like ice skater / hockey player romance with a ton of yearning, this one is for you!

I was sent a copy of this book for a tour. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I was so excited to read Piper and Kappy’s story after they were introduced in book one of this series!!

Thank you partner, Booked with the Emilys, and the author SC Kate for the #gifted copy! All opinions are my own!

Short Synopsis:
Ice dancer Piper Wyndell-Hamilton has only ever wanted one thing: a gold medal at the Winter Olympics Games. But when she and her partner are ripped off at a regular season competition, she can’t hold back her emotions. She absolutely loses it, and Piper finds herself dumped by both her coaches and partner.

Now, the only person in the world who is willing to skate with her…is the one person she can’t get along with for more than two seconds. The other issue? He’s not even a figure skater. He’s a hockey player. A hockey player with an agenda that she can’t seem to figure out.

My Thoughts:
I loved the childhood enemies to partners to lovers aspect of this story! The chemistry between Piper and Kappy was undeniable and so incredibly fun to read! I also loved how this story dug deeper into their backgrounds and revealed their vulnerable sides. Everything about Kappy’s relationship with his mom had me swooning and I found my heart breaking when his intentions were revealed. I cannot wait for book three of this series!!

Thank you, Partner @bookedwiththeemilys @authorsc_kate

Anyone else have that one friend who swears like it’s a second language? Piper is definitely that girl. If you’re thinking about jumping into the story, I’d really suggest starting with the first book. It gives you all the background and makes book two hit even harder. You can read it as a standalone, but you’ll probably connect with the characters more if you read both.
Now, Piper and Kappy? Whew. Their relationship is a hot mess in the most entertaining way. They seriously can’t stand each other like, the tension is palpable. But even with all that drama, Kappy still helps Piper out and becomes her dance partner. There’s this constant push and pull between them, kind of like a cat-and-dog situation, snarky, playful, and full of angsty vibes that keep you hooked. The first book was chef’s kiss and so this was just the icing on the top. For someone who isn’t so big on romance or sports, this was a good read. I’ve been wanting to broaden my genre horizon, and I wasn’t disappointed.

I loved this book so much! This is the type of enemies to lovers book where they aren't really true enemies. They just have a whole love, hate relationship going on. Piper and Kappy became childhood friends at the skating rink. They both knew they could never really be more, despite wanting more, because they had bigger goals. She wanted to be an Olympic gold ice dancer, him an NHL player. Kappy wanted Piper to have her dreams, so he stepped back. There was so much push/pull and so much yearning in this book. You could tell how much they cared for each other and even deep down loved each other despite their petty arguments throughout the years. I loved watching their relationship blossom over the course of the novel. It was such a beautiful journey. It's a testament of how far someone will go for the person they love. I need to go back and read the first book of this series.

I have not read book 1 but I felt this was good enough to stand on its own.

Piper (a figure skater) just wants to make it to the Olympics, but after a public tirade... that dream seems to have vanished from her hands. Richard "Kappy" is a hockey player that has a history work Piper, but could he be the one to help her achieve her dreams?

Most of the book is the present but a good chunk is the past. It really digs into the MCs loathe/like/love relationship. They felt the constant pull to one another until one of the other's feelings would get hurt and the dance continued. I think both of them were stubborn and that both were playing it safe until, as they say "their time is right".

There's a scene at the end that is pulse pounding and I just had to brace myself for heartache but it was so well done and I'm happy with the ending.

3.5 starts but rounded up.
As a stand alone book this was really good. It was sweet and easy to read. I love how Kappy gave up hockey for Piper. If this was the only book in the series this would easily be a 4.5 star read.
I disliked a lot of the flash backs, I think it was confusing the way it was labeled in comparison to the first book.
And things that happened in the first book happened in a different time line in this book. This is where the book lost stars was how it lacked cohesion with the first book.

Over looking that. It was a really good read.

This was an ARC gifted in return for an honest review

4.5 - rounded up for Goodreads.

📕 ARC Book Review: My Last Dance by S.C. Kate.
🗓️ Releasing June 12
✨ I received this as an e-arc.
❤️ Fade to Black (this does have language in it as well.)

This was such a beautiful book that was so much more than a simple romance. We see Piper focusing on only one goal, getting to the olympics. She has her sights set on this, but sadly her plans change quickly. She looses her partner of many years and has to agree to be partnered with her enemy, who also happens to be the one person who knows her best.

