Defy The Alpha(s): Book1

Rate this book
Two centuries after the Great War, peace between humans and werewolves was finally achieved, or so everyone believes. Werewolves reign like gods, and humans remain blissfully unaware of their true place in the new world order.

To maintain this fragile balance, each year, a handful of "lucky" humans are selected from various districts to attend Lunaris Academy, a prestigious institution that promises glory, status, and a chance to mingle with the elite. Those chosen are hailed as the lucky few, destined to marry powerful alphas and rise as luna.

This year, Violet Purple is among the chosen, much to everyone's surprise. For an orphaned girl adopted by a disgraced prostitute, this is a golden ticket to a better life or so she's told. But Lunaris Academy isn’t the paradise it’s painted to be.

Everything Violet and her fellow humans have been taught is a lie. Humans are far from equal; they're pawns in a much larger game. The academy is nothing but a gilded cage, and the students are lambs led to slaughter, playthings for the alphas to toy with in their ruthless games.

To make matters worse, Violet catches the attention of the most dangerous players in this game, the Terror the Alpha of the North, Alpha of the South, Alpha of the East, and Alpha of the West. Each one is more dangerous, more twisted, and more powerful than the last. But even among themselves, the alphas are divided, each with their own deadly ambitions.

Yet, they all have their eyes on her.

They expect Violet to play along, to fall in line like the others who worship at their feet, to break under their games. But Violet isn’t like the others. She refuses to bow. She’ll defy them all.

3.5 -This was a book I got an awful AI add for that basically told that basically told the first half of the story in the first 2 minutes. Of course I had to find it online and read it.
Its full of typos and in huge need for an editor, but the story itself and the characters I LOVE.
The auther has posted all 650odd chapters of the story on her website. The chapters are short, so when I eventually finish this, it's probably the equivalent of 3 books. I'm at chapter 200 now, which I'm classing as one book (shes got 17 parts to this book on goodreads but theres no way I'm putting 17 entries on her for it).
In terms of writing style, I it's quite similar to Blood of Hercules, probably like zodiac academy too.
There were a few points where I was like... does the auther know where she is going with this, but there are some events that happen that fully glued me and kept me reading until 4am.

Will definitely finish it.

Disappointed

I never leave a review but it needs to be known that this is not a complete book and It pushes you to pay more than what an actual book is. Very disappointing.

Not sure

So so far I get it and it's an interesting tale, but to be honest it's the cost that puts me of, not the first time I've read one of these the last one was in four parts which I paid for it was a good story, enjoyed it but was left with no ending and no way to find it except a website that was not in English or had any directions on how to get it in english, this story has ten or so parts to it and I would dearly love to know just how violet will win out in the end I'm not sure I want to spend the money to find out,and to be honest if the other parts are as short as he first on why splint it into so many parts, if it was one book at a reasonable price I would have paid for it. I've paid money for books by new and old authors but not this amount of money for one story by a new author to me. So although I enjoyed the story and would love to know what comes next I really can't justify the cost especially if I was to run into the same problem I had with the other one like this, it's a shame and do understand that the author needs to make money but there is just something about this and the website that doesn't sit right.

Defy the Alpha(s) is a quick, fast-paced read that doesn’t try to be a literary masterpiece — and honestly, that’s okay. It’s fun, easy to get through, and entertaining enough to keep the pages turning.

While some elements are fairly predictable, the story still held my interest, especially when it comes to the world-building. I’m particularly curious to learn more about the Cardinal Alphas and the powers they possess, as well as Violet’s past — including the mystery surrounding her purple hair.

Even if I can make some educated guesses about where the series might go, I’m still interested in seeing it play out. This feels like a solid setup for what could become a very enjoyable series, especially if future books expand more on the lore and character histories.

Overall, this is a good pick if you’re looking for something fast, fun, and easy to read without heavy emotional investment.

it was okay

Pricey for a short read where nothing happened really. More descriptions and inner monologue than anything. Should have combined books.
