Chloe I was just there to pass appetizers and not spill anything on the guests. Easy enough—until I trip (literally) into Ethan Drake. Yes, that Ethan Drake. Hollywood Hills billionaire. Ridiculously hot. Ridiculously sinful. And now? Ridiculously obsessed with me. I’m curvy, sarcastic, and absolutely not looking to be anyone’s flavor of the week… But he’s not playing by normal rules. He’s playing dirty—and I might be into it.
Ethan She was supposed to blend into the background. Just the hired help. Just another party. Instead, Chloe Maddox walked in with curves that could cause a traffic jam and an attitude that tells me exactly where I can shove my ego. She’s gorgeous. Unimpressed. And completely irresistible. I don’t chase women. But for her? I’m running marathons. She thinks this is just a game. But I never play unless I plan to win— And I always play for keeps.
Don’t let the title fool you. Yes, our FMC is a curvy girl and yes, our MMC is a billionaire, but alpha? I can’t imagine Ethan got to where he is in life without being an alpha, but within the pages of this novella we don’t really get to see that.
Instead we’re presented with a man who has built himself a gilded cage, one he didn’t know he wanted to escape until Chloe, literally, crashed into his world. It’s love at first sight, it’s sweet, it’s somehow both tentative and certain at the same time, with a fairy-tale HEA.
It’s a short read, less than 100 pages, yet the author does a good job of letting us get to know our characters and watch their love blossom in a way that felt whirlwind fast yet still believable. If you’re looking for a pleasantly light, one-sitting read it’s definitely worth your time.
Read it. Loved it. Screamed into the void about it.
Okay FIRST of all… Chloe?? That name already eats, but the way her personality jumps off the page?? I was locked in. A curvy queen out here dressed as a penguin and still pulling?? Face card stays undefeated, sweetie💅
And then HE shows up, and he’s got charm, connections, and that flirt-with-intent energy that makes you weak in the knees. He’s laying it on THICK and I was LIVING for it.
DUAL. POVs. Say less — I inhaled every internal monologue like it was gossip from the group chat. He’s out here being completely smitten and spiraling while she’s cool as a cucumber and keeping him on his toes. The banter?? Delicious. The tension?? Crippling. The chemistry?? Off the charts.
Also shoutout to Chloe’s bestie for being the MVP of comedic timing and hype woman excellence. We love a friend who supports your delulu and your glow-up equally.
And when I say this man plans dates with INTENTION?? He said, “If I want her, I’m showing her,” and I said, “Period, king.” The swoon was real.
It’s sweet. It’s spicy. It’s giving “I see you, I want you, and I will make you mine” energy — but with heart.
Final thoughts? A super cute, feel-good billionaire romance with just the right balance of sass, steam, and soft moments. The pacing dipped just a little in the second act for me, but the payoff?? So satisfying.
Chloe is helping out a friend at a private dinner party. She's already feeling self-conscious among the one percent when she trips and nearly drops a whole tray of champagne flutes. If it wasn't for the billionaire who caught her, it would have been a total disaster. And she wasn't sure which was more embarrassing. Especially when he flirted with her. Ethan couldn't help it. The curvy server was everything he shouldn't want, but the only thing he could see. He flirted with her after she ran into him, and he just loved the way she blushed. It was even better later when she gave him sass. He wasn't used to that, and he was hooked. This was a really cute story, with an obsessed billionaire, and the curvy artist he couldn't get enough of. She wasn't quite sure what to make of him, and was reluctant to get close, but sometimes you just have to give in. They had to get past a lot of noise, from family, his business, and the press. But when it's right, it's all worth it. A cute story, sweet with plenty of spice, and a nice HEA.
