WTH was this?

Was there an actual story somewhere in here and I just missed it? Aside from the horrendous spelling and grammar there was no plot! I kept waiting for it to get interesting but it never did. And it seemed like every character was bipolar or had multiple personality disorder. I need my stories to have substance and direction. I need the characters to have some sort of depth. Now, I know some authors are generous when it comes to endowing their male lead characters but this one decided to go for broke and turn Alex into a mythical creature sporting 16 ridiculous inches. Yes, 16 inches. Think about that for a second, get a ruler if you have to. That revelation was the only part of the book I enjoyed because it made me laugh and roll my eyes. What a waste of money this book was.

Hate to do it but i didn't like it :( I have no clue what this was about.. The story made no sense what so ever and Alex was cocky to a point where I just wanted to close the book. But instead I kept going.. It didn't get much better.. It has the potential to be better if it is revised by the author and re-written.

I wish you could see my face right now. It’s sort of a mix between what the fuck, and did I really just waste my time reading that? I’ve never read a book quite like Until Alex, and for good reason; it was complete rubbish. The writing? Subpar. The storyline? What storyline? Grammar/punctuation? Dear Lord, don’t get me started. It was bad – real bad.

When I took a moment to explain the plot to my husband he laughed in my face. Let me try again with you all…

Alex owns a gym where young women go to enroll in a course designed to help them become the ideal lover sex toy. It’s a four week long course, and he charges $10K per week for each “student” to partake in his infinite sex god wisdom. Are you rolling your eyes yet? Alex has ten recruits this time around, and at the end if the four week course he gets to fuck them all. Apparently these women are basically salivating over his manhood. Some of the women are married, some sent by their boyfriends, and one is sent by her mother. Um… creepy much? The one sent by her mother is a virgin, but when her time comes along to hop on his 10 inch member (yeah, I said 10…), she jumps right up and impales herself. OH, and then takes it up the ass as well. What. The. Fuck? Wait, it gets better. There is another woman involved in the whole shebang, because apparently Alex takes them on two at a time.

Eventually Alex falls for one of the girls – you guessed it, the virgin – and he pursues her even though it’s against everything he stands for. Cry me a river. You know when people refer to a woman as having daddy issues? Well, this dude has MAJOR mommy issues. It’s just… I can’t even…

There are moments when the thin vale of a story line is inconsistent. There are characters that essentially have no purpose. The pacing was off, the plot jumped around constantly, and the writing was very redundant . If the author had given herself a little more time, I have no doubt that this could have been an interesting, well written read. Instead it seemed like a pump and dump.

I wish I had something good to say about Until Alex. The only redeeming quality the book has is that it eventually ended.

Where to start? I found this book difficult to get through and There was no real storyline in here whatsoever!
I found Alex to be a Condescending Man Whore who used his physical fitness training as a way to sleep with women and get paid.
Alex was suppose to be against being in a relationship and falling in love, so what I don't understand is, why did he fall for a woman that came to his gym (like every other woman there) in order to have sex with him?
The whole first chapter was repetitive. First telling what he will or will not accept, then telling us what he will and won't allow the women to do, its the same thing, just worded differently.
Then he has their (the women) DNA, Passports and Social Security Numbers and that no one can get past his checks, but he doesn't know Mia's first name in the beginning.
I had to finish this book in order to give an honest review, but I found it difficult!

This was pretty bad.

I'm being kind saying pretty bad. I usually do not write bad reviews but I'm making this an exception. Wow. I don't think this book was edited. At all. Horrible grammar. Awful typos. No character development. Very lame story line. And extremely short. Definitely novella length, although I don't remember it being advertised as such. Absolutely nothing redeeming here. Sorry, but don't waste your money.

Hmmmm, it's kind of sad that I'm more interested to read Mia and Nathan's story in the Pulse Series by Wilder. The tease at teh end of Until Alex sounded really good. Obviously it doesn't end well if we know he cheats on her multiple times but I think it would be a good book.

