A mermaid named Coral, born mute with bluish-grey skin and light turquoise hair is not like the other mermaids of the sea. She protects the pearl fields fiercely and likes to be alone because of bullying by Princess Cindy and her friends. After a particularly cruel tirade by the princess and her gang, she sits alone on the surface of the ocean on a small rock, leading her to happen upon Rhys Brown, a marine biologist. Seeing that she is injured, he brings her on his boat and heals her. She becomes enamoured with him, but his boss wants him to bring a mermaid to him for proof that they exist. Can he really kidnap her to further his career after befriending her?
