Callie might be off-limits but ever since she came home from college, I've been obsessed.
My buddy doesn't seem to notice that his baby sister's all grown up now. He's still trying to shield her from getting hurt, making sure any boy who shows an interest in her knows better than to get too close.
Turns out, Callie isn't looking for a boy, she's been waiting for a man and when I find out that man is me, I'll risk everything including my friendship and my family's ranch to claim her.
Because I don't see my best friend's little sister when I look at Callie's curvy figure, all I see is the woman who's meant to be my wife.

Welcome to Slow River Valley and the historic ranches that made men rich when their search for gold in the nearby mountains didn't.
You'll find the men here are as rugged as the land their cattle graze in, with loyalties-- and rivalries-- that run as deep as the river that defines this valley.
Protective, possessive, totally obsessed, the men of Slow River Valley know what they want when they see it and won't be swayed from claiming what's theirs. A woman who wins the heart of one of these cowboys can count on getting her ride into the sunset with a happily ever after that stands the test of time.
Set in the same world as Moonshine Ridge; The Slow River Valley Ranches books contain a lot of insta-love, some swearing, some steamy scenes, zero cheating, and a lot of swoon-worthy happy endings. They're interconnected with recurring characters but can be read as stand-alones in any order.
Rocklyn prefers her romance reads to be short, cute, and dirty; low drama and a little over-the-top: extra points for growly, alpha heroes with beards.
Originally from the farms and ranches of Central California, Rocklyn grew up in the lap of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those small towns will always be home, but Rocklyn was born to roam.
These days she spends her days exploring America's back roads in her camper trailer, writing steamy happily-ever-afters while looking for internet.
Follow Rocklyn here, on Amazon, find her on social media, or drop by the website (rocklynwrites dot net) and keep in touch when you join the (mostly) weekly newsletter and never miss updates on what's in the works-- and what's working and not in a life full of adventure and shenanigans.
*** And what do I read? Total smut, the kind with over-the-top chemistry that gets characters to lose their minds and their clothes as soon as possible-- they can work out the kinks on the way to happily ever after later!
This is book three of the author’s Slow River Valley Ranches series and features Archer, one of only two of the remaining single O’Leary boys (and my favorite so far) and his best friend’s little sister, Callie.
I’m totally in love with Archer and have been from the very beginning when he was shirtless, posing, trying to catch Callie’s attention under the guise of pitching hay bales without her overprotective brother noticing.
Archer was a decade older than Callie but she’d been in love with him since she was nine years old. He’d never noticed her then and she was certain he hadn’t noticed her since…had he? In truth, the only thing keeping him away other than the fear that she didn’t care for him, was his best friend’s temper as well as the concern that he’d refuse to sell grain to the O’Leary family ranch.
I loved the fact that Archer got to the point that he couldn’t fight his feelings any longer. He’d waited for two years because he didn’t think she cared but once the truth came out, he was done letting her brother call the shots…he was claiming the woman he loved…heck, it even made ME melt!
All the books in this series have been great, I’ve loved every one of them but Archer’s my favorite—he’s a cinnamon roll hero if there ever was one with his pining and the fact that if he couldn’t have Callie, he would rather just be alone for the rest of his life than settle for anyone else. Not to mention he actually spent time thinking about them together as a couple and the kids they might have had if only it wasn’t for her brother keeping them apart <3 <3 <3. I don’t mind saying, he’s my new favorite book boyfriend…his brother Lance has definitely got his work cut out for him if he thinks he can outshine Archer but we’ll see since his book is next. For Archer and Callie though, 5+ stars!
I received a copy of this book for free but am voluntarily leaving a review.
Callie has been in love with her brother's best friend her whole life. Only issue is that Archer is 10 years her senior and doesn't seem to realize that she's a woman now and not a little kid. Add in her overprotective brother Rowan and Callie is beginning to give up hope that Archer will finally take notice of her.
Archer is playing a dangerous game. He's in love with his best friend's little sister. Ever since she came home from college 2 years ago, Callie is all he can think about. He's obsessed with her. If Rowan ever finds out, not only will he lose his best friend, but Rowan could cut off selling supplies to his family's ranch.
Will these two ever open their eyes wide enough to realize the other longs for them, too? Or are they destined to be star crossed lovers for life?
Callie and Archer are two truly likeable characters whom I couldn't help but root for. This is a short, sweet read worth spending an evening reading. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Another quick read from Rocklyn Ryder about mountain men who know their woman the minute that they see them. The O'Leary brothers have been dropping like flies, but Archer Dean has fallen for his best friend's little sister, now all grown up. Despite what she might want, she is off limits because - best friend's little sister and best friend is also the O'Leary ranch's feed supplier. But the push that gets them together comes from a very unexpected source. I'm not a big fan of age gap romance, and Archer is 10 years older than Callie, but it seems to work in Slow River Valley. Likable characters and snappy dialogue.