His rules are simple and not to be broken. If you follow them he guarantees you’ll have the best sex of your life. No returns, no refunds. He only has sex with the same woman once, but once is all you’ll need.

Alex, is an owner of a local gym. While the gym keeps more than enough money in his pocket, his real interest is in the Brand New You program, why do they call it that you ask? Well because as Alex so poetically explained when ladies get a taste of him they leave feeling brand new. After a rigorous screening process (yes word of mouth is out, women want a taste of Alex) they start four weeks of boot camp where they’re given fitness training and taught obedience. The end result is one night with Alex, what Alex had never planned on was Mia. Mia quickly got under his skin, and the next question he is faced with is one night with Mia going to be enough for him?

First I must say WOW. This is not typically the type of book I’d purchase and read, but boy am I glad I got a chance to review it. I feel like all the stories out there are getting so typical, this one is not that story. This was a quick read that I finished in less than 24 hours, mostly because I could not put it down. While at times, I found some of the story to be unbelievable it did not take away from how much I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

Not only was the story entertaining, but it was well put together. All the characters where likeable, Alex was the alpha male, swoon worthy, and panty melting. The sex scenes are not for the faint at heart. I would defiantly recommended this book to my friends. My only recommendation is have a fresh pair of underwear nearby because this is HOT, HOT, HOT!

I wanted to love this book. The premise was solid, interesting and had the potential to be hotter than hot. However, Until Alex didn't meet my expectations; for me, it missed the mark.

Alex owns and runs a gym - but it's not ordinary gym. Women turn to him to teach them how to do what HE does best....f*ck.

Until Alex seemed promising and I could not wait to get my hands on it. Sadly, the execution was off. I am all for a reformed a**hole/man-whore male lead, but in this case, I struggled to like Alex. His character was, to my eyes, irredeemable. There was nothing about him that made me think he be could *good* and ultimately lovable. Not even his strong friendship with his female coworker was appealing to me.

Moreover, I found the writing to be choppy and all over the place. Many times I had to remind myself where the characters were and when things were taking place. And I was left often wondering who they were.

I couldn't get a sense for these people - none felt fully fleshed out, nor did any of them seem to "fit" together in that indefinable way opposite-but-perfect-for-each-other characters should and do. I'll be honest, I was unsure of the majority of the time WHICH female was supposed to be Alex's girl... And that's something you should know from their first meeting - regardless of how and when it happens.

I tried to press on. I am not one to DNF - it's something I take seriously because I know how much time and effort goes into creating a book. For that reason, I try to solider on. Sadly, I was unable to do that here. There was too much confusion and not enough connection. ~ Beth, DNF at 54%

Title: Until Alex
Series: No
Author: J.S. Wilder
Genre: Contemporary Erotica
Heat Level: 4 out of 4 flames
Overall Star Rating: 3 out of 5

Alex is confident and cocky. He knows he's great in bed. He's so great in the sack that he teaches a class on sex. This class even has a boot camp. First you are screened, tested for STDs and evaluated psychologically. You get the picture. Alex loves women. All women, all sizes and all ethnicities. He had a screwed up childhood and refuses to let anyone close. He doesn't make love, he f#%ks. His words not mine.

During one of these camps/classes, he has a student named Mia. She's described as shy and unsure of herself sexually. Alex and Mia are drawn to each other and their sexcapades are over the top hot. What will happen after the class is over?

I thought that this book was romance. It was erotica. I'm okay with erotica but I was just expecting something else. Alex was skeevy. He was vehement about no cheating but he slept with married women who took his class. I guess he didn't consider that cheating. He also has sex with Mia in a public restroom and talks about leaving the restroom without washing his hands. Ohh, and my personal favorite, Mia's mother had to blow Alex to get her into this class.
While I found the author's style of writing easy to read, it had a few "ick" moments for me. If you want straight up erotica, this would be good for you.