Piper & Kappy are FIRE together. They are enemies, but also best friends who are always there for each other. They play enemies in front of others, but deep down they would do anything for the other, and we see that happen many times throughout the book. KAPPY though, lets have a moment for him. He was so perfect for Piper. He called her out, but also loved her deeply. He put up with her sass and gave it right back. He was her equal. And he helped her see that you do not need to EARN love. People will love her for who SHE is. This was the most beautiful part of the story in my opinion. I loved seeing Pipers walls slowly start to come down, and see that maybe there is more to life than just skating, and maybe she is worthy of love.

Disappointed....

In the first book with Mer and Colt, it was done amazingly! You had a dual point if view that helped you fully understand and lose yourself in their story. Not only that, but, the full relationship between the 5 of them...well 6 if you count little Diva Lucy.

You absolutely do not get that in My Last Dance. It is only told in Pipers view point. I was very very much looking forward to this book being told on the same way book one was. Happy was to damn large of a character to not let his voice and thoughts be heard. I can only hope JP and Elie's book is told in a duel POV versus a single POV.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series and the second book was easily as good as the first! You'll find this read to be addicting, quick, and 100% fulfilling! The romantic tension between Piper and Kappy is palpable, but what's even better is the friendship they build over many, many years. If you love a good guessing game/plot twist, this book is for you!

What You’ll Find:
Hockey player x Ice dancer
Enemies to lovers
Rink rivals
Second chance
Slow burn (with lots of yearning & tension)
Caretaking scene

The first book of this series was phenomenal and this book was was just as special as the first.

This love hate relationship that blossomed from the time they were kids well into adulthood - that went through so many trials and tribulations, even years without contact only to rekindle their connection and find that love and chemistry they once shared for each other.

Such a beautiful story with revelations that’ll break your heart but build you right back up with all the love they fight to put back together again🩷

Arc Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

My Last Dance is such a fun book! It is so good as a standalone or reading the series as a whole. Kappy is a lovable guy who you can’t help but root for. Piper is such a complex fmc too that makes you feel for her as more than just the viper 😉

It’s a quick read and so fun so check it out! 💚 #gifted @bookedwiththeemilys @authorsc_kate

Absolutely fricking fantastic.

I loved it!

The thing with the three time squeezing?
Loved it!

They are so cute together. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I have read it in one sitting. I even skipped my favourite meal for it!!!!!!!!!!

Just one thing.

Richard’s finger (when Annie drives into them?)
How did you just put it back together? I mean I think it was broken, wasn’t it?

And I think other drama with Annie and the side quick from Richie (Brandi?) was a little unnecessary.

All in all an amazing and excellent book.
I am looking forward for Ali’s and JPs book. 🙃🙃

Solid 3.5-4 ⭐️ read. I was kinda disappointed going from My Best Bet to this one. I would say the first 75% of the book was decently paced, but the last 25% felt rushed. The last quarter was giving me wishlash just trying to keep up with the pace and glossing-over of so many moments. Despite that, it still had many redeeming qualities. I have been freaking waiting for this story for months after falling in love with My Best Bet, so finally being able to read Piper and Kappys story was well worth it!

Title: My Last Dance
Author: S.C. Kate
Publication Date: June 12--GO READ IT NOW

This is book two in the Centre Ice series, but can easily be read as a standalone! I read My Best Bet (book 1) first and it was FIVE stars for me so I do recommend reading it as well!

Book two focuses on Piper (who I adore) and RICHARD. I love the characters so much! One of my favorite things about this series is it is second chance! You get to see the flashbacks to them as young teenagers and then how they've grown/changed/life impacted them as the years went on.

Tropes you will want to know:
Tropes:
Hockey player x Ice dancer
Enemies to lovers
Rink rivals
Second chance
Slow burn (with lots of yearning & tension)
Caretaking scene

Have you ever ice skated or played hockey?! Let me know!

when i read a review under this book that someone enjoyed this book more than the 1st book, i was kinda angry cz 1st book has the second chance and single father tropes but when I started this book, I realized why someone would enjoy it. I really liked the story especially how both of them were so in love but still it wasn't the right time for them and it was kind of cute how both the books are sort of very similar

overall it was a cute read