I was gifted an Advanced Reader's Copy as part of the author's review team. This is my unbiased, voluntary and honest review.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the Slow River Valley Ranches series. In this book, Callie is grown up now and has a crush on Archie. Archie thinks Callie is off limits because his best friend is her brother. Archie wants Callie and when he finds out she feels the same, he is determined to be with her. Archie is willing to deal with Callie's brother Rowan, who also supplies the food for Archie's family's ranch. He worries Rowan will take his anger at Archie out on the ranch, but he is willing to risk it. I loved this story. I loved how Archie was willing to take responsibility with Rowan and to fight for Callie. I think they were perfect for each other. I love this series.
Oh my gosh! Archer and Callie were just so stinking cute together. (And hot!) With all the taboo off-limits vibes of all the best brother’s best friend/best friend’s little sister fiction out there, these two had me cheering to see them get their Happily Ever After from almost the moment I opened the book. With a dash of ‘touch her and die,’ and all the possessive alpha growliness I could ask for, I fell in love with these two almost as fast as they fell for each other. With one single brother left standing, I can’t wait to read what comes next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
I'm a big fan of Rocklyn Ryder's insta-love stories, and this instalment from Slow River does not disappoint. Callie has been in love with Archer since forever but having almost given up hope of gaining his attention she takes matters into her own hands. When she finds herself in a spot of bother Archer comes to her rescue. Once Archer gets over the whole best friend's little sister hang-up, things progress between them. Cue the big brother finding out and oh boy the sparks fly! Archer and Callie's story has become my new favorite and I highly recommend it!
I received an ARC of this story and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Callie has been in love with Archer since she was girl, her older brother’s best friend and has been waiting for him to notice her. Archer has noticed her since she moved back from school, it’s been years and he is finally going to make his move as he is done waiting and when the chance finally happens, all his cards are on the table….he just has to convince her brother…easier said than done. A great short steamy read with great characters, laugh out loud moments (kitchen scene with the 3 of them) and a read that will put a smile on your face from ear to ear. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Entertaining contemporary cowboy romance. This is Asher and Callie’s story. Asher is a decade older than Callie and best friends with her brother. Callie has always dreamed of a future with Asher. She’s gone to school and opened her own business. Then suddenly she finds out that Asher’s in love with someone else. She decides to take unknown risks that puts her in danger. I enjoyed the characters and storyline. I look forward to reading more books by Ms Ryder.
This quick read novella is perfect, if you love off limits romances. Archer is tired of fighting his attraction for Callie, but his friendship with her brother and the livelihood of his family are in jeopardy, if the relationship is taken further. The book is the perfect length to provide depth to the characters and short enough that the story is not over the top with an over protective brother.
Callie is dove with college and still playing in the dirt. She’s had a Jones for Archer since she was nine. Archer is a decade older and noticed Callie a few years ago. So he’s posing for her, flexing. Callie noticed him all the time but thinks he isn’t into her. Recommend for spice and Archer wanting to put a ring on Callie.
Immediately, the internal dialogues of Callie and Archer draw you into the big roadblock that is keeping these two apart - Callie's older brother who also happens to be Archer's best friend. Fireworks fly when attraction prevails, and signals get mixed up. A lot of living happens in this sweet little read. So Fun!
Loved Archer and Callie's story. These two have major chemistry, but both are afraid of the fallout with her brother, his best friend. I love a good back story with the two of them growing up together and knowing so much about each other already, it makes them falling for each other that much more special. Such a great read!
I lovedddddd this book! Calla had me cracking up half the book, lol. I truly liked how acertive she was and how she handled her overprotective brother. Archer Dean is the epitome of hot and alpha protector. Loved their chemistry and their story. Another great read from this author, can't wait to read the next story.
How do you tell your best friend that you're in love with his sister. Especially when he is an overly protected pain. There are several cute parts in here, but what I liked best was when her brother realized that our couple were really a COUPLE! One that gets their HEA.
This story made me laugh happily. Both in love with each other not knowing the others feelings and a her brother is his best friend. Let the good times begin!
I enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and was easy to read. It's a lighthearted, best friend's little sister story and I loved it. Callie has been crushing on Archer for a long time and now that she is grown up he has definitely taken notice but due to the age gap and how protective he knows his best friend and her older brother is, he hasn't let his feelings be known. They do have an age gap as well which is why it took until Callie came back from college for him to really take notice of her. But he hasn't taken that step because she is his best friend's sister and the potential fall out from that. I loved when they both realized they had feelings and took that step and went there. Once it become obvious that it wasn't one sided, Archer was ready to take that step to make her his and deal with whatever the fallout was, she meant more. This is a quick and short read and I had a lot of fun with it. It brought the spice and some laughs as well. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