Sorry... not a good read (Spoilers)

I have no idea what I just read. I am sorry to say that this book didn't do it for me. I couldn't even read it in one sitting. I kept putting this book off because I couldn't get into it. 90% of the book is of Alex thinking to himself, 5% having sex and the other 5% interacting with other people which are all women. Alex is a gym instructor as well as on the side a sex instructor. He has women sign up to become exceptional lovers. I think the book would have been better if Alex wasn't such a cold guy and if there were more interactions between him and other people. He has no male or female friends only his coworker/friend Tina. During one of his 6 week course he starts thinking of Mia who is one of his "students" more than he has of anyone else before. There is no flow to this book. The end totally confused me more. Mia's fiance whom she would like to be an ex shows up at Alex's gym and offers Alex a million dollars to get Mia back. And instead of trying to comprehend what happened Alex and Mia move to Mexico and change their identities and open a sex teaching course in Mexico.

Really this was boring.
Alex is an asshole, the narrative is all his and with almost no dialog.
Mia is a silly unknow girl, because never is a principal character, it's like all the story was about Alex and his selfish and narcissism.
And, "the big A" sound like a dumb boy triyng to be coooolll.
To my luck is a short story.
Thanks, but not thanks. Sorry!

Could have been a good story, but the grammar is horrendous. If I read ain't one more time I was going to scratch my eyes out. Alex refers to himself as Alex sporadically, no consistency at all. There was no connection to the characters.

One of the worst things I've ever read. I want my time back. Pleaaase give me my time back!
Thank God it was so short, because that (lack of) plot was simply annoying. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I really can't find anything good, not even the hot stuff was actually hot.

It’s not often that I leave low-rated reviews, however with this book, judging by the majority of the other reviews posted, I am not of the minority opinion on this book.

First, let’s start with the premise. Alex is the owner of an elite gym that runs a Brand New You program, geared towards teaching women how to please a man. This is a trope we’ve seen before with mixed success, however I was still intrigued. The women come to him, spending thousands of dollars to be told what it is that men are looking for and how to give it to them. Their final “test”, as it were, is to take part in a fantasy session with him at the end where he essentially has sex with them. Like other similar stories, Alex falls in love with one of his students and it goes from there.

Alex. I’ve never come across a more misogynistic world-class prick than Alex. The entire first chapter is a sexist diatribe of how he knows everything about women and what they have to do in order to land a man and keep him. I was immediately turned off from the character, so if that is what the author was attempting to achieve, she certainly did that. But Alex wasn’t the only character I didn’t like; I didn’t like any of them. Mia, the student Alex falls for, is incredibly weak, which honestly, you’d probably have to be to spend the thousands of dollars (although it was her mom that signed her up) in order to be ridiculed by a rampant sexist.

But it wasn’t just the chauvinistic tone of the storyline. It was the mechanics of the story itself. There were a few shifts from first person narrative to third person that came out of nowhere leaving the reading to wonder what it was the author was really trying to say. In addition to that, there are several hints at different arcs the author was trying to take the story, however none of them are explored. The reader is just left with a flat, rambling missive of a man that would likely never land a woman, regardless of the size of his bank account, cock, or how hot he was. There is a character that is like a sister to him that has a breast cancer scare, then infertility issues, and she’s exhausted…the whole thing was really. Just. Weird.

I see that some of Wilder’s other works have far better ratings than this one so maybe I just chose the wrong one to start with, however this one left such a horrible taste in my mouth I’m not sure I’d want to revisit anything even remotely similar. This is a story idea that is waiting to be told well, and it is too bad that the author was unable to nail it. I’m still holding out hope there might be someone out there that can.

This is a weird book, and not for everyone. Alex runs a gym, but not just a normal gym. This particular gym has a special program called Brand New You (BNU). Apparently Alex is such a sex god that women will pay to join the program, just for an opportunity to have hard funky sex with him.

He runs the program like a sex boot camp. Alex pushes the women beyond where they think they can go. He never gets close to any of them, or any other women for that matter. His job is to remove their inhibitions, and prepare them to go back to their normal lives ready to take on the world.

That is until he meets Mia. There is something about her that is different. Can Alex let his guard down and actually allow himself to fall in love?

The idea of this novel is interesting, but I'm afraid the execution fell a little short for me. For one thing, the entire novel is told from Alex's point of view, and for most of the novel he is a total jerk. He sees these women as "bitches". He is constantly assuring the reader that he is god's gift to women. I've rarely read a story where the man was as full of himself as Alex is, at least in the beginning. He does seem to settle down a bit by the end of the novel, but I quickly got tired of hearing about how sexy he thought he was.

The whole thing with Mia seemed rushed to me. The first half of the novel was all about the gym, the BNU program, and about how damn sexy Alex was. Mia didn't even really become a factor until the last half of the novel, and then it felt like the author rushed to fit everything in before the book ended.

Also, I got a bit confused trying to keep track of all the women in the BNU program. He would not use their names, referring to them as numbers one through ten at first, and then later referring to them as the seven sins of Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Sloth, Wrath and Pride. As if that's not enough, the different sins were color coded. So, the women were known by number, by sin, and by color, at various points in the novel. We never learn any of their actual names, except for one.

If you are looking for something different, then this book might fit the bill. Just be aware it does have some issues. I think with a little work though it could be much improved.

i thought this was an okay book. It definitely needed editing (hopefully i did not have the 2nd revised edition). i'm actually kind of sad that the reviews aren't great because that make chances of the Pulse Trilogy slimmer, and i think i could actually enjoy it.

The characters and story do seem a little rushed, A LOT happens over a really short time span in this book. Overall, i did think that Alex was pretty much a jerk at first, but he definitely started to grow on me as he starts to face his own emotions. This seems believable enough to me, a lot of men are jerks who just do not know how to process emotions. Sometimes these jerks can be wrangled in and learn to handle emotions in a healthy manner, but sometimes they are jerks forever!

Mia seems nice enough. I wonder how mad she will be if she ever finds out her mom blew Alex? I think we probably could have done without that, but it could always make for an exciting argument in the trilogy or if this storyline is ever picked up again in any other way. We really didn't get to know much about her, I'm definitely looking forward to more from her too.

Honestly i actually even liked that Alex wasn't sure why, he just knows he loves Mia. Master was training a new employee at work a few days ago, this guy (only a few years younger than Master) was appalled by the idea of monogamy. Said, "I just love pussy too much, I couldn't imagine having to spend the rest of my life with the same one!" Masters reply was "well sometimes, you find that one that fits just right and you never want any other one". This, of course, makes me feel FANTASTIC, and this book and Alex's personality shift after being with Mia related to me in that way.

I'm really interested in seeing more from this series, so i really hope it happens.

Alex owns a gym, a special gym. For ten thousand a week, Alex offers a four week program called the Brand New You for women who want to change. For women who want to become better lovers and take charge of their lives. But it's not a class that is advertised. The orientation is strict and not everyone gets in. If you graduate, you get a night with Alex. A night he claims will be the best night of your life.

Alex had a hard childhood. His mother left him when he was a child, and his dad left when he was a teenager. He determined then he would never love anyone again. Never give anyone the chance to leave him. It's worked for a long time. Until her. Until his student number 3, Lust, Mia.

Mia didn't sign up for this program. Her mother signed her up. Even though this story is told from Alex's POV, you can tell she has feelings for Alex. And Alex - he can't get her out of his mind. Will Mia be the one to change him? Will she be the one to cause Alex to love again?

I liked this book. The plot was okay. Alex is really good at heart, once you get past him talking about how wonderful he is. He definitely is Not insecure. He's had lots of women and he knows how to teach and please them. He's softer with Mia. Let's down his guard and it's really sweet. His best friend and partner Tina is a likeable character too. They've been friends forever, and only ever friends which makes their partnership very strong. They depend on each other.

At the end of the book, there's a chapter for another book called Pulse which will be Mia's story before Alex. You see, I didn't mention it above, but Mia is engaged when she starts the program. We meet Nathan her fiance once and he's not a nice man. It'll be interesting to see Mia before Alex and understand what happened.

Boot camp to train women to become sexually driven.

My initial reaction was I hate this character Alex. He was a cocky arrogant prick. Alex thought of himself as some stallion that women begged to screw. His boot camp program was a cover for sexual education. Alex made it his priority to conclude the program with a proper send off using his penis in the form of penetration. Alex banged each women sending them off with graduating diplomas.
I felt like these women were degrading themselves for the benefit of pleasuring a man. Ten wealthy women of all nationalities joined this sex boot camp. Most were sent their by men to learn how to be better sexually.

It grated on my nerves that men are callous enough to pay another guy to teach their woman how to have better sex. I did not enjoy this story.

It started off as a story about boot camp training for women for four weeks to become better at sex. Then it turned into a story about Alex wanting one of the girls in his boot camp.

I did not expect Alex to turn into a love sick puppy dog over his client. Alex obsessed over Mia from the start. He could not wait for graduation day so he could have sex with her. I felt I missed a vital part of the story.
The entire premise for the boot camp was to get back at his mother for not loving him as a kid. The boot camp was a form of retribution to get even with women for his mother's wrongdoings. He took out his anger and frustrations on the women in his camp by demeaning them as an act to teach them a lesson. Alex did not believe in love until he met Mia.

When I saw this book, along with the teasers, I felt I had to read it. I was mistaken. I knew after reading the first few pages that I wasn't going to enjoy this read. I gave it an opportunity. I even finished it. I didn't like it. I didn't want to rate this low. I really wanted to give it a higher rating. The cover and the teasers grabbed me. Here's why I didn't like it:

1. Repetitive phrases and portions of the story. It happened enough that some things felt like it was a mantra.
2. Overuse and misuse of the words f**k & sh**. I am no prude. I can go with the best of them, but this was just sad in some cases.
3. The story seemed to jump around and it made my head hurt.
4. I didn't like who the main character ended up with.
5. The sex scenes didn't get my motor running because of the constant need for the main character to stroke his ego.
6. Some of the word choices were completely inaccurate and incorrectly used. I wish I had my reader in front of me to provide examples.

There were other things, but those were the main points that had me cringing. This was just not my cup of tea. I really did want to enjoy this book. I couldn't.

It had promise....

I thought I would like this book more. It had an interesting premise, much like Taint by SL Jennings, but it didn't deliver. The main character, Alex, ran a boot camp and taught rich women about how to improve their "performance" and gave private lessons. He came off as smarmy instead of confident. He was interested in multiple women at the camp and I'm not sure who was who because there were a lot of typos and inconsistencies. The ladies in the boot camp were just numbers 1-10, but the author could not keep the characters/numbers straight....so how could I? Sometimes 6 was referred to as 3, stuff like that. I still don't know much about the one he ended up with and stayed confused about which one she was at camp until close to the end when he started referring to her by name. There's not a lot of depth to this story, it's quick with loose ends. Who was trying to get into his cabin????

Alex and Mia meet at his "special" boot camp. Mia's mother signed her up for lessons from Alex for his 4 week course and he becomes intrigued by her. When he asks each of the girls why they are there, Mia's answer that her fiance' cheated on her shocks him. Alex finds himself with feelings that he never experienced before. Alex's mother left him when he was just 6 and his dad abandoned him when he turned 18. Alex believes that he is unworthy of love and only able to give women his body. Mia changes that and they both find themselves trying to find a relationship together. I was not crazy about Alex and he was extremely cocky, arrogant and overbearing most of the book. Mia was able to get past a lot of things that I know I personally would not be able to. It was wilder than the book premise led me to believe so be warned.
